The language they are using is called proto-norse. It is similar to what the early Vikings would have spoken as well as the early Germanic tribes. Its a lost language. The costumes are also what those people would have worn. The translation of War Chant could also be War magic. My family has a strong connection to this stuff in our ancestry.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Heilung. This was from their first show together at Castlefest. I literally just saw them live in St Louis last night, and I'll be seeing them in Kansas City on Friday. I can't describe the experience of seeing them live. It's not a concert - it's a ritual.

@@TheMindofBruce I'm in Minneapolis myself, but I made the trek to the middle America states to see them. I'm not sure why they didn't come back to MPLS those year since they sold out in like 30 minutes last year. Yeah, a lot of Nords and Swedes up here. Lol

Eggja's stone (also known as Eggum's or Eggjum's stone) This is a large flat stone with runic inscriptions that covered a tomb dating from the period between 650 and 700 and that was discovered while plowing a field in 1917 at Eggja farm in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. In the context of the Lifa concert - all the songs go together telling the story of a peaceful tribe that was tricked into going to war with another tribe. That is why she asks, "who brings the invading horde here?" The most important song to hear from this set is In Maidjan - which means "to change deceitfully" or "to corrupt". That song features an important chant that includes all the Futhark runes and is one of the best examples of Maria's singing. After that, listen to "Alfadhirhaiti" from the same set. After that, you will be ready to invade your neighborhood.

Great reaction guy! Also, I think you caught The Look. Someone mentioned the problem crossing borders with the instruments. Maria has two bones from a human arm. Other instruments are painted with human blood. Maria is a priestess/sorceress. Floor with Heilung is a Valkyrie. Tatiana with Jinjer is a berserker. Aurora is a forest fairy angel.

Hey Bruce. Not super familiar with them. Heard a couple songs. They are definitely an experience, pretty cool. I see "Anaona" has already been suggested. That is the one I'm most familiar with, and yes you do want to check that out. They recently released a live version, but the music video has some good imagery.

I'm pretty sure that's all live sound. The tight coupling of all that percussion is stunning, to me. Through most of that set, you can hear the slow impact of iron upon iron, forging the weapon they mention at the first. One more aside : the band has actually had intermittent problems at international borders because some of their instruments are made of bone, sinew and hide, and I guess their are international laws/rules about the transport of said materials... lots of paperwork to fill out, so simple music can be played.

Maria's femur bones are usually the main culprits. The rest are obviously instruments and easy to explain. But she just carries around straight up human femurs lol.

I’m kinda glad my first one was with English lyrics, I am a lyric based channel haha, but I do a lot of music not in English and I usually get the meaning wrong lol
