The last 1970 Hemicuda built had a black hood scoop instead of grey. It was built on the last day the plant was open for the 1970 production year and they were out of the grey ones and the black ones had come in so, they used a black one.

A good friend of mine used to work at a local mom and pop garage. They did body repair. Engine repair. Oil changes. Stuff like that. Anyway,....the garage had quite a large clientele. One of which would bring his gorgeous black Hemi Cuda in every 5000 miles for oil change, plugs, plug wire, and tune-up. My good buddy had never worked on a Hemi before. So he calls me about the best way to go about changing the plugs.🤣🤣🤣So I tell him. Next thing I know,....he is pulling up in my driveway with a sad and dejected look on his face. He cross threaded 3 of the 8 spark plugs in that Hemi.🤨 I was completely floored that he had managed this. And to this day,.....he won't even look at a Hemi anything.

Here’s a trick for you guys that no one seems to do when you put the carb back on after a rebuild just before you go to start it use the vent tube to fill the bowl on the carb so you don’t have to wait on the fuel pump to get fuel up there especially on a system the hasn’t had fuel in it for years like this one that you put the new pump on too

Back in 1973 my two buddies and I were going to buy a Hemi 4 speed Cuda to race in Super Stock. The seller was asking $2,100 at the time (gas crisis) and we agreed on $1,800! Each of us needed $600 to own a piece of that baby! Sadly one guy bailed and myself and the other guy couldn't afford to build the car ourselves.😢 We already each were racing our 340 Super Stock Demons and a Dart. What a mistake that was letting that Hemi get away! 3.55 Dana rear and perfect shape! About 20K on the odometer I believe? Love to turn back the clock 48 years!😀

I watched one of their episodes where they took the whole front end off the car from the frame and then replaced it with an aftermarket using the same 30 year old frame bolts to put it back in place. Everyone knows that once they're torqued they've been stretched. Not to mention 30 year old degradation and metal fatigue. Saved a whole $10. One would think that's not the place to cut corners. These guys are just a little too "contrived" for me to watch very long. You wouldn't talk to your friends they way they present to the audience. C'mon man! We're all car guys. He makes enough money to make such investments, but too cheap to maintain the vehicles he owns? He is a business owner, obviously a fairly successful business! He has the means to rescue his own car. There are more people struggling to make ends meet with a vehicle that needs maintenance they can't afford!

Never ever put a poppet style thermostat into a big block Chrysler. Use the balanced sleeve thermostat. It flows better it controls the flow better, and I've yet to see one fail. I don't know who last put spark plugs in that engine. They didn't take the gasket off the bottom of the plugs. When you have those drool tubes that you're putting those plugs into the you are not supposed to put the gasket on the plug.

No excuse not to drive it. You still have to go to work. Sometimes you need to go to the post office for stamps and such. You can always find an excuse to drive. I just drove 532 miles getting the Corvette out after winter slumber just to get an new pair of bath slippers. You need to find the reasons to drive.

Man, when your busy running your business and running errands all you need is a vehicle to get you from A to B. To drive a car like this around daily especially while working would be a pain in the ass. You are constantly having to be prepared and worried about something breaking or someone bumping into or crashing into your car and if anything goes wrong which eventually will happen your whole schedule for the day is screwed. Its a fun car for the weekend or just to cruise in but when your mind is set on working or doing something important car troubles are the last thing you want to deal with. You also gotta remember that this is a 6 figure car so if someone opens their door into the side of your car and wrinkles a door or quarter panel that could easily cost a few grand to fix this isnt just a 2 thousand dollar disposable import car this is a rare and almost irreplaceable collectors car.

@@briang4470 Start small. You're running a business which means you're used to getting up earlier than everyone else. Tomorrow morning get in the car at 3 to 4 AM go to a 24 hour gas station and get some coffee and donuts. The coffee may be a bit stale at that hour but whatever. On the other hand in my area (SE Wisconsin) they restock the donuts every day at about 1AM so they are nice and fresh There will be little traffic so you won't have to share the road as much with the typical shitwits you find during the day driving slow in the fast lanes. You can have it all to yourself essentially. Get far out of town. Small towns in the country are the best for a good destination. Often there will be no one at all in the parking lot of the gas station so door dings are nothing to worry about. Use an on ramp to the freeway once everything is up to temp and let the engine breath. Once you get home you will be very energized and most likely more productive that say. Repeat once every two weeks for best results. I know the feeling about trying to keep your car as pristine as possible but just look at all the expense you went thru to get it back on the road just from sitting. Give it a try. Let me know how it goes.

The man owns the largest Mopar salvage yard in America. They've bought cars and rare parts from Mr. Stephen's over the year. Mr. Stephen has MULTIPLE HEMI cars and just regular Mopars that are show worthy and auction worthy. Like the man said, he's busy. When you have as many cars as he does some get put on the back burner. You act like the damn car is just a complete pile. It's a damn good survivor.
