Great video. I had a 42"45" when I was 14, back in 1955. Your starting out and killing the engine reminds me of the trick I had to use as the front brake cable was broken. The trick was having to stop at a stop light on a hill. But hey, I was 14, you can do anything when you are 14. LOL. The sequence started when I came to a stop. Shift to low, rock the clutch, put left foot down and hold rear brake with right foot. When the light changed, remove right foot from brake and put down while lifting my left foot to rock the clutch with just the right amount of throttle to keep from killing it. I became an expert at it. Anyway, it brought back a lot of memories. At 83 I still ride my 99 Softail Custom. But have fond memories of the old 42.

I wish I could get one of those old vintage bikes, looking at that headlight ,shifter front end etc while riding makes it all worth it.

I love the bike and thanks for letting me ride along!i had a lot of bikes Through The Years triumphs. I miss my 500 tiger 1969 scrambler broke my back on a 72 bull Taco El Bandido. and now I'm 67 years Young and I had that spinal cord injury since 1995 the Lord help me walk through hard work and prayer! I went back to climbing and painting barns on 40 foot ladders for a living. I live in southern Missouri Ozarks where are you at? I'd come over and go camping just to see your bikes!! I sure wish I could find an old Flathead Harley Basket Case or something that I could afford to get if anybody's got one out there I sure appreciate it!! I started out working on Old Flathead Fords my first truck was a 1940 Ford half-ton pickup truck and I drove it home for $75 bought it from a 88 year-old polish farmer. I still have his driver's license he was born in 1887. If Anybody got a old,45 basket case or a rolling chassis harly out there? I would know how to wire it and I would know how to re ring it pretty much a basic old-time mechanic .if anybody's got something out there please notify me here I'm not wealthy but if you got an old rig that I could bring back to life I appreciate it cuz I got to get my hands on one before I'm Pushing Daisies it's September 2023 I live in southern Missouri Ozarks around alley Springs eminence West Plains Missouri thanks a lot this is Mark:-)

I know several guys that fiddle with old junk iron I will reach out to them and see if they know were anything is at. What year models are you interested in.

@@DeathProofProductions be safe on your journey and thanks for reaching out. you know I lived in Arkansas and had a place there I built in the back Hills and hollers up Brushy Creek on Lake Norfork outside of Calico Rock! I was a river rat on the White River and ran the Buffalo. I built everything myself it was off-grid old-timey:-) I've got cousins down around Morrilton Arkansas, my Uncle and ant long passed away already!, but I've got a cousin down there and me and my wife were there years ago about 20 years ago and stayed at their Ranch for a few days. Was chuck wagon rases in the area I seen!. and of course I ran around with my wife and kids years ago like gypsies we went down to the wachita River, hot springs and the crystal mines around Mount Ida camping. and I've been to the Flint mines outside of Hot Springs because I used to do arrow-head knapping Flint knapping:-) I appreciate that very much my friend really hoping I can afford something from the 1930s to the 1950s something hopefully that I can just bring back to life and actually ride it without going on a big Parts search cuz it's too expensive or too difficult to try to build a bike from scratch with all the missing parts nowadays :-) I want to be practical:-) there was a beautiful like 1942 Harley-Davidson Flathead that look like brand-spanking-new in West Plains on Marketplace amazingly beautiful and restored just a couple months ago but the price was extremely expensive I don't know if it's still on Marketplace in case you're looking for something it was in West Plains on Marketplace, I had it on my phone but I couldn't retrieve it when I tried yesterday

I met him while he was still alive visiting his doughter my cousin, and my anty already had already passed on they had a metal Barn in a big pond or lake in the yard with fish and a rowboat cuz I went out fishing :-) had horses!. my aunt's maiden name was Everson she was my Outlaw father's sister!. one of them. my dad took me down there to their place in the late 1950s. I am forgetting everything and their daughter my cousin I think her name is wynona? and she's got kids which would be my second cousins down there got their Ranch was on the left side of the two Lane County Highway heading south of Morrilton. It's been about 20 years. it was exciting to meet my cousin in my uncle but my auntie had already passed:-( unfortunately I have no one to ask anymore. i have a '49 same colour but don't know if it's year correct. what you say about riding different / older machines is spot on with challenges and considerations also gives you more of a chance to look over hedgerows and fences and see how crops are growing 8 D. one Q, why have the rear view mirror on your right?.

Great vidio You have a very nice 42 WLA I enjoyed the ride. THANKS. The last year of WlA was 1952. All WLAs had springer forks. The early ones and friction damppers and the later had a shock setup replacing the friction plates. The script emblems on the tank are from 1951-54 but they droped the under line in 1954. That being said that makes your tanks from a 1954 servicar. The front fender is a pre 1950 Wl (The good looking fender). The shift pattern with first being back makes it the later pattern that started in 1947. I have a very simular 51Wl with a 42Wla engine. Hope to run across you as I also live in the Missouri Ozarks. P.S. Does yours have reverse?
