Curiously enough it was my Dad who taught me to sew, as my Mom guarded her Victorian era Singer sewing machine that was made out of wrought iron, blocks from Cheops pyramid, scrapings from the Philosopher's Stone, and locked in it's own Ark, like some kind of suspicious Dragon lol. And her sewing scissors! God help you if you even looked in the general direction of the room she kept the precious instruments, hahaha. So out in the shed with Da it was, patiently stabbing ourselves with great pointy awls through great thick leathern projects. Good times.

Nice work on your project! Growing up, my parents would reupholster the living room furniture as opposed to buying new furniture. They always used the old upholstery as a pattern for the new and it always came out great. Years ago, I reupholstered the seats in my 1959 Willys Overland pick-up by using what was left of the original upholstery as a pattern. It was much easier than I anticipated, and the result was exceptional! If I could add one small tip, use a smooth-faced plenishing hammer or mallet to gently hammer the stitch seams and you'll get a better fit and smoother look on the seams.

Brother, that a damn fine job! I don't even know how to thread a sewing machine, more-or-less how to use one. But that's the fun of learning something new. You gotta be prepared to fail before you can accomplish anything. Nicely done!

Add "Tailor" to your bag of tricks, Delboy! Pretty soon, you'll be killing 7 giants at one blow!.. This winter, I borrowed my daughter's sewing machine and tried my hand at sewing in a liner for the game pouch in my ancient hunting coat, and it was ...Interesting :) In some places, the stitches are ...mmm straight?.... In other places... not so much... There is a double line of stitches on a cuff repair that look more like two serpents engaging in coitus, rather than two parallel lines, like I have on the "unmodified" other cuff... "It adds character"... That's what I tell myself :)... Enjoy your Easter weekend, D&P
