Scotty, is a 99 Dodge Durango a good car? I told my mother no, but she want's to keep it since it's the only thing we got, but we've kept it since it's the only thing we got for maybe 14 years, it's just having things break here and there. The bearings go on it, the battery keeps getting drained, and the heater does not work. Many other things wrong with it other than that.

I would be surprised, if the new Accord's small turbo engines are able to come close to 250k miles, especially being as reliable and problem free as the former normally aspirated were. Of course, what does that matter, since we'll all be driving electric cars anyways. Another way to take the individuality, excitement, and wonder out of life. Already, most cars follow the 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 philosophy for color, being mostly shades of grey, inside and out. Sorry about that last part, but something to think about.

Second reason is Toyota's aren't immune to reliability issues, like every car manufacturer they have their share of issues. Third reason is it depends on what you want in a car, for me I find Toyota's to be very boring😴 on the outside & dated on the insides. The driving dynamics when compared to a Honda or Mazda, the Toyota's are behind. If you're concerned about reliability, the Accord & Civic matches the Camry & the Corolla. I've owned 4 generations of Accord's and never had any major issues with them. Again it all comes down to personal preference, My wife also owned a Mazda 3 & a Mazda protégé and had no issues.

Excellent history Scotty and well done visually. I’m looking at Camrys from 2011-2014. Really the reliability and quality and there are so damn many of them if you do a thorough job looking and have patience you can get a great deal. My current Toyota Sienna has a 6 cyl and I’m looking for the same in a Camry. Even though Scotty says steer clear of V6 if you want least costs possible in future repairs. I need 200 plus hp not 169.

Hi Scotty, I love your videos and the honesty & time you dedicate to educating driving enthusiasts and layman. I have had both 2005 Accord, 2014 Camry, and 2015 Accord. I loved the 2014 Camry V6. Sadly, it was totaled when another driver ran a red light. I am a big fan of the Accord, as well. It is sporty and I like the solid feel. The only thing I dislike on my used 2015 Accord is the paint quality. I see old Hondas on the road and they often have paint issues...as long as the car runs, I'm happy. I didn't choose to buy a BMW or Mercedes, I chose to buy a vanilla sedan that will be affordable to fix and provide YEARS of driving pleasure and safety.

I had a '76 Accord that I enjoyed very much and that served me well for many years. My sister's dealer recently resolved a lease on a high-mileage Pilot by selling her a base model 10th generation Accord. It's surprisingly full featured for a 'base' model. We live only a few miles from Marysville so our whole area are very strong Honda Accord fans. Right now I'm resuscitating a '98 Civic that my other sister left sitting in her driveway for five years.

I just sold my 2002 4 Cyl Accord EX Sedan last weekend. I'd had that car for 15 years and loved it. The past 2 years my teenage daughter had been driving it. Zero issues. Only reason I sold it was because it was pushing 200k miles and was at the point where everything was starting to go. I nearly cried when the gentleman who bought it showed up to pick it up. And I won't lie, I've had thoughts of texting him and offering a refund plus some if he'd bring the car back. Watch some KZread videos of 6th Gen Accord Tributes and you'll see why. They look amazing right out of the factory, even better when you upgrade the headlights and wheels. Oh well... I digress. As for now, I'll keep driving around in the 2013 Accord EX Sedan that I bought 4 years ago. And my daughter will now enjoy her new 2013 Accord EX Sedan that I bought her. Especially after next week when we get the windows tinted. 😁 Honda or Toyota? Honda for me. There is just something about those cars, they go straight to your heart. ❤️

Toyota has never been about about having a flashy exterior. They cared only about reliability until 2019 when it was announced that they would no longer be making boring cars. Accord has always been about being fun to drive, good looking car and reliability

I'm a Honda freak: 2 Preludes, 2 Accords, and 2 Odysseys. The first Odyssey was a 2006 model which was bought new and driven to 315,000 miles. Still have it parked in my driveway with need for catalytic converters. Go Honda! Thanks for your posts Scotty. I miss Car Talk on NPR so I enjoy the humor you bring into your posts.

I've been driving a 2004 Honda Accord 5-speed manual since I bought it new 17 years ago. And not a bit of rust anywhere. Great car. I don't know what direction I'm heading, nor what the temperature is outside, or whether I'm backing over anything or anybody, but hey, it sure is fun to drive.

LOL!! I have a 2002 Honda Accord Coupe 5-speed manual with less than 49K miles. It is starting to have minor issues...not sure if I'm ready to let it go just yet, but since I'm not especially knowledgeable about cars, feel I might start getting taken even if I'm especially vigilant. Anyhow, maybe there is less liability if we run over somebody with an older car😀?

Awesome video. I bought a used 1995 Camry in 2001. Had it for nearly two years before it developed transmission and head gasket problems. Didn’t get it from the dealership, which is why I don’t think it lasted very long. I still love how Toyota has evolved it. As far as Honda Accords go, never driven one to know if I like them. They have always looked very nice though....

Bought a new Accord EX 4 early 2000. Still driving it today. Only replaced suspension and brakes and also had a rear wheel bearing go. Repaired the start relay and high beam relay. Enjoying it today ,with over 300,000km. Very good review, thanks.

I bought a 2019 Accord Hybrid and love it. It’s got loads of power, hardly uses any gas (most of the time I forget to even look at my gas gauge, because it just never seems to need a refill), and handles very well. Before that I had a Toyota Highlander and then a RAV4; both were plagued with electrical problems. The windows on the Highlander all warped and came out of their tracks and had to be replaced. I’ll never but another Toyota. This is the third Accord I’ve owned since ‘83 and I stand by Honda.

EBC USR Rotors and YellowStuff Brake pads are the very best street legal brakes available. Use Redstuff pads if a little dust scares you. They'll last longer, but won't stop as well as YellowStuff. YellowStuff will wear out in 2 or 3 years but stop better than anything else.

My 08 Accord has over 320,000 miles. Only thing I've replaced is the starter outside of routine maintenance. Yes initially it had premature brake wear on the rear pads but they fixed that by upgrading the pads. I love my Accord. It still runs like the day I bought it new.

Those 2008 Accords were some of the last to come from Japan before they switched to the Ohio plant. My father had a 2008 with the 4cyl. Awesome resilient car! We'd still have it if it wasn't for a careless, clueless driver who totaled it.
