4:44 Wow, a very effective tool. I didn't know such a tool even existed. thanks! The upholstery you removed is plain upholstery, in the sense that it is made from a single sheet of vanilla. If you go to a professional upholsterer, or, if you stitch a DIY designed cover from several parts that will follow exactly the required shape of the foam... and the stiches itself has all kinds of patents for decoration... it came out of Suzuki's workshop. But you already know that.

The foam sculpting is first, want a low but firm seat pad and the cover will be a bigger challenge! Never done stitched covers before, but how hard can it be lol

@@Moonfleet41 From five parts, it is very difficult. And if the fabric is thick, then it's even harder. Difficult even for professionals. But it's worth it.

Nicely done, Del! Extraordinary use of the staples. I did something similar last week on the MIL. I plastic soldered her food bucket to her neck. Works a treat although her voice is a bit muffled. Hope you both are doing well! 🏍️👍🏍️

Hiya Penny and Del - great video! You showed your usual persistence in getting that seat pan fitting just right. I have a hot stapler too and have found it very useful! Sometimes it can be hard to hold steady while the plastic cools, so I use compressed air to speed things up... it's a real help! I am also impressed with that epoxy applicator - those mixing pens can be a pain to manipulate. Very nice job getting that epoxy applied and smoothed out - I look forward to seeing the seat develop! On a personal note, my own fleet of motorcycles doubles in size today - The 1999 Suzuki Bandit 1200S will be joined by another legend of reliability - a 1992 BMW K75S. Wow, they are an upgrade from using paperclips Del. Didn't know there was such a tool. I know you did a plastic welding video years ago. But this is definitely so much better because it's a specialist tool. Obviously, there's no getting away from the toxic cyanide fumes, though, and carful with the remains of those staples as they have a habit of finding tyres. And not only do you both produce the content, etc. But find time to read and comment on all our comments, Del and Penny x

Thanks Marc, 10/4 on the fumes, we had the extractor fan on and the door open too provide flow through of air and it is minimal as that tool is very efficient. Always appreciate your kind and wonderful support, have a safe week, D&Px

Great stuff as usual 👍 For me that seat needs minimal foam to keep it low ,just for better lines on the bike ,and I would cover it in black alcantara But that's just my opinion I think this bike is going to look the mutts nuts 👍

A couple of interesting tools I have never seen before. Staples and glue guns. Sure making your job easier!! I've always done it by hand. Now can't wait to see how you fix the seat. Great job video.

That was a clever way to make the pan originally. But your attachment method is light years stronger. And I gotta say it... the original job just wasn't done with the two colors showing. In my opinion, you should do your very best with a job and not bothering to color match the plastics with a simple coat of paint just automatically shows a willingness to cut corners. Does it show, some might ask? Yes. Yes it does... every time the seat is removed... Why do "good enough" when you can do your best?? I will never understand that. If it was a big expense, then I get it. But a coat of paint?? Come on, man! Even a Dooms Day bike deserves all the attention to detail you can give it. Happy to see that seat base went to a better home :)

Brilliant! Now the initial idea has been allowed to come into it's own with great execution of materials and workmanship. I have had a few great ideas over the years which I just wasn't able to really get over that final assembly hump, that have always haunted me. My OCD is seeing those two "ears" on the front tops of the seat base that poke up and cross the angled line of the tank, and wanted to reach through the screen to lightly trim, lol.

Hey Renzo, thanks for you all your kind messages, we appreciate your support! Yes, with the glue, it's a product, the two tubes come moulded in to one piece and exit through one nozzle and the little mixing tube tips make life real clean! The only problem is, you have to be quick as the glue goes off in the tube once it's mixed and you only have about 5mins from the moment you squeeze the trigger!! Man, that's such a more efficient way of plastic welding then the old way I saw you do it WAY back in the day... with a soldering iron and paper clips. Same effect, just faster and easier.

Yes, I'm not too proficient at the old plastic repairs. But as with everything it comes down to equipment and experience. I've had shed loads of goes , with the wrong equipment! 😅✌️❤️

I used to do all mine with cable ties and a soldering iron and copper staples from the cardboard boxes, and it still worked ok as long as you do it right! Am not sure it's about the equipment, maybe just the technique lol
