I prefer the vertical headlights. They should have continued with them because it now looks to similar to the GMC and Chevy models, the vertical headlights were Cadillac's thing.

I don't think Cadillac and Lincoln can be compared as far as looks are concerned. Cadillac is about being flashy. It's like look at me, I'm obnoxious. Lincoln is about being classy and elegant.

I think they look more different than their Chevrolet/GMC counterparts for 2021. The 2015-2020 Escalades bare a striking resemblance to the same generation GMC Yukons, with the headlights I mean.

the vertical lighting theme is a cadillac design cue that dates back to the 60s, and are remnants of the tailfin era of the 50s. to tamper with that look instead of evolving it, the designers risk losing cadillacs distinctiveness. rolls royce does not tamper with their grill even though the design of the car has evolved and is more refined than ever. the grill and body lines are still the same, the car is designed around its identity.

I'm a fan of Cadillac, but I just can't agree with the new generation of the Escalade. The 2015 model (at least to me) looks much better. It's more elegant, and look more luxurious. You have made a beautiful presentation with many wonderful and entertaining insights into the design. I think that the 2021 Escalade is the best-looking SUV ever. Our 2006 ESV (which replaced our 315k mile 1-owner Suburban) had a visually interesting up-slope around the C pillar and I'm totally pleased that the 2021 has brought back that visual and massively improved it at the same time. Did you see Cadillac's own presentation on the new design features? It's at 2021 Cadillac Escalade F2F Insider. You possess quite a gift. Please keep up the great work.

It's a small change, but I prefer the flat lower window line or beltline of the old gen. The new one with the kink looks more like an afterthought and breaks up the clean, flat lines of the car.

Those second row bucket seats look really uncomfortable. Coming from the perspective of someone who assists technicians with pre-delivery inspections on brand new Yukon Denali’s at a GMC dealership, I can attest to how rigid and stiff those seats feel (at least for the 2020 model year). I wish they had stuck with a normal column shifter, too.

I have 2 questions 1 - I wonder, Which software are you using for your designs? It looks like Adobe ilustrator but I want to be sure because I want to start practicing automotive design and I do not know which software to use. 2 - Should I invest in a tablet to do automotive design? If I should, then which one to look for?

I think the lines you're speaking of next to the vertical lights are more defined and "sculpted" in person. I think an air intake in this location would actually cheapen the look of the front end and break up the overall smooth, classic, and somewhat art deco look that you mentioned. Not to mention it would be a plastic and non-functional air intake like on the XT6. I think an air intake in these locations would actually make it look like a more common SUV. I really like how much surface space they left on the front, looks more "classic luxury" to me. I think it sets it apart. Great video nonetheless!

The rendering you made is a style that suggests power and efficiency with cooling vents all around. Perhaps Cadillac wants this newest Escalade to get closer to a clean square look at any angle to showcase its stance through its size. They kinda got away with all that real estate around the lights so that it doesn't look like other brands. I like this design language because it is more honest. Thank you for your impressions.

The 2021 Escalade doesn’t have that “wow factor”. The 2018 makes me think, opulence, security, expensive, luxury. A high spec 2018 in all black gives off the same vibe as a Rolls Royce when they roll by. The 2021 just looks like a bigger Chevy traverse with the interior of an xt5. This is a mom van not a Cadillac.

Ever think of making a sketch of this vehicle in the EXT version? There are many fans of that version and the Chevy Avalanche that was discontinued after 2013. Would love to see that CADILLIAC VERSION with rear lights that work just like the 2021 but ride down the back pillars in an inverted shape that follows the pillar lines. Add a truck bed like the old EXT with Tonneau covers, and an automatic collapsible rear interior truck bed like the original and the 3 stage multi pro tailgate like the Sierra but with the CADILLIAC styled rear liftgate.

The new Escalade design is consistent with the Escala concept Cadillac showed us a couple years ago. Your design ‘suggestions’ are a matter of opinion, the product managers and accounting teams all too often get final say on what design hits the dealership.
