When I saw the video I was thinking "Fuck yes, awesome, love this guy, gonna learn to beat that prick always leg locking me". However. Upon watching the video... Jordan's advice to defend the straight ankle... Is to just not worry about it because if you COMPLETELY TEAR YOUR LIGAMENTS yourself then they can't do more damage"

The main (only) problem i have with your videos is that it all looks so controlled, calm and calculated. For the second time since christmas i've got discs in my neck herniated during mat time at the gym where i train BJJ and MMA. I just love how you guys respect eachother and focus on technique and execution over power and "forcing it". Keep up the good work Jordan!
Thanks Jordan, I always enjoy your roll commentaries!

Loved watching Harry win Adcc in just over 2 mins 😊
Great video like always! Actually I did karate kyokushin and played football and damaged both my ankles, many times twisted. So now when I twist it’s just nothing 😂 They same when they catch my leg and leglock I just take out most of the time. Maybe I’m lucky or because of my ankles past 😂😂😂
Awesome roll
The gym like this is a dream I remember my very first jitz class I was taught a spinal bar from butterfly guard lol I didn't know that was a no no at other gyms nor knee bars this man taught 3 different knee bars day zero lol I miss that gym this was like 10 years go it's not too often you find a gym where all subs are welcomed as long as controlled I respect this greatly

Simple and effective tips
Hey Jordan, do you allow or even teach your beginners (white/blue belts) to use leg locks? I find that some bjj gyms aren’t too fussed about it as long as you’re being safe and other gyms will lose it if you even twist the knee a little. Great video! Looking forward to that leg lock tutorial you mentioned in a community post.

Yepp at my gym leg locks are taught to everyone. I don't teach a lot of leg locks in my classes but we do have one instructor who does as he's big into leg locks just like Harry. I think it's fine because the expectation is always to apply submissions safely. Teaching beginners what's safe and what isn't is better than ignoring a whole category of submissions imo. I'll make that video real soon! Gotta film some more rolls with the leg lockers at my gym to make it!
Your training partner had a very nice calf slicer escape! I think fleeing from the heel hook position while no longer rotating got him into trouble.

Wow! How long has harry been training and is he a full time competitor?
I noticed that leg entanglements ate very neutral. Both people can attack the others’ leg or come up.
i am beginning to enter leg lock territory but then my acl got partially torn (because of football) so now i am not allowed to go 50/50 positions 😔 but i will watch it anyway 😁

I just blew my knee trying to do a calf slicer. Head and felt a big crack as I was puting my chest on him. Waiting next week to do an MRI because I cannont band or extend my leg ^^'
Okay, so to defend the straight ankle, first completely tear the ligaments and then just don’t worry about it. Got it

Thanks man! Competing is a huge energy drain and much higher chances of injury. I prefer just teaching these days although I know I'd do very well if I did start competing again. A quote that I try to keep in mind is "you can do anything, but you can't do everything." So I gotta choose wisely what I spend my energy on 🙂
How do you defend the over under? That pass is my kryptonite.

One thing I dislike about ‘leg lockers’ is that it’s the only thing they fixate on. So many elite competitors now are very good at leg lock defenses that if he can’t get a leg lock they look lost or are just very deficient at other attacks. Take Gordon for example, lost to Pena twice cause leg lock was the only thing he was going for. Now Gordon changed his game to be way more diverse and is unstoppable (that plus lotta PEDs).
Damn footlockers
And now to work on leg locks instructional?
Are your feet/shins a little numb as well? If so I may have found out why my training partners have such a hard time tappin me with foot locks lol
I took Gold in the IBJJF Atlanta Open master 2 purple belt in the Heavy division. Along with my coaches, I give credit to you and your videos for teaching me. Oss Jordan…
Gonna roll my ankles everyday so when I train I can get leg locked as much.

Yepp but didn't really learn leg locks from me. Maybe some basics here and there but if anything I've learned from from him about leg locks than he's learned from me tbh.
Need a knee surgery just from watching this!😂
So the answer is no, lol. I like your content, but Ive noticed one thing about all of your videos. Ive never seen any of these types of videos from you result in your opponent tapping you, even once. Are you just that good? You should be competing!
@JordanTeachesJiujitsu
Ай бұрын
Bernardo definitely got the better of our we did together, although he didn't tap me. If I ever get tapped I'll post it. Some people think I only post rolls that make me look good, but I actually am good, and it's not my fault I do well in the rolls lol. Imo I can hang with the best guys in the world, but likely can't beat them. If I dedicated myself to competion training, maybe that would change. Maybe it wouldn't though. I just don't have the motivation/desire to do that either way. I've got 3 kids, 2 gym's, a KZread channel and already have spent years competing and have done well.
