I have 2 grandkids 1/2 way across the country who I haven't seen in person since the beginning of this pandemic. Whenever we talk they say they miss me. I want to be in their lives again. And Angelina wanted so much to share her feelings for her grandpa with people who have had a similar experience and hoped they would get comfort from her song. And, so it was, for you. My goodness, watching you hold on with everything you have is making me cry! I've never connected with a reactor's reaction like this!! I was taken in by a family after my family fell apart. They let me sleep in their basement when I was a teen. "Dad" encouraged me to join the service. I eventually joined the Air Force. Later in my career as he was dying from ALS. When I finally got promoted to Chief Master Sergeant, I was able to visit him in a VA hospital and give him one of my Chief stripes. I told him that pull-out couch in the basement was the most comfortable bed I ever slept on because it was in a home filled with love. I believe I have my very own Marine Angel in heaven looking after me. His name is Richard Lissy :)

She lost her other grandfather a couple of years ago and she said that she wished he could hear her perform and she could hug him again for just one second. If you want to break your heart again, her song for her other grandfather is her version of Always on My Mind--her grief is more apparent there. Her version of Adele's When We Were Young is stellar. If you're up for it, you should listen to her take on Lana del Rey's Born to Die or Young and Beautiful, both are magnificent. Others are The Show Must Go On, I Know I'm Not the Only One, or Happier.
