Don't give up because of 1 or 2 bad comments. These eco warriers are everywhere and don't seem to live in the real world. I had to give up due to ill health and my bird dying at an early age. I miss it like mad, getting out just me, bird and ferrets. Keep doing it as long as you are enjoying it, and the bird and dogs are up to it.

I have the honour of hunting with a male HH. We have shared each others company for 14 years and we have hunted over ferrets and dogs and sometimes just me kicking cover. I love you videos so thank you for sharing.

I get stopped quite often by dog walkers etc while out that are just uneducated on falconry, which is why channels like yours are so important to spread the truth about what we do. 8 times out of 10 after having a chat people have genuinely learned something and falconry is better off for it, there will always be the 2 out of 10 that are just ignorant its impossible to win an argument against an idiot. If anything i think you should post more 😅 👍

Sea Eagle spotted in North Wales just the other day. Never mind what negative people say keep doing what you'er doing. While a hunter takes out the weakest the stronger live to breed stronger and so the species survives. (only my opinion mind).

People don't realise you're not taking 20-30 rabbits at a time !!! What we do is for the birds !!! We don't go taking 5 or 6 dogs out at a time !!! I've seen you put 2 back already this season!!! All the best, Pete. Keep the videos up !!!! All the best, Dan

Thanks Dan, I put the last back as that area was struggling in the past, I was surprised that the hawk caught it to be honest, a good sign that myxomatosis wasn’t present. I don’t think all anti are against taking rabbit, more about sheltering creatures in the undergrowth, I gues small birds, mice disturbed , anyway I’m sure they would disturb them if in their homes. Personally I still prefer tail, I will modify tail clip next season to reduce risk of pulling out deck feathers, I have some ideas. I’m only using leg due to tail deck lose caused by telemetry transmitter design I’m sure there is a better solution and still use tail. Tail is nice a tidy i don’t like the swinging transmitter on the ankle. Thank great question and thanks for commenting and watching.👍

@@freebirdofreason1994 I have never used leg mount I think it’s clutter around the leg some may disagree but maybe have to on some occasions, I have always gone for tail mount as it’s nicely tucked away, I have been fortunate that my birds have never lost any centre deck feathers whilst the birds have been flown flying season . Another great video Pete, I share the same opinion as you, there’s a lot worse going on out there, the most unsporting development I’ve seen these days are the thermal rifle scopes people are shooting with these days now, the animal has no chance. I use a thermal camera at night whilst lamping with my bird, but only at night and only so as I don’t ruin the next field, but sitting at shooting prey in complete darkness, I feel, is unfair, they have no chance. On a more lighter note, where do I get the game bag you use for dispatches quarry ? Is it a posh freezer bag !!? Great watch again mate 👍🏻

Thank you always interesting reading comments, there are a few reasons to use modern equipment we need to be as you say a bit thoughtful of how and why we use them. That bag was a gift from a friend, it is great. He bought it from the war and peace show, it was an army waterproof bag, just a few quid, I’m not sure if you could find one on line in military gear old issue. If I ever see one online I’ll let you know.

Dont give up! We do these things for the birds, so they can live a fulfilling life. Aint nothing in falconry is worth giving up. Keep going. You treat the animals wonderfully, and Woody seems to love your hunts. Keep on treking! We have been doing this sport for thousands of years, so keep inspiring others with it. @@freebirdofreason1994 I’ve had peregrine tiercels pull out feathers during the moult my current Tiercel did it maybe they weren’t growing right I noticed he had a tail feather that was growing with a curl in it he pulled that out and it grew back. I’ve not lost a feather not outside the moult but fingers crossed your hawks tail feather grows back keep at it not many people doing a Harris hawk justice and flying him like you are especially their first hawk. Ignore the negativity some people enjoy watching people fail because they can’t dedicate the time or put in the hardwork of flying a hawk themselves 🙏🏼

Falconry is one of the oldest sports. The rabbit and squirrel population is doing just fine. If anything, cars take more out than birds do. There is more good to Falconry than most people realize.

Glad you enjoyed it. Yes to fly a hawk you need land owners permission. Usually easy to get permission on farm areas some don’t allow it.

Hi Pete, sorry you had a troll ugh. I could see if you were taking 20 rabbits and birds on a hunt, obviously you never do that. Block them and move on. I’m glad you tried to educate them. Nice you got to see your friend, I don’t know what the BOP is he rescued. I’m only good at identifying song birds. Really enjoyed this video, Beau was amazing with his pointing. I've had to deal with pets before in person at the hawking fields in southern California it didn't work out well for them
