HAVELOCK WOOL VAN INSULATION | DIY Sprinter Van Build Series Ep. 2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

When we were deciding on insulation, we looked at Havelock wool and spray form insulation most seriously. They both have an R-Value of 7 and the ability to more completely cover every inch of the van. We ultimately decided on wool and are sharing the reasons here. In addition, you will also find answers to the top 5 questions everyone has about installing sheep wool into a #vanconversion | Vlog 21 | Filmed November 19, 2020
1. It’s healthy. We wanted something hypoallergenic with zero off gassing but Havelock wool goes beyond that. It also filters the air through passive air filtration. So in addition to being non toxic, it also protects you from other pollutants.
2. Sheep's wool is a sustainable and renewable resource. Additionally the Havelock manufacturing process uses very little energy and produces zero waste. Knowing that we are making building choices that don't have a negative impact on the world is important to us.
3. Natural high performance #vaninsulation It's a top performer in terms of R Value (warmth), moisture control (keeps mold and mildew at bay), and sound absorption (truly cuts down outside noise so much).
4. Easy installation. The batts are easily cut to size with scissors or pulled apart to fit into small crevices. Compared to spray foam insulation that requires professional installation, this was so doable for us.

Also, wool is naturally flame resistant and reduces fire risk. Another good feature😀

Thanks for not having the stupid intro music and silly stuff that so many people do on You Tube. Just give us solid info as you did. Refreshing. I'll be using Havelock wool on my build when we start in October.

You are turning out to be a very important resource because I haven't been able to register the name of a good wool insulation company, Thank you for making the reasons for using lambs wool absolutely clear, and Havelockwool"s company name! How does lambs wool compare in price to other types on insulation. I had considered spray on insulation just to make sure the ribs and nooks and crannies would get filled to the brim. What do you-all think of spray on insulation? Because I am in Colorado and plan on doing plenty of winter camping insulation is a big factor!

This blog post helped us make our decision to go with wool instead of spray foam faroutride.com/insulation/. The Havelock website also has great info. Ultimately we wanted to pick the healthiest choice and although it’s slightly more expensive are very happy with Sheep’s wool.
