Hazed Honda Headlight Restoration

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A short demo video showcasing the recent restoration of a 15 year old Honda HRV's hazed & faded headlights. While the results were by no means perfect (as wet sanding should ideally have been employed prior to polishing) the finished results still show the vast improvement that can be achieved by polishing alone.

    Recently used a 3M Headlight restoration kit to do this on my Accord, pads of varying grit levels and then a buffing tool. The improvement was incredible.

    When I did mine I used rubbing compound to remove the oxidation, then T-cut to remove the scratches from the rubbing compound, then finally I applied wax polish to seal it. As I wax my car about every 4-6 weeks its easy enough just to reapply over the headlights.

    New subscriber, really loving the videos but a video side by side at the end would be really appreciated, not just on this but a before and after of all jobs you do. I'm obviously working from oldest to newest so maybe you do that now but just thought I'd offer my 2p. I'm from Wrexham, you don't sound too far away with your accent!

    Alex Davies UV light damages plastic over time. Ideally wet sand it off with 1000 grit sandpaper then clear coat for the longest lasting results. Polishing won’t last as long and isn’t as easy either if you don’t have power tools

    It doesn't remove the pitting wet sanding would or create the crystal clear refined finished a plastic polish could, however as you can see from the before & afters, for a quick fix it provides a vast improvement.

    How is the jet seal sealant holding up after 5 months?

  • @CarCleaningGuru

    @CarCleaningGuru

    9 жыл бұрын

    Could do with another application to be honest. I'd put this down to the fact the deeper pitting was still present after polishing (as I didn't wet sand) which has allowed the sealant to break down more quickly. Still, if it'd had a monthly reapplication they would still be looking great!

    lástima que al hacer eso elimina la capa de protección a los rayos uva y en unos meses estarán bastante peor que antes de pulirlos. Lo definitivos es una lija de 1200 y después dos manos de laca de carrocería y para siempre

    JUNAID187 yeah I've done car painting and mechanics and detailing and been trying to get into engineering them but yeah hondas paint is not near the quality of some others however,neither is their carpet or trim or hardly anything else about them simply because they are built to be an affordable and reliable car but I'm not too sure about that "affordable" or reliable part since 2007
