He Stole MY SHOTS! Traditional Bowhunting Hogs in Florida

Спорт

This week Fen and I are driving down the the Kissimmee Prairie in South Florida to meet up with our friends Scott Crippen of Lost Arrow Films, Flip Pallot, and Don Davis. We'll be traditional bowhunting hogs and deer from the ground in the south Florida scrub. I'm hunting with an osage selfbow, the same one I took on Alone Season 8, and Fen is hunting with a little sinew backed osage recurve bow. He's drawing about 30lbs at 26". His arrows are 700 spine Traditional Only carbon shafts, 50 grain insert and 150 grain Grizzly broadheads. This has got to be the craziest hunt I've ever seen! Spot and stalk wild hogs!
Don't forget to subscribe to the channel. We're uploading a new video each week that features one of the following topics: archery, bow hunting, bow building, survival skills, bushcraft, self reliance, primitive skills, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing, and a lot more!

@dakotah rose Right on. These are the types of videos that continue to teach me even as an adult, on what type of father to be, since I didn't have an example in my life. Hopefully, my kids will be thankful one day for me, showing them all things I didn't experience.

Hey folks, thanks for watching! I know some of you will have questions about Fen's setup so here it is. He's shooting a sinew backed osage recurve pulling around 30lbs@26". The arrows are Traditional Only carbons from 3Rivers. Up front I've got a 50 grain insert and 150 grain Grizzly broadhead. The first hog went down within 30 yards, the second within 70 or so. The second shot broke a rib on entry and stopped in the opposite side of the chest cavity. The arrows were made by Andy over at AddictiveArchery.com Also, huge thanks to Scott Crippen for inviting us down to this amazing place. Scott is trying to build his KZread Channel with some amazing traditional bowhunting content so please take a minute to head over to Lost Arrow Films and give him a sub. I see some great content coming!

People don't realise how far a sharp 125g will penetrate out of a 25# kids bow, especially at 27 inches 🤷🙏🙏🙏😍

Hi Clay. 30 pounds is too little to kill a wild boar. Could it be that the issue is putting a lot of weight on the front of the arrow? Thank you very much for the video.

@ Manuel González Zambrano Weight forward adds in penetration not detracts. Rearward weight causes the shaft to bend in the middle slowing momentum, increasing breakage, & decreasing stability in flight. A 30# draw will easily take game, many if not most Native American bows were either light weight in draw or highly inefficient at their weight, more likely both. Yet they consistently killed large game with them.

I know its not my place but you might want to talk to Fen a little about safety, that shot at 20:56 could've turned bad if he had a bad shot or if you sidestepped to the right for whatever reason. Keep up the awesome work and thanks for the great content!

When I could hunt I always felt that the stalk was the best part, often I could move in on my game undetected, there were times when I got so close I could touch it. But then we all have those days when you blow it so bad you barely got close enough to see them. LOL good memories.

I did the same thing with deer here in southwest Ohio before the deer population exploded in the early 90's. I just took the still hunting skills from squirrel hunting for 25 years and usually kept my shots on deer to 25 to 30 feet with my Fred Bear #40 pound bow. When the deer population exploded in my part of the state. Squirrel hunting stopped 100% as everbody bought a tree stand and lectured their farm relatives to keep other hunters away. When a .22 or shotgun went off - guys with less than a year hunting experience would get furious. Now nobody really learns to still hunt for squirrels.

I'm hoping and praying your children stay traditional bow hunters for life, pretty impressive shooting from the young man.

That's awesome man. Its a. Undescribable feeling. But it's only felt and known by those dad's who've thought their sons what they know. They prude you feel your son bettering the teacher.well that's the goal ain't it? My son is only 4 going on 5 but he's getting there. Loves bows and arrows.shooting his pellet rifle. Grabs the squirrels and watches me skin em and make a pelt. I'm proud to say my son is a little hunter in the making. The little moments we've had. I'll never forget
