    I just have to add this. Yesterday my son and I went to purchase a used 2014 Camry LE. After a long test ride, putting it up on the lift to inspect the underneath, pulling out the spare tire and jack the very last thing we did was try to pair the phone with the radio. Guess what, the radio wouldn't pair, there was an issue with the touchscreen! I asked the salesman to get us a price on a new radio. $1000 installed OUCH!!! In our negotiation the dealer will install a new radio at no charge for us! All that to say without watching this video and remembering to try to pair the phone, we would have been out $1000. So again a VERY BIG THANK YOU!!! You helped save us $1000. Blessings to you!

    We have one and it’s a beautiful car. Just be careful with it. A few very tiny rust spots I am working on. You are right about the chips and things. So you can buy proper factory colour coded paint and apply minimally. It gets cleaned regularly and monthly home service things ( not mechanic things- better to pay for that!) We run the car on the highest octane gas - it’s a bit expensive but it drives so sweetly. The reviews I read criticise the steering, but honestly, the steering is fantastic. Most of all drive smoothly and don’t stress the engine and brakes. The emergency brakes are excellent and the seat belt thing locks properly. Seats are comfortable. Everything easy to clean. A nice step up from previous model ( I used to own 6cyl model) in certain areas. Paid a bit extra but over the life of car, good value. It’s a good size for the family. No need for suv! People criticise its looks but when you take care of them, I think they look really nice ( most cars do). Bought second hand last year (2020) 105,000 kms ( 65,000 miles) @ about $US $8000- bottom the range altise. Made in Australia! Thank you brother. Peace and best wishes.

    Hey AMD. Great video. Of course I wish I had seen this sooner but I am still glad that I saw it. I bought my Toyota Camry SE brand new in May of 2013. I never had any issues with the torque converter. I received the recall notice from Toyota in 2014 to bring in it for the torque converter shudder issue. Then it had about 20k miles on it. I had the recall done, no issues afterwards. In 2017 at 53k miles I had the the transmission fluid flushed (by my independent mechanic who is pretty good). He used aftermarket synthetic fluid for the flush. Again, no issues afterwards. Late last year ( in 2020) I started noticing that when I would coast between 40-45 miles an hour I would feel a sudden shudder then it would stop, then it would do it again. Living in NY I’ve hit allot of potholes over the years so I’m thinking hey, it’s my front end and I had better get it checked. I did and NO problem was found with the front end. It was then that I realized that I have the Torque Converter shudder issue that you referred to in this video. Now the car has 95k miles on it and shudders allot. I have an appointment with Toyota next week Thursday (9/25) for them to take a look at it. My question to you is this. Since they have to take part of the transmission apart, when the issue is fixed should I have them flush the transmission of the old aftermarket synthetic fluid that I put in there in 2017 and put the Toyota WS Tranny fluid in there. Or do you think doing this will cause damage? I am just concerned that mixing different types of tranny fluid will cause issues. Thank you for your time. Max.

  • @TheCarCareNut

    @TheCarCareNut

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Max, Thank you for watching my video. The fluid will get replaced again and if you didn’t have issues with the fluid then it’s likely compatible. There’s a very good chance your car will be covered by the warranty extension if you bought the car new in May of 2013. The dealership will take care of it from there.

Only thing I've changed is the drive belt and alternator.

    Two issues worth noting with this model. The standard radio (not JBL) has a common issue with the screen not responding to touch around the edges. Mine is bad at the bottom and right side. Car has 37,000 miles on it now, so not like the radio has had a lot of use. Other issue of Camry's of this date range is that they got a poor rating by IIHS for small overlap test in 2012-2014 ('14 ones produced in 2013). The 2014.5 model had structural changes making that version IIHS rated "acceptable," so look for a "2014.5" on the B pillar..

  • @TheCarCareNut

    @TheCarCareNut

    4 жыл бұрын

    Both are true. Though the screen edge issue was not as common on the earlier models and a lot more common on other Toyota radios but I’ve seen a few on this generation Camry. The safety rating is a subject I didn’t touch on because that’s not mechanical and that’s something for the perspective buyer to research on the car itself new or used. you are 100% right on the safety rating
