VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Liv only took 48 hours to buy a bus and quit her job to travel the nation. She was burnt out at her job in D.C., found the bus, researched skoolie life, and started her conversion journey. The kitchen was partially built when she purchased it, so she added to it and installed a top-loading fridge and cosmetic upgrades.
In the center of her rig are two hooks mounted for hammock chairs, allowing extra seating when guests are over. She prioritized clothes storage over a full shower room and didn't regret it! The bed in the back has a gorgeous broad view with windows and several small open storage spaces for plants, drinks, and a phone charger station.

I love what you did and why you did it... Sometimes when burnout hits nurses it's better to consider other options for our mental health survival. I left in 2010 for personal reasons. Life was getting in the way of trying to do it all. I' m a Mom of adult children, wife, ER and former Hospice nurse. Also a perfectionist at heart and realize there is no such thing in the profession. Best of luck. Stay alert and live your dreams. Willette from Alabama

I had been a nurse for 21 years and was already completely overwhelmed and burnt out when Covid came along. It didn't take much for me to decide to quit. Good on you for not forcing yourself to continue in a ridiculously stressful and unappreciated (by employers) job. I'm impressed with what you've done with the bus and wish you the best in your journey!!

For nurses who experience burnout and want to live a more nomadic lifestyle, I've seen a lot of other nurses accomplish this by becoming a traveling nurse, volunteer per diem at hospitals/clinics... be your own boss, have more control over where and how much you work and still get to travel and be a nurse, helping people, without the burnout! And this goes for many people in the medical field, not just nurses and everyone I've seen make this their lifestyle are all super happy, well-rounded individuals living life to the fullest! 😊

I'm a nurse for 35yr, travel agencies where always contacting me with offers ( phone, text, emails). I'm sure she's aware, alot of it has to due with the pandemic which is why I retired ealier than planned. It's is a great way to manage yourself as a business. I worked many years in my local level 1 trauma hospital, magnate certified, in critical care. I had burnout many times throughout the years but would have never had the guts to leave my security for this nomad lifestyle, kudos to her...

I've learned more from watching bus and van conversion flicks than from any politician. As to keeping the metal on a ceiling white or decorated, one easy and cheap way to use 'removable decor' you can get any kind of wild looking fabric at whatever length you like and 'pin it up' with small, powerful button/disc Neodymium magnets. They are also useful to place sunshades or temp curtains. And finally re: locking the door from inside: A simple solution would be to mount two Omega-shaped brackets, one on each door half, and slide a steel rod through them horizontally. Works like a dead-bolt.

Hi Liv. You should take your door locking handle off and see if it a square bar that comes from the back of the handle and fits in a square hole in the door catch itself. If it is you can drill through from the inside out and fit a longer square bar, so the square bar now goes right through the door inself. Probable done that way to stop the school kids opening it from the inside. There are loads of different locks you can then fit on the inside, key and keyless ones, so you can lock it from the inside. Any locksmith or good hardware shop will sort the bits you need, but you may need to cut the new long square bar to length. Have fun. Arthur (UK).

you might be able to lock the door from the inside by placing something similar to a hasp style shed type mechanism and toss a longish bolt through the hasp to secure it, or just place a round (like an eyelet) piece of metal on each door and slide a bolt through that. .

Being a man and having a daughter I absolutely love to see when women achieve their dreams. I always encourage my daughter to do whatever makes her happy and can't stress it enough that you don't want to be stuck in a job you absolutely hate going to. Money isn't everything. Im a big believer in doing what you want to do. I couldn't do it because my daughter is only 14, but in 4 yrs I definitely want to live the Nomad lifestyle. My Condo will be paid off and I will only be 49. My daughter can live in it and only pay utilities, HOA fees etc. Very inspirational and I'll be absorbing as much information as I can when I'm ready to go.

You are doing something fun and relaxing and that is a great idea. Another idea since you are ok not being in the same place would be to apply for a Travel Nurse or Nurse Travel. I don't know much about it but I recently saw a video about a girl that makes allot of money and everything is paid including her hotel. The only problem is I don't know how it would be traveling with a pet but I am sure there would be options. You can park your bus at a safe place for a while and come back when you want. Maybe there's a way to do it at the time you prefer and take lot's of time off too. Found the video, it's called, copy and paste: How this 28 year old is debt free making $30k a month & Barely works.

On your food cabinet, you have what looks like 1/2" plywood for the shelf...that will start to sag with weight, moisture and heat. I would attach an aluminum angle iron bar on the top of the shelf which will keep your food from falling out and give strength to the shelf. Or a piece of 3/4" X 1" board from one side to the other. You did an Amazing job on your Bus.

I would do both and make the bed futon style. Sofa for daytime, bed at night. I think there would still be room for storage and the cubby for the doggie. Do it like how Eamon and Bec did their last van conversion. They have a bench seat that opens up into a potty/shower area. They have a shower curtain that stays folded back until they take a shower or use the potty for privacy. When not in use as a bathroom, it is a bench seat. and that is a van, the bus has at least twice the area. So, she should have plenty of room for a closet and potty both and still have storage.

A way to lock that double door is to put a 2x4 across the 2 doors and secure the 2x4 on each end by bolting a “U” to each side of the door frame. Then when you go to bed , you just place the 2x4 inside of the metal “U” supporting bracket. Any hardware store should have the brackets. If there was a way to add a picture for you I would. The whole system should be well under $20.

Oh my goodness I LOVE Your Bus/Home ❤ I’d have to add a little bathroom/shower. I’m 60 with medical issues 😊 I love the layout. It looks so cozy!

Brackets and a bar would probably work for that door and be more secure. Nice bus conversion, very homey.
