Yeah, hiring someone who's been a manager off and on for 40 years and has 2 domestic cup trophies to show for it, who's been hired as a manager 3 times over the last 10 years for a total of 2.5 years combined. Great decision.. Bet United will keep falling on the table. If they're lucky they'll get top 8. Forget about top 4.

@@aslemartinsen5284 His realise expertise is in managing a football club off the pitch, which is why his contract includes a 2 year consultancy role following the 6 or so months as manager. He’s simply keeping the permanents manager’s seat warm as mentioned in this video, because the Utd hierarchy clearly have someone in mind who isn’t available currently but could be in the summer. It’s an ingenious move, having someone with more experience than say Michael Carrick for example, look after the rest of the season and then following that offer his experience and know how in other areas of the football club

The possible scenario is for the next 6 month Ragnick would teach Carrick how to be world class manager. In the summer he will advice Glazers to appoint Carrick for Man United's permanent manager, and he'll mentoring and giving him consulting for the next 2 years. People saying ronaldo doesn't press or defend, does they actually watch the matches, yes he doesn't do it all game he's 36 but you see him running to defend and shout at others, he puts his hart to it even though it's not his part, it's funny because whenever someone wants to make a highlight they mention ronaldo

If United are planning on using Rangnick's expertise on improving the club's structure until the summer, would they be looking to appoint him to a technical role like Director of Football? It was likely Murtough's idea to bring him here and he opened the negotiations for hiring Rangnick. Maybe Murtough could be next in line for the role of CEO when Woodward leaves. Who knows?

United still has a long way to go. It seems Sir Alex Ferguson had put structures in place that other coaches have failed to emulate. The club management should give coaches the freedom to do what they think is best for the club and not force them to maintain the club traditions which may not work in this era. Then United should start firing coaches who are not performing immediately since keeping them for long is not productive to the club. Advice from a Chelsea diehard fan.

This appointment is a long term move by MUFC to change the entire footballing philosophy of the club. Arguably he will have a greater effect once he's moved to the DOF role. It's not about the trophies he hasn't won. It's about his tactical innovations. He is one of the most influential coaches/ sporting directors in the game. His work at RB both as coach and DOF is universally acclaimed. Whether that be at Leipzig or Salzburg.

From his time at Leipzig, I can tell he is purely tactical. Unlike Ole who used to depend on talents. Rashford is a player with speed and good finishing skills. Ole knew he had nothing of those sorts in the Utd squad and so he kinda ended up exploiting Rashford. Which in the end led to one injury after the other. Leipzig on the other hand had players who just knew that to win, they'll have to follow the manager's tactics. I feel things will get better for United from here on. Hope we make it far in UCL this year, and henceforth
