One of the few movies that when you watch it you can see/feel how Cage and Travolta are having so much genuine fun playing their roles. p.s. When I think of it I just thought of another one, again with Travolta, Broken Arrow. Another masterpiece of an action flick.

1:31:45 prior to this point it was mentioned that the song "Over the Rainbow" was played. This scene takes place in a club with mirrors. Both (song: Over the Rainbow and the use of mirrors) are tools of Project Monarch mind control programming. Project Monarch falls under the umbrella of MK ULTRA. Project Monarch subjects are traumatized at an early age resulting in Dissociative Identity Disorder/Multiple Personalities. Perhaps FACE/OFF is an allusion to this type of programming. Maybe Sean Archer and Castor Troy are the same person. You would then be able to draw a parallel to FIGHT CLUB, where Ed Norton's alter is Brad Pitt. Incidentally, Norton rose to prominence with his role in PRIMAL FEAR, his character having an alter. Many actor and people in the public eye such as politicians, media figures, CEOs have been subjected to Project Monarch programming. Many of the films put out by Hollywierd are used for programming purposes.

Late to the game but listened to this chat after watching "Face Off" for the first time. It is indeed a fun crazy scary film. And yes, it may be considered a "popcorn blockbuster" but I thought it had some depth by reminding me of Gothic horror stories. The lab scene of Archer and Troy switching faces was reminiscent of "Frankenstein"; manipulating the human body as a cautionary morality tale of science gone wrong. Also watching the hero and villain walk inside each other's skins and gradually bleed into each other's characters also reminded me of the Jekyll/Hyde complex.

Just to nitpick: despite how EVERYONE on KZread uses the word, “electrocute” is a portmanteau word made from “electricity” and “execute.” If you’re electrocuted, you die. Nowadays, getting any kind of electric shock is called “electrocution.” Yes, it’s easier than saying “getting an electric shock,” but it’s wrong. More and more dictionaries adjust their definitions to reflect current usage of words, so I’m sure that (for example) the Merriam-Webster company in the USA will soon have “receive or administer an electric shock, not necessarily fatal” as the principal definition of “electrocute.” Changes in language can be really stupid, because people are ignorant or simply don’t give a damn.

when cage, now with their faces swapped, calls in a bomb report on HIMSELF to become the hero, you have no clue where this movie is going and it is great. its not the most logical movie but at least it takes an idea, and explores it pretty well. now we just get really predictive movies that try to "subvert expectations" in a meaningless way. face/off shows an actual subversion with cage defusing his own bomb, as it is rational AND is unexpected AND entirely changes the back half of the movie. in TLJ, snoke being murdered actually means nothing for the plot, the heros and villians still end up in the same spot, with the same tools, even if snoke didnt die. in face/off, when these subversions occur, they change and influence the rest of the movie. Round head Rian couldve really used a watch of face/off in this context when writing his SW movie.

I watched face off with my daughter and family, yesterday and I gotta say, I think Travolta really nailed the Nicolas Cage acting prowess. He didn't do it 100% but I think he did a great job trying to channel Cage. Since he technically was being him. Fantastic fucking film from both main actors.

Jesus I loved every second of this lol. Listening to both you guys almost makes work bearable. Almost. Movie was batshit over the top crazy and I'll watch it anytime someone mentions it. With Nic Cage you know what you're getting. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I'm going to hit up Drinker and Gary on Twitter. Drive Angry I feel is right up there with Face Off and over the top bullshit lol. Nic Cage having a sex scene in a hotel room fully dressed. William Fincher chasing him the whole movie and riding a semi truck haha. Seriously go watch Drive Angry if your a action and cage fan. It's VERY underrated

The prison scene where Nicholas Cage was in a fight in the cafeteria, his table mate who goes "Ooooooooo!" responding to an insult given toward another inmate is my Supporting actor in a scifi-flick called "TECHnically ALIVE", which ironically has the lead being one character playing another, but all in robots on a machine world in the vain Star Trek The Motion Picture explains where upgraded V'ger comes from. He never put his name in IMdb, but many didn't back then before it was a thing. He showed me the footage, though. He said John Woo took a shining to him and wanted to focus in on him doing that "Ooooo!"
