He Stole MY SHOTS! Traditional Bowhunting Hogs in Florida
Спорт
This week Fen and I are driving down the the Kissimmee Prairie in South Florida to meet up with our friends Scott Crippen of Lost Arrow Films, Flip Pallot, and Don Davis. We'll be traditional bowhunting hogs and deer from the ground in the south Florida scrub. I'm hunting with an osage selfbow, the same one I took on Alone Season 8, and Fen is hunting with a little sinew backed osage recurve bow. He's drawing about 30lbs at 26". His arrows are 700 spine Traditional Only carbon shafts, 50 grain insert and 150 grain Grizzly broadheads. This has got to be the craziest hunt I've ever seen! Spot and stalk wild hogs!
Don't forget to subscribe to the channel. We're uploading a new video each week that features one of the following topics: archery, bow hunting, bow building, survival skills, bushcraft, self reliance, primitive skills, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing, and a lot more!

@dakotah rose Right on. These are the types of videos that continue to teach me even as an adult, on what type of father to be, since I didn't have an example in my life. Hopefully, my kids will be thankful one day for me, showing them all things I didn't experience.
Hey folks, thanks for watching! I know some of you will have questions about Fen's setup so here it is. He's shooting a sinew backed osage recurve pulling around 30lbs@26". The arrows are Traditional Only carbons from 3Rivers. Up front I've got a 50 grain insert and 150 grain Grizzly broadhead. The first hog went down within 30 yards, the second within 70 or so. The second shot broke a rib on entry and stopped in the opposite side of the chest cavity. The arrows were made by Andy over at AddictiveArchery.com Also, huge thanks to Scott Crippen for inviting us down to this amazing place. Scott is trying to build his KZread Channel with some amazing traditional bowhunting content so please take a minute to head over to Lost Arrow Films and give him a sub. I see some great content coming!

People don't realise how far a sharp 125g will penetrate out of a 25# kids bow, especially at 27 inches 🤷🙏🙏🙏😍

Hi Clay. 30 pounds is too little to kill a wild boar. Could it be that the issue is putting a lot of weight on the front of the arrow? Thank you very much for the video.

@ cliff brown The bots are on every single channel. All the content creators are aware but they are powerless to stop them, frankly YT doesn’t even care about it.

@ Manuel González Zambrano Weight forward adds in penetration not detracts. Rearward weight causes the shaft to bend in the middle slowing momentum, increasing breakage, & decreasing stability in flight. A 30# draw will easily take game, many if not most Native American bows were either light weight in draw or highly inefficient at their weight, more likely both. Yet they consistently killed large game with them.

@@krownedklown420klik9 it's always about shot placement and consistent practice is the key...
Tell Fen he's an idol to younger boys. My son is 5 and loves coon and rabbit hunting and calls himself a "gopher hunter" with his bow. He said he wants to be like Fen when he's older! Thanks for the great videos for us to watch together

I hope it doesn't keep you down for long!
you have been blessed with a wonderful son, and you are killing it as a father! these moments are what makes life worth living, it is awesome that you are able to record them. as time goes by, these moments fade- having them on video preserves them forever.
There is nothing more satisfying than watching your children walking in your footsteps. Keeping the tradition alive.
He's turning into one hell of an outdoorsman. The fact that he was so quick to voice his concern over the shot placement (despite being decent) is very proving of his character. awesome job, and wonderful to see.

This is hands down my favorite video with Finn getting shots ahead of his Dad, Clay. 😁 The look on Finn's face of total accomplishment is worth it all!!! 💯 I can only hope to be as good as either one of these excellent bow hunters! 😎

On that third pig I was wondering how Clay got a second arrow nocked so fast and then realized he had never shot! 😂 What a little scamp that Fen is! Love seeing a father and son doing things like this together. Can’t wait until my boys can draw legal weight in my state.

That’s true love between a father and his son. Fantastic to watch. 👍🏻🇨🇦
This was fantastic. A seasoned ol timer killing a nice buck and the next generation out there piling em up. Doesn’t get better!
Hey Clay, I think your content is awesome and you're a great dad. I know its not my place but you might want to talk to Fen a little about safety, that shot at 20:56 could've turned bad if he had a bad shot or if you sidestepped to the right for whatever reason. Keep up the awesome work and thanks for the great content!
Fen is a legit sniper! Well done young man!
Bro, I got teary eyed at 15.11 when you two embraced each other and your spirits soared together! Took me back to my own childhood and the memories of my own Dad's excitement over my first nice buck. I was so fortunate to be raised by a father who taught me to appreciate, conserve but consume nature and I just love how you are raising your boys. Much respect! BTW...hunting with Flip...OMG!!!

That boy is a Hunter, Dad! I'm proud of you 2.
The lad is not so cautious with his shots. That's why he beats dad to the shot...and he connects also. The makings of a very good traditional bow hunter... I am sure there is still more on the ground for his father to teach him. We become good at what we do and we make our kids better. Your boy will become the sum of all you have done ..and then some Clay. I was lucky enough to have these moments with my son and daughter... they are priceless. Happy Hunting Clay and son!
Yes sir yes sir not only making memories but putting meat on the table…… Nice…. Thanks Clay for taking us along
You can tell he has a good teacher and nerves of steal. Great hunt I really enjoyed it
Loved watching the bond between father and son in this trip. Can’t wait till my boy is a bit older and can start taking him on trips like this. So awesome!

Quite a young man. With woodsmen like yourself and Flip Pallot he should be a force to recon with. I have been a fan of Flip for years and am glad to see him out in the woods, kicking Whitetail tail.

You are bringing back soo many memories of my youth in interlachen . The 70s and 80s were a fun time to grow up. Glad to see it passed on to the younger generation. God Bless You ALL in Jesus Name Amen 🙏
Love seeing Finn in action. Warms my heart.

Clay being absolutely flustered by Fen just stealing all the shots is hilarious. At first, I was gonna comment something positive about how Fen gets to go hunting with his dad and the "big boys", but now maybe you should've left him at home, so you could get some shots off 😂 Lovely video.
I'm not a father but I would not be more prouder of my kid if they pulled something like that off, keep it up.
That was awesome! I was rooting for Fen and laughing at the same time. The kid can shoot!
Watching Fen hunt is the best hunting content on KZread.
I love the way that Fen is becoming an accomplished bow hunter. For a youngster living in Idaho he sure does act Southern. lol

helps his dad and that side of family is about as Florida as they come.
When I could hunt I always felt that the stalk was the best part, often I could move in on my game undetected, there were times when I got so close I could touch it. But then we all have those days when you blow it so bad you barely got close enough to see them. LOL good memories.

I did the same thing with deer here in southwest Ohio before the deer population exploded in the early 90's. I just took the still hunting skills from squirrel hunting for 25 years and usually kept my shots on deer to 25 to 30 feet with my Fred Bear #40 pound bow. When the deer population exploded in my part of the state. Squirrel hunting stopped 100% as everbody bought a tree stand and lectured their farm relatives to keep other hunters away. When a .22 or shotgun went off - guys with less than a year hunting experience would get furious. Now nobody really learns to still hunt for squirrels.
Fen is a straight up killa!!! Congratulations guys on some awesome memories
My dad grew up like this, never took the time to teach me. Good job man.
I think there's something to be said there, When you tell the older gentleman goodluck, And he says have fun!
Go Fen!!!!! Keepn' Dad on his toes!! Step it up, Clay!🤣🤣🤣 A priceless memory!!❤️
Awesome hunt with Fen! Man, he was getting it done! Really good population of hogs, good to take some out. Can’t imagine what it would be like for that young man to be out on a hunt with his father and Flip. Will be a memory he’ll treasure forever. Thanks for sharing

Great job being a father. I wish I had that experience growing up. A father and one that would have taken me hunting. All good. Things aren’t meant for everyone
I hunted around Lorida Florida . On the Kissimmee. Anne's dinner the best stakes in the world around 1996 . This brings back memories.

That's awesome man. Its a. Undescribable feeling. But it's only felt and known by those dad's who've thought their sons what they know. They prude you feel your son bettering the teacher.well that's the goal ain't it? My son is only 4 going on 5 but he's getting there. Loves bows and arrows.shooting his pellet rifle. Grabs the squirrels and watches me skin em and make a pelt. I'm proud to say my son is a little hunter in the making. The little moments we've had. I'll never forget
Like seeing kids get out hunting. He placed a good shot and even got his arrow back. Lots of good food there.
