I think the original is meant to be an upbeat love song but Rosalía’s performance makes it feel like a heartbreak song and it’s amazing… Like talking to the person who meant the world and is no longer there but nothing can replace them or when you simply can’t have the person you love and no one else compares

the original is not an upbeat, it is a balad by los chunguitos. Is not as slow as this version but is on the flamenco side... Flamenco music is so beautiful, so passionate.

@G Gomez It is correct but in the context, she is tempted with an alternative to his lover, that's why she stays/abandon instead of simply choose, so It is better the literal translation. "I choose you" destroys part of the meaning IMHO.
Por los chunguitos es preciosa. Pero con el sentimiento con que la canta Rosalia no tiene comparacion. Maravillosa!
It hits me everytime. Especially the very last phrase when she says "que soy muy feliz" ("that I'm so happy") in such a broken and sad way, almost crying. Totally opposite what she says and what she expresses. I cry like a baby

Rosalía has such a talent to convey emotion in whatever she sings that it's not surprising you cried...I know I did the first time I heard this too ♥️ I really hope you continue to react to her as she has so much substance and talent. My favourite live performance of hers is De Plata live from Seville...it's astounding! I also love Aunque Es de Noche (official video version). This last one is based on a medieval poem written by an imprisoned monk about the spiritual love for his God. I really look forward to seeing your reaction to these and others in the future 🙏♥️

This song is a wonderful version of Los Chunguitos group. This performance was in honor of the soundtrack of a spanish movie “Deprisa, deprisa” (1981) directed by Carlos Saura. This is the reason why Rosalía tribute her version of “me quedo contigo” at Goya awards 2019 (spanish films awards)
