Heading To Makro Food In Bangkok, Thailand

Here's a few links for my favorite credit cards. I try to check the links often, but let me know if there is a problem. If they change the offer on the card, I may need to update the link. Full disclosure, I get a few airline miles for referring a new customer. You should get the same public offer at no additional cost. Thank you very much.

If you enjoy checking out Bangkok and other SE Asia spots, consider subscribing. I'll continue to make videos showing the streets in Bangkok and beyond. Thailand is amazing and a great place to visit, work or retire. I'll do my best to show you how to live affordably in SE Asia. Plus, enjoy some great side trips from Bangkok.

Joe, with AIS, do you have a local Thai number or you use WhatsApp with your San Diego number?

It might be a waste, but I keep 2 phones. T mobile has a magenta 55 for $55 bucks. Good for traveling. Free 3g, text in most countries and 20 cent a min calls worldwide. It's easier to verify banks, etc.. when they send a code with a US number. When I have to wire money from Navy Federal, they have me read back a text code. I asked the rep, she said they won't use What's App, only US numbers. So, I keep my US phone in the condo attached to WiFi calling only. My buddies can text me free, and then I call them on WiFi. I need a Thai number for Bangkok Bank, immigration, etc.. I use AIS about $30. Most Thai plans are limited talk. Mine is 300 minutes a month with unlimited 5g. I think it's $30 a month. I've never had a phone call. It's almost 100% Line app. Everything is a text here. I guess you can video chat on Line, but nobody uses it. I also have What's App on the Thai phone, but 50% of my relatives, etc..hate apps. So the wifi calling works fine. Plus, I need that US number to apply for a credit card, banking, etc.. Maybe I'll drop it one day, but that's what I do today

I enjoyed this video, as usual, Joe, but it was a little hard to watch. I'm on day 32 of a low-calorie, vegetarian diet... No beer, either. There is a great selection of food in the supermarket. The "Sunday Roast" sounds fantastic. Do they have cilantro in Thailand?

Yes, they have cilantro. I forgot the Thai name. I eat pretty healthy, but I also have a pizza once in a while. Everything in moderation. OK, it's time to hit the gym. That helps me keep things level. It is very easy to eat vegan or vegetarian in Thailand. I eat way less beef here than in the US. But, I still enjoy grilled chicken.
