The original Cadillac Escalade was a reaction to Lincoln’s Navigator and clearly a Chevy Suburban with a new grille and leather seats. Generation five shares almost no body panels or interior components with other GM SUVs. It has a completely different attitude, look and feel. The new independent rear suspension combined with Magnetic Ride Control gives it athletic moves. Seriously. Tom Voelk checks out a well-equipped Premium Luxury model and finds it to be the best Escalade ever. And thirsty.

Excellent commentary and add the 4K video as a cherry on top, this is becoming a go to channel for vehicle reviews.
I just happened across your review, but what I really appreciate are the video quality, including the details like where you filmed to suit the nature of the vehicle. Very nice!
Excellent video as always Tom. This is the best Escalade ever built for sure. That OLED screen is amazing.
I always leave a like but every once in a while to have to comment on how well these videos are put together. You are one of the best out there and hope you continue making videos for a while even though I can't afford 90% of the cars you review haha.

Not that I can afford an Escalade, but I was (surprisingly) excited to watch your review. Cadillac really upped their game and did a very good job. Pity about the fuel economy, but really, no surprise at all. As always, fantastic video quality, and audio. And of course, very knowledgeable information! Maybe something you can think of incorporating into your reviews, especially when you're doing three-row suvs, is to have you or Martin ride in the middle and way back and give your thoughts on not just what it's like to sit there when the vehicle is at rest, but what it's like to ride back there when the vehicle is in motion. I owned two Escalades and they are very nice vehicles. I purchased a 2003 when it first came out and a 2011 Platinum ESV. My concern would be the tech for long term durability. I think for less buying the GMC Yukon Denali. I like to see you drive one to justify the Cadillac!

I'm probably 20 years away from wanting a vehicle like this (for $80K I'd go F-Pace SVR), but this is flat out spectacular. The "bling" is there, but far less than you'd expect and it looks better because of it; much more mature. The tech, the power, the agility, the comfort....wow. When you are going this big, you probably already have another vehicle for your sporty needs. I love the X5M and similar but once I need a bigger SUV, I find the Euros less appealing. This or Navigator only in this size class. GM will sell fleets of these.

I hate to be that guy who complains about OLED technology being put in new places, but I do wonder if, like on OLED TVs with static interfaces, the screens might suffer some burn-in. Usually brands switching to OLED are very careful to tell everyone about the measures they’ve taken to avoid burn-in, but I’m not hearing much of that from GM. I hope it’s not an issue, because gosh is it ever nice in that cabin, and OLED is exactly the technology that car screens should be using. I’m sure that will make it feel expensive at night in a way that LCD panels just can’t manage. Thanks for the night footage! With all these new cars and their special interior lighting, having shots of it at night is really nice.
@DrivenCarReviews

GM has pretty demanding durability testing when it comes to electronics. I don't know how it's been tested but that wouldn't be a concern to me. And this is not the first OLED screen is a car so other manufactures have probably been testing as well.

How is the 6.2 new? It is making the same hp/torque as before. There is no way a v8 can run on 2 cylinder and not be notice. 3:35 The v8 Escalade is still slower than the v6 Navigator.
I already like this review more than that of Doug DeMuro and I barely watched 5 minutes
Although 420 horsepower is plenty I’m still surprised that Cadillac hasn’t increased the horsepower of the 6.2 liter V8 considering the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator offer more from their 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6. The 6.2 liter V8 in the Cadillac has been rated at the same 420 horsepower for a couple generations now. I’m surprised that we’re not getting at least an optional 500 horsepower V8 in the Escalade by now.
