Technically the GB population didn't get to vote on this new leader, she just gets to be boss till the next real election on the basis of an internal popularity contest that for a large part only had 300(ish) eligible voters, and once it gets to the final is still a really really tiny subset of the GB population allowed to cast judgements on which one of the final two they would prefer...

I'm not sure when the world made the collective decision that our political leaders should be entertaining "characters", and that stars of stage, screen and music should stand for causes and be politically active, but I sure as hell wish they'd switch the eff back!

Everyone’s fucked because governments are refusing the cap and lower energy costs, if companies are making record profits then they raised prices far more than they’ve needed to and we just have to accept it because it’s something we can’t live without, they’re posting record profits proving they’re dong this and absolutely no one is dong anything to help, sadly people will die this winter due to this greed crisis The mental thing is there are still batshit crazy cunts out here who would still rather rely on oil and gas something that the price of will fluctuate massively for many many reasons like war and supply (eventually) etc. as opposed to wind solar and tidal energy that is absolutely free, that should lower peoples bills considerably and that for no other reason than maintenance and building costs going up should keep the price of energy relatively stable.

@@billytheripper4 It's better than what we currently have. My vision of the future is fully green energy and highspeed rail all over the country, alongside nationalised water and nationalised energy. Tories want highspeed rail, Labour want fully green energy, but the key bit for me is Tories want fracking, and Labour can acknowledge that saving the world is now cheaper than destroying it.

As a Brit, I'd say a combination of many things but mostly hubris, apathy, ignorance, jingoism, colonialism, and xenophobia. Entirely deserved, it's not like the information wasn't available to us at the time but ppl chose to ignore it time and time again, then they choose to blame each other rather than concede they may have made a mistake voting the way they did. Doubling down isn't a show of strength. One MP thought £800 was an acceptable cost of an "average" pair of work shoes 🧐
