The lyrics for the English part of the song, since I just know you're curious: What am I supposed to do if I want to talk about peace and understanding? But you only understand the language of the sword... What if I want to make you understand that the path you chose leads to downfall? But you only understand the language of the sword... What if I want to tell you to leave me and my beloved ones in peace? But you only understand the language of the sword... I let the blade do the talking So my tongue shall become iron And my words the mighty roar of war Revealing my divine anger's arrow shall strike All action for the good of all I see my reflection in your eyes But my new age has just begun The sword is soft In the fire of the furnace It hungers to be hit And wants to have a hundred sisters In the coldest state of their existence They may dance the maddest In the morass of the red rain Beloved brother enemy I sing my sword song for you The lullaby of obliteration So I can wake up with a smile And bliss in my heart And bliss in my heart And bliss in my heart Coexistence, Conflict, combat Devastation, regeneration, transformation That is the best I can do for you I see a grey gloom on the horizon That promises a powerful sun to rise To melt away all moons It will make the old fires of purification (of purification) Look like dying embers Look like dying embers Look like dying embers Look like dying embers Look like dying embers Look like dying embers Look like dying embers Look like dying embers Look like dying embers Look like dying embers

I dig those chairs! They look super comfy. The horn sound is kept going by a looping/sampling pedal that plays the sound over and over. Since it's just one note, it sounds constant. At the end he resumes blowing the horn because he wants the sound to taper off. Sorry if I'm explaining the obvious there. I read somewhere that the throat singing/growls they do have a historical basis. In some rune or manuscript, some ancient people were talking about leaving a village in I believe what's now Sweden and said that their singing was as of dogs barking. I wish I could find the exact wording as it made more sense than what I just typed, but I can't.

Krigsgaldr is one of my top three Heilung songs alongside In Maidjan and Hamrer Hippyer, but my absolute favorite is Hamrer Hippyer. It's a fantastically driving song, and feels so intense, but it's all about healing and it comes in three different languages across the song. It's like this intense ritual, wishing for the mending of bone and blood and joint. And then the song ends with the words "May it be of help." It's so fitting for Heilung, being that they start their shows with a mantra that begins with "Remember that we all are brothers" and their name literally means "Healing" in German. I haven't yet heard a song of theirs that I don't get lost in. Krigsgaldr feels like the sort of "flagship" song of Heilung, with the story it tells and the layers of sound and the clear change in "acts" as the peaceful village must rise against their invaders and enemies, and it is indeed the story of the album. Maria Franz's voice gives it so much soul, but she shines best in In Maidjan and Norupo for sure. Highly recommended if you enjoy this type of music.

@@MikeandGinger Yeah, it is actually a dead language that has been forensically reconstructed in recent years but very few can translate it (maybe a select few linguistic scholars). Most of the Viking and Pre-Viking culture and records were destroyed by natural causes or during the Christening of Europe under the Church. All we have left is some of the poetic Edda's, stone inscriptions and burial sites, to my knowledge, though there might be some other sources that I am unaware of. If I am not mistaken, Icelandic and Norwegian are the closest modern relatives to the Futhark dialect, but, again, I could be wrong. Either way, this is a great song and I am glad you enjoyed it.
