*AURI, I HAVE BIG NEWS:* I told you a few videos ago that you revealing that you recovered from debilitating Depression gave me hope that I can recover from it too and...I DID IT!! I'm actually surprised things are going so well for me, it feels like a sweet dream; I'm happy it's my real life. *I wouldn't be here nor kept working if it weren't partly for your motivation. Thank you for understanding! I was under so much stress and pressure as a teen that I had an acute mental health crisis and was hospitalized for a week when I was just 16 years old. My Mom actually brought me my SAT scores to review in the hospital 🙄. I had another one at 19 and a third one at 22. It has taken me until nearly middle age to realize that I needed moderation in my life...and to get a good therapist who helped me sort all of that out. I still struggle with guilt that I should be doing "more". But I know that doing more and earning more isn't going to make my quality of life any better. It is just an echo from an extremely dysfunctional time of my life. Thank you for being an advocate for our young people!

Kids in the olden days were expected to do chores in the morning, do a full day at school (maybe having to walk a mile or more each way), do chores after school, and study before bed. Today it's more like parents having their kids in 500 different "activities" all the time. I'm so glad I grew up in the 80s and early 90s... being a kid was so much fun then.

This fact is a lot of the reason that we homeschool. My kids don't have that stress associated with not "achieving". My oldest, after not having taken ANY standardized tests through school, scored in the 98% on the ACT, so I know we're doing something right. We live life much more like the "olden days" when the whole family helped with chores and the garden and taking care of the home and each other. The only "activity" we enrolled in was karate and most of my kids have black belts.

As a fire alarm system designer, thanks for pointing out the need for a smoke alarm! It's so important. About 2/3 of people who die in house fires died in homes that had smoke alarms that were missing, disabled, or not maintained. Smoke alarms are critical for fires that happen when you're asleep because smoke will suffocate you in your sleep rather than waking you up and flashover can happen within three minutes of a fire starting! (Flashover is when it gets hot enough that all of the surfaces around you suddenly catch on fire including walls, furniture, etc.) Test your smoke alarms and blow them out with compressed air or vacuum them once a month, replace batteries every six months if applicable. Just do it the day you pay your rent or mortgage (or other recurring bill) so you get in the habit! ☺️

Just wanted to say, this channel found me several months ago, and it's made a huge difference. I have autism and ADHD, so I am really affected by my home getting chaotic and messy, but I struggle so much with the executive functioning needed to get it clean again. At first, your videos were just enjoyably satisfying to watch. But gradually, they made me feel like I could do it too, and that doing it might even make me feel good! And it did! Plus you teach us a bit more about cleaning science, so the work is a little easier now that I'm using the right tools for the job. Your work is important and compassionate, and you've made a difference in so many homes without even setting foot in them. 💜

I also am autistic and have adhd, and feel the exact same. I also have fibromyalgia which means chronic pain and fatigue which just amps up the inability to keep a clean house. When i feel even slightly up to cleaning, or i want to want to clean because the mess is overwhelming, i find one of AuriKatarinas videos and watch it until im ready to get up myself. Then i switch to a podcast so i still have my attention engaged to soothe the adhd. And when on breaks i go back to auris vids. Even if i only get 1 or 2 rounds of doing this for 10-15 minutes, its a step forward. And the steps are adding up, and importantly making me feel a little less anxious about starting each time. Also, consider trying different meds for adhd if you can, its absolutely night and day in these kinds of tasks. And they have found many more outside of the conventionally used ones now, look into non stimulant adhd meds. Even among the stimulants it varies so much too, for example for me concerta was hell and adderall just fit so much better. Of course only if you are ever open to trying them out again, and only when that time may come is up to you

Thank you for the respectful way you clean homes. I have a friend who is physically unable to keep up with her cleaning. I have offered to help, but I think she is too embarrassed. A plumber was there about a leak and offered to have his wife and a crew from their church who do this for free. She did agree and they came. But they just took everything off the counters and the table and shoved them in drawers and cabinets and now she cannot find anything. She is beside herself and feels violated (her exact words). I see when you clean you put things back in their place, organize drawers, cabinets or bookshelves - you are respectful of the homeowner and their feelings. I feel so sorry for my friend. I would have cleaned like you do, and not hidden everything away just to have clear surfaces! Some things were piled in a chair so they could sweep and clean the floors. Now I may never get her to accept help again, even from me. 💔

I once dated someone that was struggling with a lot of mess in his room (dead mice, maggots, rotten food) and I tried to help and clean, even if it was just for myself (because I used to be so afraid of maggots that I would puke.) He said he did not want me to clean because his mother would always clean and then look through his items and snoop around. I promised not to, but he would not bend or change his mind. Whenever I came over, he would shove his items (plates with food, laundry) in a cabinet and pretend it was clean. I would later find out about the parmezan-powder in the bed or the leaking fridge. Try cleaning together, if you can. Or you clean while she is sitting around and folds clean laundry. That way she can see what you're doing, she is not feeling guilty or "useless" and there is double work being done :)

Your videos have gave me a lot of encouragement! I wish you could come to the states and help me for like a week! Coming out of the worst depression and so is my mom. We haven't had running water in over a year. We took care of my disabled Dad for 20 years and he passed in January. We both have our disabilities to deal with and the house suffered big time. We are trying to make a fresh start now. I've been watching you to learn a lot about cleaning and it's helped me so much!!!! Keep it up!!

I am so glad to have found your channel. I have a wish to one day start a charity (UK, England) that will focus on cleaning, home maintenance and life skills. When you come to the UK you will see on television some programmes that deal with the type of homes you clean, but the attitude of the production is very different. Instead of the compassion and understanding that you show, the programme makers scorn the resident and do all they can to humiliate them. There is nothing in any home that can disgust me more than this cruelty. I know that cleaning is looked down upon, as if it is something any dumb person can do. This attitude makes me very angry. I also know it isn't true. I grew up in a time and social place where I never learned to do any home cleaning. I am ashamed to admit this, but it was never thought that I would ever need to do it. My life didn't exactly pan out that way. Frankly, despite advanced academic qualifications I struggled to maintain a home. Politically, feminism made the situation worse. The women's movement called for women to be able to access all careers, but unfortunately, they did it in contradistinction to household management. A skill traditionally done by women. Feminists would pour scorn on housewives and invalidate the feminine traditional role. In British hospitals, dating back to the days of nun nurses, it was understood that cleanliness in the infirmaries was essential. In British hospitals, the cleaning standards were immaculate. Consequently, the spreading of disease within hospitals was minimal. There are all sorts of statistics that could be brought in now. The cleaners were the best. They were women who had learned the skills from their mothers, who had learned from their mothers etc. Then, to save money, in the 1980s these women were sacked. They got in people who were unfamiliar with standards of cleanliness in Western homes. I must interject a personal stamp here. I am chronically sick and disabled. I am going to be 60 on the 29th of this month. I have personally witnessed the degeneration of standards, despite the "training" the cleaners were meant to receive. A cleaner would come into the room with a dirty mop and go flip flop with it (just once, bored) and then leave. I saw blood in the sink that stayed there a full week. Possibly longer as I was discharged. The hospitals are now breeding disease. We have a hospital problem called "bed blocking". This is where elderly, vulnerable and/or disabled people are left in a much-needed hospital bed sometimes for weeks because the "care" units can't get the care package together. Even when these girls (loath to call them women) do get it together, the help is useless. This is not funding it is poor management. This is harsh, but I believe it true. These girls want their university degrees, their endless meetings, their never-applied "assessments", but no one wants to roll up their sleeves and make the bed of a disabled woman. The bad management is connected to the bad attitude towards cleaning present in the culture. Most vulnerable elderly and disabled people need help with domestic tasks. No state or private company does domestic tasks. Older people end up losing everything when forced to go live in nursing homes because they can't afford to get a cleaner. Family is hardly present, and people are working numerous jobs to make ends meet and struggling to keep their own homes together. There are so many reasons why people end up in the state you show us. I think a charity should deep clean to create a fresh start, but also train the person to do each cleaning task. I have learned so much from you and also investing in the cleaning products you recommend has been a game changer. I have recently come out of hospital after coming close to dying, but with no practical support. Every movement I make is searing pain. I am grateful for the information you have shared. The young girls who run the "home from hospital" service just sneer "Why don't you just Google a cleaner?" and "Well, it's not our fault if you want everything for free." The younger people (worryingly) don't seem to understand the value of our National Health Service or that elderly and disabled people don't have enough money for private cleaners. It is also important for the culture as a whole to care for those weaker than us. There is an old saying, "Teaching a boy not to kick a dog is just as important for the boy as it is for the dog." Caring helps define who we are as people, and it is draining away from people's hearts. The nasty, almost gladiatorial British cleaning programmes are an example of this. There are many ways to infect a people. After the training, there could be a period of time when the person is helped to continue the upkeep. Elderly and disabled people who cannot physically do certain tasks would have a person help them with that. An example might be cleaning the windows or taking the "trashes" 😊 out. I would extend this to young people. Setting up classes to help them learn various life skills, including cleaning. I anticipate push-back with people not wanting their children to learn to clean, but there are ways round this. At present, this is just an idea going around my head. I wrote something like this to an American woman with a cleaning channel who had cleaned the black floor (should have been light cream) of a relative. His wife had always done the cleaning, but she passed away and the elderly man was lost and overwhelmed. He needed a combination of fresh start deep cleaning, training and support. She had been mulling over the same sort of ideas. Although the US is very different than Europe. I don't know if you will have time to read this, but I thought I'd put it out there anyway. God bless you 🌻

Auri, this is my favorite video of yours. While you are cleaning, you are sharing the young boy’s struggles. Also your philosophy about having balance in your life, the pros and cons of social media and having a support group of friends and family. I was especially happy to see that you and your fiancé are working together and changing lives together. Hearing his point of view as a man and the small touches he added such as the light and smoke alarm was insightful. Supporting your brand by wearing your pink gloves and sharing similar points of view. And I liked hearing your signature background music again. This video made me happy, as I see how your relationship has progressed and you both support one another. May you both always find joy together. Thank you for the joy you share with us. I see a woman using a ton of different products, spraying every surface with different one and immidiatly scrubbig it furiously and I think "she should watch Auri's video, how unprofessional to start scrubbing right away. You need to wait." You tаught me this and I use it at home too. Cleaning is much more fun now that I don't have to sweat that much. Love you!

You have helped me so much. We have had so much clutter in our home that I have often felt overwhelmed, cleaning around areas instead of getting through them. I was always start to panic because I never knew where to start. Now, I take them a section at a time and get so much satisfaction seeing how clean and uncluttered it is. I hate waste so I would hold on to things that I thought might be useful later, like nearly empty bottles of product, but it only caused problems. So, thank you for posting your videos.

Then every Thursday I clean my bathroom, every Saturday I do laundry, and every other Sunday I dust. I'll also vacuum every other week or when needed. My dad also installed a counter top dishwasher and that has helped so much.
