@@philllsxga.7737 I should correct myself and say that while the escalade is 4 wheel drive, the audi A8s are all wheel drive. On an audi or a luxury sedan/crossover i would say all wheel drive is more for snow etc. Not off roading. The escalade however with its 4x4 system, is more of a 4 wheel drive system designed for off roading (not full time awd on road). The escalade you couldn't really use 4wd on road. Correct me if I am wrong.

I get why people say that 99% of these will never go off-road, but there are a lot of ranchers & other owners that live in rural areas where gravel, dirt, & rutted roads are common. Snow being another reality for some. That’s where low traction testing is important & applicable in the real world & I believe this Escalade hits the mark in delivering luxury, plus the type of capability needed for most scenarios (terrain).
I can attest that many of these will definitely see dirt. Those who live in rural America know that a lot of the roads are still dirt roads and in the winter they definitely see their share of off-roading. Not to mention that in the more rural areas it’s not as easy to find a foreign car dealership to get the vehicle serviced, whereas almost every other town has a domestic dealership. Now someone in LA or Miami may not have the same experience 😂
Depends on the person weather it goes off road. We have an 85k 2019 Expedition platinum and we take it off road all the time. Swapped out the 22’s for 20’s with Toyo open country tires. People think we are crazy but why have a 4WD and not use it for what is was mint for.

While obviously I agree with you, I’ve been offroading greens and blues and even some moderate blacks for years with 255/50R20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my LR4. It’s possible, in fact not even too much of an issue, but the driver has to really pick the right line. And of course you cant air down as much. Every stone, and I mean every stone, has to either be under a tire or far from the tires. Sit side view camera screen is nice for this. In some ways it’s been fun because it makes offroading much more intellectual and much more of a game, as opposed to point and shoot. Last time offroading I drove my buddies JK with 3.5 in lift and 35s and for the trail we were on, which is like most of our trails, it actually made it too easy- I mean you dodnt have to think about anything on that trail with his Jeep. His Jeep really needs bigger features than what most of our trails have. And quite honestly, that’s not what I’m interested in doing offroad. Of course those 20s are a worry, so I am in process right now of getting 265/65R18s. Those should be perfect for me.

There are quite a few people where I live that have 5+ year old escalades and use them as work trucks. If you get one that's well taken care off they can depreciate like 40%+ and then they make and awesome cushy towing/working truck for small business owners
you guys always answer my questions. your videos helped me decide on getting 2016 Yukon Denali to tow my travel trailer. Now you answered my question on what if I took escalade off road. granted I would put different wheels/tires if I got one.

Let me get this right the first time. First people were pissed and complained that the nomenclature was updated and these new badges existed AT ALL. *Then* they made it about Cadillac’s overstatements in the ‘400’ badges that are rounded up to the nearest 50 but don’t actually represent engines producing 400 nm of torque insinuating Cadillac was trying to trick people into thinking they were getting more than they actually were. _Now_ people are complaining that they’re *underrating* the amount of torque in the ‘600’ badge?
That thing did okay! Pleasantly surprised!
Love it!! Been waiting for you guys to get back out off road!
Need to reconsider the “Dare” moniker if a vehicle without a low range, rear locking differential, and street tires can make it look easy. Otherwise, another great vid guys

Thank you you made my mind up between the AMG GLE 63 and a Escalade. And I’m new here too enjoying your videos.
My uncles in Mexico love this suv. Very well recommended.
My God, I love this Scalade
Great review. Finally a reviewer addresses the suv aspects of the Cadillac Escalade and not just its luxury drive and interior. Thank you. There is one aspect, one specific feature, of the GMC Yukon AT4 and Denali that I have been trying to find out if it is also in the Escalade, specifically the "Active Response 4WD System" that sends torque as needed to each of the 4 wheels. GMC markets it extensively by that name for the AT4 and Denali, but despite having so many similarities to those, I see no specific reference to that feature or its capabilities in any of the Escalade materials. The Escalade is based on the same truck chassis, and has so many other of the GMC features, like the air suspension, magnetic ride control, the Auto, 2W High, 4W High, and if you get the Heavy Duty Trailering Package, the 4W Low. Maybe the escalade has it, but doesn't call it that, or maybe that is something the took out of the Escalade. Can you tell me, or any other posters here, if the Escalade has the specific "Active Response 4WD Sytem", or at least that functionality but doesn't call it that? Thank you. I would really appreciate it. Though I don't go "off roading" any longer at my 59 years, I very much would like to get the loaded Escalade Sport Platinum for its luxury driving characteristics and interior. It's just that I want an suv, and to some degree an suv's improved capability on a variety of roads, and road and weather conditions, especially during the worst snow and ice winter storms in ski country (the best time to ski after all). That active response 4WD system's ability to send power to each or any or all of the 4 wheels depending on slippage is a great feature for an suv. If the Escalade does not have it, I am left wondering how it deals with slippery roads and such, if at all. Thanks for any input on this issue you or other posters share.
What kind of cameras do you use for the interior shots? Just curious.
Quite impressive 👍.

The trail was not hard. Well, not for me and the 4 runner, anyway. So this is the second Cadillac I have seen off road in two days. Lol.

I bought my wife the 2021 yukon XL AT4 the funny part is that is has all the luxury options , back seat monitors, panoramic roof, air ride suspension independent suspension, the only downside is that it comes with the 5.3 and not the 6.2 but it had way more off road modes then the denali and the Cadillac...its definitely the best soccer mom suv and we dropped 80k out the door the denali and Cadillac with have been 20-40k more...
Awesome Tommy, so glad you pushed it some, I was afraid you’d chicken out.
So awesome what these new vehicles tech comes with. Who ever thought 360 camera view or labtop size touch screen on them. Soon we just be hovering over the trail lol

Yes bro your are really doing a good testing

NICE WORK TOMMY, I can smell it to...all the way to SC 🤣 gotta say, the mechanical sympathy of my brain was cringing.

The Escalade that you drove was far nicer, more upscale looking than the Cadillac that Mr. DeMuro had access to (mostly, it’s unimpressive black interior). It was a great test of it’s skill tolerance level. I don’t believe that the folks over at Range Rover have anything to worry about. Thanks for another insightful video.
No, you are not crazy ! This is what the thing was built to do!
Does the eLSD make it more capable than the Tahoe Z71?!!
Can you try doing the same for the Lincoln SUV's such as the Navigator?
That link between rear wheels looks so weird and low does it not touch while off roading
That shark fin antennae mounted to the side is truly strange. It needs to be in the middle at the back. What were they thinking? But impressive offroading considering the tires. Nice test.
Nice job Tommy!!!...it's a beautiful truck...lil scared of those big dash screens...think I'd prefer a mechanical cluster.. Scarry thought if those screens ever quit on you😕..102 Thousand!!!??
I like to see if the escalade can go off road on a hard dirt track, like the off road tracks we have in australia, not like that soft easy pathway that is used in this video.. Granted that i agree only the odd and very few escalade would see off road, but if it can do hard off road tracks well, cadillac could sell some here in Aus, and those merc GLS might have something to compete against.

I love TFL! Off roading a $100k Escalade!
I am actually considering getting one and replacing the rims with something black and Offroad Tires. I watched another video that said the air suspension was far better than any other truck on the market. So, I will be using mine for comfort, travel and occasional minor off-road.... it's either this or the F250 PowerBoost Hybrid with Air Suspension. Hmmmm
And I have one other question, I sure hope you see these two posts, and/or someone else knows the answers and shares: About 3 minutes in to your review, you discuss the electronic ltd slip dif, stating that it transfers power/torque to the left or right. I guess I have two questions about this: One, since I assume this is a rear electronic ltd slip diff, is it only the rear wheels that it transfers power to the left and right wheels depending on slippage, or is it both front and rear, it can transfer power to any or all 4 wheels? And two, by adding the 4W Low option, what is gained, what feature(s) and what capability? Thank you so much. And again, great review that no one else is doing.
