    @@yourinception Do you need to take Tyrosine as well @ 1:100 Ratio to increase Dopamine? Otherwise if you take 5-HTP on it’s own… it will produce Seretonin but decrease Dopamine

    I've tried low dose 5-HT a couple of times, and each time I have been nauseous and sick. There seems to be a correlation of IBS type symptoms and nausea with 5-HTP too - so the effect is really variable.

    I used to feel that way with 200mg pills, try 100mg with food in the morning and night or 200mg extended release. That helped me.

    Maybe you can try 50mg 5-HTP? It is a small dose and your body can react better to it.

    I take 100 mg of 5-HTP + 10mg B6 + Magnesium in one pill and I felt the improvement of my mood within 2 days! I was struggling with PMDD and wanted to find something to help me to go through this period. It has been 2 weeks now and I feel perfect. Usually specifically in those 2 weeks I feel depressed, can cry a lot and feel overstimulated by everything. This is an amazing supplement! However, pay attention to B6 doses, because 21mg per day is the maximum healthy dose. More than 21mg of B6 per day can cause health issues. Please check if you don't take too much.

    I recently quit alcohol and I've been using 25mg daily, I didn't know it causes you to lose motivation. I'm very driven in my career, exercise, and goals. Will this dosage cause me to lose motivation? I haven't felt unmotivated at all so far but I just started taking it.

    this commonly happens due to the fact that things that typically increase serotonin also decrease dopamine. often ive seen ppl take L-tyrosine along with 5-htp in order to help level out the dopamine levels too! worth a try and some research!

    You must supplement with L-Tyrosine if you use 5-Htp and vice-versa. Dopamine and Serotonin are on a shared axis, if you increase one, it forces down the other. Therefore, supplementation of these 2 neurochemicals must be simultaneous. Tyrosine in the morning empty stomach, 5Htp at night at least 2 hours after last meal - empty stomach.

    @@tejiyo Tyrosine 1g to 5-Htp 100mg. Also recommend taking a good methylated b-complex (Jarrow does a good one called B - Right) and at least 250 mg vitamin C, with each dose of both Tyrosine and 5-Htp. Dont take either for longer than 3 months. Otherwise it can affect how your brain makes its own neurochemicals (it tends to forget through non use, if it is artificially supplied for too long). If after a month or two of a break you feel like you need another course then this is o.k. Just remember it is delicate neurochemistry you are playing with and be cautious. I also recommend a good probiotic supplement, and a good source of fiber like psyllium husk in water with a tablespoon of cider vinegar once a day. Brain neurochemistry starts in the gut, those great little bugs make all our brain stuff there and it travels through the blood to the brain, they call the gut the "second brain" for this reason.

One question: I take a pre-workout capsule (Warrior Tanked) that contains both L-Tyrosine (50mg) and 5-HTP (400mg - 25mg of 16:1 extract of Griffonia seeds). Am I taking 25mg or 400 mg of 5-HTP? I weighed the capsule ingredients and they amount to much less that the weight of the stated ingredients. Is this 5-HTP (and other ingredients) in a concentrated form? I take 5-HTP seperately (2x100mg per day). I don't want to overdose. I hope you can help.

"it tends to forget" what the hell are you talking about? 5-HTP is a precursor that our brain already produces, obviously you shouldn't abuse it but it's not true that your brain forgets how to make serotonin, you are just parroting dumb and false online misinformation, same thing with the vitamin C and the other supplements, those suggestion are just useful for people who don't get those vitamins from diet, if they do taking a methylated b-complex won't do nothing and it has nothing to do with supplementing 5-htp.

    I have IBS-C and very little dosage of SSRI helps me, but I want to give up SSRI. Will 5-HTP help me with IBS? Raising serotonin helps constipation.

    You can draw a line between having stomach acke, and ibc-c. One of the outcomes are the very same, where your energy are being sucket out of you and you end up feeling down in the long run. And every situation suddenly are affected on that. Dr. Daniel Amen is a great tip. But also make sure you get to resolve the outcomes of having IBC-C; food getting stuck in the system and not being properly digested.     Something to be aware of serotonin is linked to a bunch of negatives, anxiety & autism for example , so maybe not the best supplement, serotonin syndrome kills people and is decently common, which points to it as something risky to raise Some recent studies blew the lid off the serotonin hypothesis of antidepressants , (ppl with depression tend to have normal levels of serotonin already, their serotonin countering receptor tends to have lower response)

    By advising people to supplement with L tryptophan and 5HTP, you only increase serum concentration of serotonin which is carcinogenic and cardiotoxic! If you look to recent data, you will notice, the reason SSRI works so good, because of selectivity to specific serotonergic receptor in the brain, does not increase serum concentration of sertonin in the body!!

    I wonder why this product did not contain an NALT supplement or similar. It's outright dangerous to run a 5-htp dosing program without balancing out the depletion of L-dopa. Did it say anything on the documentation that comes with this bottle?

    I finally got restorative 7 hr sleep with low dose (3-5 mg) melatonin. Then I used a time release 6mg melatonin/50 mg 5htp/10 mg B6 pill. Awesome sleep. Maybe alternate and take breaks.
