I love that most Chef Jean Pierre's recipes have a 17 year shelf life. That soup looks delicious.

@@myoldmate A medical issue, I won't go into exactly which one for privacy's sake. But apparently a Mediterranean diet vastly helps to reduce the inflammatory symptoms she suffers so we've been eating a lot more couscous, semi dried tomatoes, feta cheese, and fresh vegetables. Not such a bad deal, all things considered.

I don't watch Chef to learn how to cook. I know how to do that. (I do pick up things here and there) I watch Chef to spend time in the kitchen with a friend who is as giddy (maybe more) about cooking as I am. Pure passion is a sight to behold and infectious. Keep brining it. The world needs more JPs.

My parents and grandparents spoke a mixture of Schwabisch and English that I havent heard in 60 years. They could talk to the Amish and Pennsylvania Deutch. My grandfather used to call snow tires: snowshoe tires. I miss them. Love your accent!
I love Chef JP!!! One thing i do want to say though, please! People might be scared because of ALL the bowls he uses for his mis on place ( yes, i spelled that wrong 😂) but if you watch his video, you can see by when he adds thing, some can all go into 1 bowl, therefore cutting down on dishes. He just does it his way to explain and show what he is adding when. Don't be scared to put the celery and carrots in the same bowl, the herbs in the same bowl etc
This is a top five recipe from Chef JP
Escarole is a great substitute for kale. It's less chewy and has a nice flavor.

Seeing him fetch a bowl for (I'm assuming Jack) shows us how he's like when "the cameras aren't rolling"; he seems like a genuinely nice guy. Cheers for another great video, I've also never had lentil soup before so I'll have to try it!

Chef hit it out of the park again! Even better than my Italian grandma made it! He’s so right about browning the meat properly. I inadvertently forgot the sweet potatoes when I was shopping for ingredients. This dish still soared. I used a whole pound of sausage, because why not. This dish has such Wonderful flavors And textures dancing across your pallet. 🎉. Thank you , Chef! God bless you sir & keep ‘em coming.😊👍👊
My first thought was Yeah my kids are going to like daddy cook this, then I was like YIKES 😱 look at how many ingredients there are, but then after watching and hearing you make it I’m all in and my kids are going to be lucky kids now! 😅
Living in Italy, with Italian Sausage and a variety of Lentils, your Soup is delicious, believe me!!!!! Thanks Chef JP, you've made my day.

Chef Jean Pierre is by far the best chef to watch. Always has a good time and is very informative. Can’t get enough of the spirit fingers. 😂
Hello, Chef Jean-Pierre. I wanted to let you know that my 15 month old great-niece absolutely loves you! Put your videos on and she's entranced for hours, lol. She's the reason I just subscribed. I watched several of your videos when visiting her recently. You take the mystery out of great cooking. I am looking forward to trying some of your recipes. Love from your littlest fan, Veronika.
This professional chef does not speak much. On the contrary, every word he says is a priceless treasure. There are those who talk and talk for years and do not say a useful word.

Made this for the boys at work camp. I work in a gas plant with a dozen guys.... All of them were raving about it and half of them said this was the best soup they ever had!! This is definitely going into rotation at home and work. Merci Chef JP!!!
I love lentil soup. My grandmother used to make it with just parsnips and butternut squash. It was so good, especially when the butternut squash would break down, and blend into the soup. Yum. I will definitely make your grandmothers soup Chef. Thank you. Happy Monday!!
Chef Jean-Pierre I LOVE your channel! You are fun to watch and have a GREAT personality! Your cooking tips are truly appreciated! Thank you!
I make lentil soup once a week. Your grandmother is not my grandmother but they probably were neighbors because I make mine with the same ingredients except I use spinach instead of Kale. For New Year’s Day it is our tradition for: Health, Wealth and Happiness!!! Thank you for sharing. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just made this for dinner. AMAZING! Added a leek because I had one, and spinach because I did not have kale. The whole family loved it! I'm not afraid to season food anymore. Thank you Chef Jean-Pierre❣️
It's nice to see a chef talk about only cooking the garlic long enough to release the oils and then stop the sauté. So many recipes say sauté the onions and garlic together. NEVER DO THAT! This is similar to the same basic recipe I use for a wide variety of fast cooking bean recipes, lentil, navy, red or black bean. By adjusting the number/type of vegetables, tomato, spices and the type of meat, a wide variety of delicious soups can be made. It really is about the technique and general amounts used.

Yes and I underline NEVER!
I will try to remember this recipe. I love lentil soup, grew up with it in Germany. My mother came from the French border and she could cook like that. It's sad i never learned/inherited cooking skills in my life time, I rather work on old cars as a female 😂...my mother didn't have patients to teach me, so she send me out to help my dad in the garage. 🥰
The Turkish here make the most wonderful variety of lentil soups, so very delicious with only natural ingredients, no stock cubes.
Thank you for another great video. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada 🍁
I’m going to make this but with butternut squash and spinach to melt into the soup. Yummy. Thank you
Quick, easy and well worth making a batch to freeze for 17yrs!

I made this tonight, using the homemade vegetable stock recipe. I followed it fairly closrly, but used mild Italian sausage instead. If I were making it only for myself, I would use the hot Italian sausage. I will leave out the sweet potato next time. I don't think it adds anything, and I don't think it looks right as well. I don't care for kale, but it does work well in this recipe. The main problem is that it comes in a large bunch, much more than I use in this dish. All things considered, this is an excellent version of lentil soup, easily adjjsted to suit yourself. We loved it!
Keep talking Chef, I love you and your recipes.♥

Good Morning Chef. I made your split pea soup last week and it was great! And now I know what to do with the lentils that have been sitting in my cabinet!
A good way to have Kale always on hand is to strip the stems and pack the leaves into freezer bags and freeze...it then becomes brittle and you can just crush any amount and use it in any recipe.
