Harley Davidson Maintenance - Lesson 1 'The Service'
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this SPECIAL the Flogs once again head down to Geelong Harley Davidson to meet up with everyone's favourite 'Mechanic' Col to see what is actually involved in a 'Regular Maintenance Service.'
Whitey puts his 2012 Harley Fatboy up on the lift and has to explain why it hasn't seen the inside of a service department for way too long.
In his inimitable way Col walks us all the way through a full service. He describes what a professional looks for and we discuss why it is a smart move for most people to pay a professional, at least occasionally, to service their motorcycle.
(Yes, we know YOU are a Master Mechanic, but not everyone is, so don't bother criticizing anyone who does utilise their dealer thanks!)
Although this is performed on a Harley Davidson Fatboy the procedure is similar on all bikes, no matter what brand.
And to add to the value of this video, if you live within riding distance of Geelong Highway there is a massive deal for your next service at the end of the video.
So, once again settle in and enjoy this Special edition of 'Australia's Biker Show, Hogs, Cogs and Two Aussie Flogs.

Forgetting to put the stand down ain’t as bad as trying to look cool and coming to a stop at a red light and forgetting to put your feet down and tipping over 😂😂all for trying to look cool 😂😂that was an old Bro of mine, lil bit of beer in him, was a classic fuckup ! P.I.P to the Brother trying to look cool. I’ve had a bolt snap on the stand while kicking it over but saved it well fucked my foot up a bit but was only worried if I had put a ding or two and any scratches but yeah Bro, I know that feeling oh so well ✌️😎👍… Subbing in from New Zealand 🇳🇿

Thanks, that was what we were trying to convey. Col makes it look easy but there’s definitely a lot more to a service than many understand. Thanks for watching.
Even as a non Harley rider I enjoyed this. Only problem is that Col makes it look so to do. If only I had his skills. Also learnt to just pull my clutch in when at lights or junction. Great video lads. Summer here in the UK but its disappearing too quickly for me.

Hey thanks for watching. I guess about 50 plus years working on bikes will do that to you. Col is definitely very skilled and great at explaining the ins and outs of what he does. We will definitely be doing more ‘Lessons’ in this series.
i live in the states in PA.. i do my service every 4 K miles i never go 5K without changing my oil and i use Amsoil
@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs
Ай бұрын
Hey Ryan thanks for watching. We all agree that changing oil regularly is the best insurance you can buy. Amsoil isn’t a brand we see a lot of down here, but I figure if you change it often enough the brand doesn’t matter quite as much.
@jimmybe64
29 күн бұрын
@@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs I always used Amsoil in my twin cam but switched to Red Line in M8.I buy oil from eBay as I live in country QLD. I use a specialist oil company as HD would tender for the lowest to fill it.

@@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs One thing is I am now an Australian-made oil supporter. Penrite 20w50 Full Synthetic Racing oil with Red Line V-Twin Primary and Gear oil.
I always adjust my clutch at a service and if you don't know how you shouldn't be changing the oil either. I use synthetic gearbox and primary oil, not 20w50 motor oil.
@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs
29 күн бұрын
I’ll be honest Jimmy, I’ve always changed my own oil and never adjusted the clutch, which now seems ridiculous because it isn’t that hard and you already have the Derby cover off so access isn’t an issue. Because it appears so easy to incorporate it will now be part of every oil change. Hey, thanks for watching, we appreciate it.

Yes, HD would tender for the oil needed and buy from the lowest, not the best. I always used Aimsil but switched to Red Line V-Twin Primary & Gear Oil off eBay. Since I am Australian I now use Penrite 20w50 Racing oil in the engine. I try to support Australian-made. HD is now supplying synthetic gearbox oil finally.

And how much is it for a service
@hogscogsandtwoaussieflogs
8 күн бұрын
How long is a piece of string. Again it depends on what bike, which service (kms) you are doing and if you need extra like air filter replacement etc. There are some variables. BUT they do have $100 off for viewers of HC&2AFs if you book in anytime this month. Give them a call for a quote.
