@@BritPopsReact This song is soft rock but the band isn't a soft rock band. This isn't a good representation of Heart.

From Wikipedia ... "In the United Kingdom, the single initially peaked at number 62 on the UK Singles Chart but following the success of the band's 1987 single "Alone" in the country, the song was re-released and reached a new peak of number 8."

Wow, this is one of out older reactions, when We did not have a clue really what we were doing and we may not have got out all the information we had. This is one of the few songs where Nancy Wilson sings lead vocals, normally its Ann Wilson, her sister who has a way more powerfull voice. Nancy normally just plays guitar and does backing vocals. Check out maybe one of their old classic from the 70s "Barracuda" and "Crazy on you" or from the 80s "Alone" and "Who will you run to" Also they did a great cover of "Stairway to heaven" in front of the band members from Led Zeppelin Heart - Stairway to Heaven Led Zeppelin - Kennedy Center Honors HD kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZJeOwad_cdDQYJs.html

@@BritPopsReact "Barracuda" is probably what they are most famous for, but also check out "Magic man" "Crazy on you" "Straight on" "Heartless" "Even it up" and "Bad animals" to name a few

This song was reissued in the UK and was a top 10 hit. This is a soft rock ballad obviously - Heart are a lot heavier than this usually. Check out Barracuda.

Nobody has Anne’s voice, she is Miss Rock n Roll. And Nancy is extremely Rock n Roll at singing while playing the guitar.

Its a very powerfull and beautifull song it is not less than 8/10. I think you underrated it just because they are not brits.

@Ivan Paez Cabo Errrr nope, it has nothing to do with being Brits, it was just not that great, it was a very 80's song and has not aged well. We give very high scores for songs not even in English, so it has nothing to do with where the artist is from, it has to do with how good the songs sounded to us. Oh and the scores are just for fun, we Brits like fun. Cheers

Ann is the usual lead singer for this group, but Nancy leads in this one. As hard as Ann sings, she needs a ret as backup once in awhile. Nancy is also a great guitarist. This is the most kickass lady group ever!

If you think that they are a soft rock band, check out ALONE, with Ann in the lead; or them doing Led Zepplin's Highway to Heaven.

This is from their sellout album. Their words, not mine. Most Heart fans don't like this song much. Funny thing though, it's their first number one hit.

To me this is one of their most boring songs. Check out Barracuda (which is more metal), Crazy on You, Magic Man, Heartless, If Looks Could Kill, Black on Black, all more uptempo hard rock. Alone is a great power ballad, probably the gold standard for 80s hair metal ballads. More recently they did "Stairway to Heaven" at the Kennedy Center in front fo Led Zeppelin in salute to them and it's excellent. But definitely check out some other Heart tunes, this is their lamest (In my opinion).

@Chris Acer Thanks for the comment. Yup, we think we may have picked the wrong song too but we will try and react to others. We have both heard the "Led Zeppelin" so we cannot do a reaction but maybe a "Relived" at some stage.

@@BritPopsReact Their harder stuff is so much better; when I heard you compare them to The Bangles or Belinda Carlisle I knew you were listening to the wrong song. Here is actually a more recent video close up of Ann singing Immigrant Song at a concert -- at 66 years old. kzread.info/dash/bejne/do2D0dR7dbbApco.html . I guess the ballads like what you reacted to typically sell more singles, but Heart and Ann Wilson have always been better on their harder material. Like I said, you should react to Barracuda or Crazy On You, especially if you haven't heard them before. You'd be blow away. Or any of the songs I listed above are harder stuff ranging from acoustic/electric hard rock (Crazy) to metal (Barracuda, Black on Black). Plus, the song These Dreams has Nancy on vocals, and though she's a good vocalist Ann is in a totally different galaxy.

It's a nice song, but they were better in the'70s when they were full on raw hard rockers.

They played a lot of hard rock in the 80s and 90s, but Capitol Records wanted them to be a power ballad band so only released ballads as singles. The best songs on this album were If Looks Could Kill, The Wolf, and Shell Shock but the only place you ever heard those songs were occasionally on hard rock stations. The singles in the 80s were some of their worst choices but it was the record company.

This is like their lamest song. It doesn't even sound like them and it's not even the lead vocalist singing (the dark headed sister usually sings lead and is the one with the great voice; the blond usually gets a token one or two songs on each album). This went to #1 for Heart because it was more poppy and mellow than most of their stuff, but it isn't a very good representation of their sound. You should check out Barracuda, Crazy on You, Heartless, Even it Up, Mistral Wind, If Looks Could Kill, Never, Who Will You Run To, Bad Animals, Wild Child, Tall Dark Handsome Stranger, The Night, Black on Black, or Alone (which is another ballad but at least it's a hard rock power ballad and it has the real lead singer and she kills it vocally).

@John Smith Hi, wow you certainly know your Heart, that's a lot of information right there. Yes, in our heads we were expecting something totally different too, we both knew the ladies from the Lez Zep Kennedy Show and were expecting a rock out, once it started we both knew it or the similar sounding song from the movie. Barracuda we both knew so we stayed away from that as we only at that time reacted to songs we have not heard and then things took over and we moved on. We may go back there or look for something a little different from them for our "Wednesday" reaction where we look for different versions or covers of great songs by great artists.
