Hatchimals Disappoint Many Families Who Say Hyped-Up Toys Didn't Hatch

Hatchimals were the biggest toy craze of 2016, but for some kids lucky enough to find one under the Christmas tree, there was only heartbreak. "My Hatchimal won't wake up," said one little girl who resorted to performing surgery with a tablespoon to break her Hatchimal's shell. In another video posted online, a little boy can be heard saying: "We have tried to open it for five hours." One father had to improvise to open his child's Hatchimal, shaking it until it finally began to hatch. #InsideEdition

Me and my little brother got a hatchimal each on one Christmas. My little brother was 9 at the time, and really wanted a hatchimal since he loved animals and watched animal channels all the time. (Coyote Peterson was his fav). When we opened them mine hatched within an hour. But my little brother's was taking way longer. After 2 hours or so I told him it's probably broken. But he kept waiting. After 30 minutes it started hatching, after it finished hatching we realized one of it's wings were broken. So my mom asked if he wanted to get a new one. And my brother replied "No, it may be broken, but it's still mine." *This is an example of children raised right*

The hatchimal eggs just might not all open by just rubbing on them only

Back in 2016 when I was nine years old, I got a green/blue Draggle egg and I’ve been taking care of him by nurturing and loving him, I thought I’d get a green one but it turns out I got blue! He needed my help because when he was ready to hatch, he tried to peck but the motor gets jammed and stuck but I twisted him around and I have to peel the egg a little bit and these tricks worked, he was pecking and if I didn’t help him hatch, he would take at least 3 or 8 hours to hatch, but it took me at least 30+ minutes and I was patient. my face was the first thing he had ever seen, I helped him hatch and he came out successfully! I got the blue one and I named him Zane. Now he is completely grown. I’m 15 and Zane is 6!

A friend of mine got a Hatchimal for Christmas. Don't be impatient, you have to wait and be patient for the Hatchimal to hatch; sometimes it will take 30 minutes, other times it will take over 24 hours. The point of the Hatchimal is to be patient and care for the egg for as long as it takes, don't resort to breaking it by force if it has not started to hatch in under a day. I'm just surprised Inside Edition made a video about this, yes it was the "it" toy back then, but seriously these families need to be patient. American culture is always "instant this, instant that.", which is in contrast to the Hatchimal concept. There is a chance that the Hatchimal is defective, but more often than not patience is the key.

*Story time:* when I was 8, me and my 14 y/o cousin got one of these egg things and both didn’t open, We literally waited 2 months for it to open, 2 months later (I was 9 and my cousin was still 14) we found our eggs again wondering why it still didn’t open so we decided to take matters into our own hands, me and my cousin being the absolute chad We were when we were children, we grab the AK47 beside my parents bed (I live in the bush so Ofc we needed a gun beside our bed), so We then lines the eggs up with a tree and shot the eggs and then smashed it with a hammer to open them, we finally opened our eggs and both the robots had gunshots through the animal. When my parent found out, they took away our shooting privileges for 2 months. Don’t ask why my parents taught me and my cousin to use a gun at the age of 9 and 14, were Australians.

Why do I feel like this could have gone another direction and be a teaching moment for the parents and kids? Don't get me wrong file your complaints but this could have been a great thing to have the kids understand patience or other virtues. Just me? Okay.

Its a toy that they said would hatch in a couple of minutes not five hours, these kids have every right to be frustrated...

Mädämë Blëü yeah but technically you can also tap gently on them wait for it to tap back while rubbing on it the tapping on it probably helps it to get it open faster most of the eggs probably just don’t open up the same ways if you just rub on it and wait.

  • @Megz1794

Mädämë Blëü it doesn’t say it will hatch in minutes it says the toy takes minutes to respond back to your interactions which is usually anywhere from 25-40 minutes it’s a toy that’s designed for patience plus it says the hatchimal hatching speed depends on how much you touch, interact, tap and rub on it which is why you have to keep interacting with it constantly repeatedly and you cant really stop other wise it could put the toy to sleep
