    Hugo Hernandez most these guys trim their motors up 25% or so and keep the boat just off-plane. This keeps the bow in the air and stops you from submarining. It’s not fuel efficient by any means but it’ll keep your bow out of the waves.

    20 years ago I fished a 16.7 foot Whaler Montauk up to 15 miles into the Gulf of Mexico. I had encountered stand up sea at inlets like this & navigated safely through them, but you need to be trained how to do so. I proved several times that a Whaler will not sink when filled with gulf water like when the boat takes a wave over the bow. I always had my PFD on & i was tethered to the boat by a life line just in case.

    “Loca” esta muy loco! Kids crying, moms screaming, crews hanging on for dear life, skipper just ignores it all. What bothers me most is the fact many of these small boat Skippers turning a 180 inside the inlet without clearing the turn, move your head before initiating the turn. Better yet, exit the inlet before going back. You’ve committed to going out in the ocean, so do it, or stay inside!

  • @michaelguard9647

    @michaelguard9647

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Juji-Gatame I was commenting on skippers not clearing the way before turning, you can’t just turn when you feel like it. Better to make sure there are no other boats coming up from behind, they come fast. A good skipper knows the limit of his weighted vessel and should make the “go-no go” decision before entering the inlet. Be safe.

    The Boston Whaler was going slow and was tossed around, then they added power and seemed to handle it better. With a closed bow he should shed off most of the over the bow water. Unlike the first boat that acted like a water scoop. Same for the closed bow @ 6:50. Good video grandma and I will sit this one out.

    Mystery Boat 2 did a nice job of keeping his bow up and powering through. The rest of these "captains" either slowed down or kept the same speed when they started to porpoise. GET YOUR DAMN BOW UP!!
