I went to the Rays/Yankees game on Sunday 5/7/23 that the Ray's won, they beat Cole. Bader hit a 2 run Homer and lined a shot to right center that he stretched into a triple. I was blown away by how fast he was out of the box. Yankees have a very exciting player.

StL needed pitching, but GM Mozeliak gave up too much to get it. Bader made everybody else better on defense, he got to everything hit in the gaps, and was often a spark plug with the bat. His batting average really didn't matter, he got his hits in the right places, and when he got on base he usually scored runs, too. After he left, other than Pujols, everyone struggled to drive in runs.

Verlander made his FIRST FORTUNE off a heater/curve combo...and THAT!..is why, to this day, he's still able to trick hitters into swinging at a top of the zone fastball, bcuz they thought it was going to be a curveball. Mat Latos was nothing close to being Verlander..but he just popped into my memory bank, because when the Padres first called him up from Double A, he was using the same heater/curve method that Verlander was using..and it worked like magic for a number of yrs.

Dude was a .246 hitter in STL. Not incredible, but he's got some pop and some speed. The defense at a premium position makes him a fantasic fit in NY. He's endeared himself to fans by showing up in the playoffs, too.

The Yankees made him cut his hair off when he got traded out of St. Louis. They don't allow longer hair, especially if it touches the jersey. I personally think it's kind of a silly rule, but it's been around for decades. I sure do miss the hair. But I think he looks good either way.
