2020 Toyota Camry TRD vs Honda Accord vs Mazda6 // DRAG & ROLL RACE

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Thomas and James put some of the most exciting new cars head to head...most of the time. This time, its the economy sedans. The 2020 Toyota Camry TRD ($36,785 CAD), with its naturally aspirated 301 horsepower V6, goes toe to toe with the turbocharged Honda Accord Touring ($40,405 CAD) and the Mazda6 Signature ($39,150 CAD), which packs the least punch of the three in terms of horsepower, but the MOST in terms of torque. Who will take the win, and by how much? Things don't always go as predicted. Watch to find out. Subscribe!

I bought a '20 Honda Accord Touring 2.0T about 5 months ago and I am so impressed with this car. Not only is it surprisingly quick but it simply does everything exceptionally well. I honestly don't think people know how good this 2.0T Accord really is. I liked it from day one but the more I've driven it over the past few months, the more I like and appreciate how impressive it actually is. It rides well, drives great, is very smooth, has great torque, feels powerful, is economical, is incredibly roomy and even looks good, to my eyes anyway. Its weaknesses are few. My biggest gripe is the lackluster sound system and about the only other thing I'll knock it for is its relatively small gas tank capacity. Won't even hold 15 gallons. But once I'm driving it, I rarely even think about those 2 things. There truly is the heart of a sports sedan hiding beneath its unassuming sheet metal. Very hard to go wrong purchasing an Accord 2.0T.

I wanted one, but couldin't find one without the CVT. Went for a Camry instead which..when you put it in sport it's kind of fast, like never thought a camry could scoot. Biggest thing I like is that it feels like a big, heavy safe car. (kind of is, I get it) The doors just feel solid, interior has some plastic in it, but it doesn't feel cheap. I guess im just in shock after driving a little sonic LTZ for so long.

Most car manufacturers put the horsepower/torque ratings from the crank on the window sticker , Honda seemingly placed real wheel horsepower on the window sticker , when you dyno these 2.0T accords they sometimes record higher horsepower at the wheels than 252hp. So if Honda followed practice of other automakers and put 300 hp and 290 torque on the window sticker of the 2.0T accords nobody would have flinched at it.

None of you know what you’re talking about. TRD is always related to SUSPENSION tuning. It never claims to add engine performance, other than occasionally intake & exhaust. Every TRD model has upgraded Suspension. It’s not “just appearance”, although apparently it’s very popular to use that falsehood as a dig against Toyota. Doesn’t make it true.

I feel like something is off here honestly. The numbers don't lie, and there are a few videos floating around with the Mazda easily pulling away from the big red TuRD. I drive a '14 Mazda 6 6MT, and wouldn't ever trade out for a Toyota car. Even though Toyota and Mazda have been in bed together since 2015. That's the most disappointing thing, the second they start to pull themselves out of the hole, Toyota gets its grubby hands all over Mazda tech. Hopefully we don't see Toyota suck Mazda's soul dry because that's the best part of a Mazda, its soul. Like a Mazda designer said “In Japan, we feel that craftsmen inject life into what they make, so objects that receive the love and caring attention of these craftsmen have a vital force; a soul. As we are a Japanese car company, we believe that a form sincerely and painstakingly made by human hands gets a soul.” On the flipside, Toyota's are rolling appliances meant to appeal to the most amount of consumers possible and not illicit any emotions one way or the other.

its the low end torque. Its making 270 lb/ft crank, at only 1500 rmp's, so, yes, it will "feel" quick but ultimately it is a 5.7 - 6.1 sec car (under good temps - the colder the better - and limited wheel spin). The camry, with the way its geared with that 8 speed, even in cold temps, its doing 6.2 - 6.4 sec 0-60, thats why it did better on the roll. I would NEVER buy a TRD, all looks no go. That spoiler is just TOO much.

I got an 2009 Camry and love the look of the new ones. I did not get a new one because of the lack of HP and TQ. Instead, I got a Q50 RS. I wrote in to Toyota Corp and expressed my concerns with the brand. I felt that both the Camry and Avalon needed a performance boost to stay ahead of upcoming competition. During this time, Kia and Hyundai were really starting to push. My vision came from the TRD Camry sleeper. Toyota did listen to me, but the performance was not what I expected. The TRD versions of the Camry, Avalon or even Corolla should have the most power and be the fastest. Making it the same as the XSE and XLE made no sense. Neither did 301HP/267TQ . I understand these are considered reliable family sedans and could not expect too much at one time. One of the reasons Toyota didn't really add too much is because they don't want to surpass the Lexus brand which can also use a performance boost. Some people are like well get a Lexus or just get a faster car. No, they're missing the point. I love the Camry. I love Toyota. So please write in and voice your opinions to them because they do listen a little. I am still trying to push to get the Camry supercharger back on the market here in the USA. When they put out a better stock product, I might get one in the future. Still a nice car though.
