For the 3 light, leer: Hold the 2 outer buttons until they blink slowly. Press learn button on the garage door opener. Press and HOLD the button you want to use in the vehicle for 20 seconds or until the door moves, then IMMEDIATELY let go. Press that button again. I just did this after looking up the correct procedure after doing this method 67 damn times. Works on Genie Intellicode.

I followed your instructions and there was one difference but after I checked for the blinking light on the transmitter everything was set. Thank you for posting this as I don’t have a user manual for my vehicle and this saved me from having to reach out to the dealer. Thank again!!!!

Yours was the only programming method online that worked for me. Had to do it a few times (started to doubt you), then it began to work. I don't normally leave comments, but I appreciate your help!!

Thx Tom. I've had my 2018 for 2 years and never realized how to program it. I just did both doors in about 10 minutes. The time consuming part was removing the genie light cover to locate the learn button. Your video is SPOT on! Thanks again..I should come buy the next truck or Tahoe from you!

on my 2009 Silverado I had to press and release the outer 2 buttons, hit the learn button on the garage opener, then come back and press and HOLD the button i want to use. As soon as the garage door moves (can take up to 20 seconds) release it and then the chosen button light will blink fast. Once it stops blinking it should be ready to go.

Tom I so wanted this to work I have a 2013 Tahoe with the Leer system. I think my garage door head unit is too old it doesn't have a "learn button". Great video though.

I have the Lear system and I after put the garage door in learn mode I had to hold the desired button down until the door moved. It didn’t work by pressing it intermittently.

Some doors or openers require you to push a button on your motor inside the garage.

So weird. Every time I try to program the truck, it wipes out the handheld remote. I have tried the instructions in the owners manual as well as the instructions in the video (it varies slightly, but based on the description, I know our vehicle has Lear instructions. Regardless of the handheld remote, no luck getting the vehicle synched up. Edited to say: futher research suggests the vehicle's system may not be compatible with the Craftsman garage door opener we have installed? Not good.

+whonu5 Sorry it's not working for you. I find that some systems just won't synch up. The troubleshooting I would do is find a friend that will allow you to try on his/her garage to see if it's your vehicle or your opener.

It's odd for sure, we found that somehow the truck seems to delete all programming for the garage door - the hand held opener, the previously synched up car and the wall mounted key pad opener on the side of the garage all have to be reprogrammed after trying to synch the truck up.

Have an 11 avalanche and a linear LD050. Can't get it to work. Also the instructions in the manual say to hold the button down till the door moves. The video says to keep pressing it untill it moves which sounds like you are pushing and letting go over and over until it move. Which is the correct way

I think either way works. Should just work right away. As noted below, I am getting lots of calls from people with vehicles your age that get a new door opener and it no longer works. Don't know if that is your case or not. Sorry I cannot be more help.

Just a note to let you know. I have been getting lots of calls recently from users who have installed new garage door openers and their vehicle will not program to the new opener. The people calling me are those who have 2008/9 to 2014/15 vehicles that use the Lear brand (3 lights, one over each button). GM is now exclusively using Homelink brand (one light inside a house image) on all models. I am assuming that many of these older vehicles with Lear openers no longer program to the newer model door openers. Please be aware that this may be an issue if you have one of those older vehicles. Sorry about that.

I have a 2012 Chevy Avalanche with a light in front of each button. I cannot get my new 8355W LiftMaster garage door to connect to my vehicle. I've seen repeaters for sale that supposedly allow Lear car2u units to work with new garage doors. Are you familiar with these repeaters/adapters?

After watching your video and then reading about the Car 2 U compatibility issue (Lear) I did some more research. If you have a newer Chamberlain/Liftmaster/Craftsman with 2.0 security, you do indeed need a repeater to make it work. It can be found on Amazon under the search term car2urptr for about $40 if you need one @JAKE KYSER. It is actually made by Chamberlain and is literally plug and play. Plug it in and then follow Tom's instructions. Now my '11 Avy opens my new Liftmaster garage door.

I've got a 2010 Camaro and the opener seems to be losing distance - is there a battery for the in car unit or is it likely the garage door opener itself?

+Casey Austin Not really sure. My 15 Silverado doesn't work well at home, but does at work.It's as if my garage door stops the signal. I struggle when opening the door, but once the door is open, it works perfectly. I have no windows in my garage door at home, but do in the overhead door at work. Have you changed anything on your home opener or a new garage door?

I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado I've had no problem with previous garage door openers an older genie brand and Craftsman brand. But I just put in a brand new Chamberlain and cannot get it to sync up with my onboard remote control on the truck I have tried every method and it will not sink with either the remote or by just using the learn button can you please help thank you I don't know how I will find your reply but hopefully you will be able to let me know

+Suzanne James Thanks for your question. Your vehicle should be the Lear model opener...do you have three lights, one above each button as in this video? Then these instructions should work. In the post just below, +SlyGuy attached some instructions as he believes mine are slightly wrong. Check out both. Otherwise, check with your local Chevy dealer...I am sure they would be glad to help. Good luck. Tom

mr. Hawkins: what should I do if my chamberlain garage door opener has no learn button. Model 3112E- FS2. There is a method using the wall button unit, but nothing happens. Mine is a 2008 chevy tahoe with the three LED indicator system. Wish you could help me. Please.

Sorry for the late reply. If you don't have a learn button, then your door opener must have been manufactured before 1996. If that's the case, the owner's manual has a programming method for using the dip switch inside the hand-held transmitter. Hope this helps.

Send an email to hawkinschevrolet@gmail.com and I will reply with the owners manual instructions from GM. If that doesn't work, then go to your nearest dealer to make sure that the system itself is not in need of repair. Good luck.

I don't have any problems programming my first button but trying to do both garages is impossible. We have two remotes and my 2011 Avalanche, once we do one, it wipes out everything, including the truck we just programmed along with the wall unit. :( We spent a half day trying it different ways with not luck, it

If you have three round lights...one above each button, you have the Lear brand. If you have one light inside a symbol shaped like a house, you have the Homelink brand transmitter in your vehicle.

@@HawkinsChevrolet It worked with my old opener, Craftsman, 6 years old,,,new opener was a craftsman made by chamberlain,,They say all remotes are compatible ,,, but no,,they lied,,,I found a yellow paper in box that says you need to buy their repeater to convert the signal, $30 cost...a simple $3.00 circuit board that could have been inside main unit...sick,,,,,Maybe a class action suit would wake them up....

GM 07' Tahoe with Lear Car2u system is not compatible with newer Craftsman door openers (i.e., Model 41A7633). Confirmed with learcar2u.com website model search. At least the Craftsman remotes work :)
