It would make sense if the DisplayPort cable configuration is used in those restaurants and fast food chains where they have the menus displayed on multiple LCD screens that are alongside each other. Sometimes you see 4 and 5 screens in a row next to each other. So it would make sense to use DisplayPort for the cable setup rather than individual video cables. Seems like that setup would use a lot less wiring and a lot less internal Hardware on the video source equipment.

USB versions are identifiable by their color inside the connector. White is 1.0, black is 2.0, dark blue 3.0, light blue 4.0, all with successive and higher data rates.

July 28, 2020 - Thank you. Your explanation was as clear as eight or 10 K video. No wonder I have so many adapters in my tech drawer. Thank you for clearing up some ongoing confusion. The one problem many folks have commented on is that the newer connectors are fragile. And have a high pin density.

@@stephensnell5707 Hi Stephen... Thanks for your comment. I do hope today's connectors are more durable and are seated to stay. Yet allow easy removal when changing TVs and the like. Perhaps I have to admit that I still remember the locking screws to the left and right of older computer connectors. But tech marches on. Thanks again.

AHA That makes so much more sense now with the DVI single link over the DVI dual link cables, that's why I couldn't gain anything over 1920*1200 resolution so DVI - Dual on my slower hardware and HDMI from now on my faster hardware !! ..... excellent work @ PowerCert
Vividly described. Great work man..!! 👍

Which is part of the conspiracy and confusion. Unless they all match on all your equipment your best speed (picture resolution/frequency) will only be as fast as the component with the slower generation. In other words, your new HDMI 2.1 device will only display HDMI 1.4 quality.
@ryans413
4 жыл бұрын
HDMI only has to versions 1.4 or 2.1 there where many cables in the beginning that offers different speeds like 2gb 3gb 6gb. Different bandwidths but all the cables were still 1.4 compatible with all other devices. Like the guy said HDMI 1.4 can do up to 4K at 30hz. It’s confusing but all HDMI cables now can do 4K 30hz they are all made the same and of you buy a cable that’s 2.1 then you can do 4K 60hz

I am learning about computers and how different cables are used. This video has helped clear up the mystery of what cables are used for and why. Thank you for the video.❤
Many thanks for Your clear Demonstration Sir. I was Looking to Connect 3 Monitors and You Solved the Problem by explaining the Display Port.!!
Just the video I was looking for. Short, sweet, to the point about all the differences for these cables. Tried to connect a second computer DisplayPort adapter to dvi-d and no signal. Older monitor and or drivers and display management software etc. even the DVI-d to VGA port on monitor still don’t work. Now I’m beginning to understand that not everything on monitors is just plug and play, and learned some are bidirectional and others cables and connectors are one direction only, some older monitors WIN XP cannot support newer co liters running windows 10 enterprise etc. sheesh lots to learn for a so called simple dual monitor project I had at work. They basically need to buy a newer upgraded monitor with a displayport connector on both ends to max resolution output or daisy-chain additional monitors etc. Thanks. 😀
Great video! This kind of adapter is really convenient to solve the problem of conversion. Not long ago I bought a renhotecic brand adapter to convert video, it works very well and is very convenient. You can prepare one if you need it.
Thank you for this explicit video.
Excellent video. I do a lot of STEM work with MS and HS kids and look for better ways for them to learn. I didn’t even know on the daisy chaining but gonna play around later and try. Kudos on vids.
Great video as always! Just small notice, VGA also have a locking-in-place mechanism, which are 2 screws

Nice video and explanation. I totally respect the skills. Thank's !?
GR8 Video, thank you. Just two things you should have mentioned for DisplayPort daisy chaining: For daisy chaining via DisplayPort all monitors (except the last one inside the chain) must have a DisplayPort output interface, in addition display port version 1.2 is required for daisy chaining.

(USB type C on the video cards on one end, to a display port really blew my mind when I saw that. Turns the old idea of USB ports aren't used for video on its head.. (always wondered why they would put a USB type C on a video card, then I saw all the adapters and my mind was blown. I imagine in the future video cards could have half a dozen usb type C ports on it and you just buy a cable for what you need, thats pretty cool stuff. Welcome to dongle world I guess.
