Handling Part 1.1 (Optional) The Mini-z Kingpin Flip. By KK.

Комедия

This video is for new people trying to upgrade the performance of their cars. It takes you through the kingpin flip that so many people talk about.
I am not saying that you should do it but I will show you how. Not every car needs it but every car should have a suspension that works without binding. That is a fundamental of good performance on the track.
This video is completely work and kid safe however I tend to be redundant redundant. 😉
Watch with confidence.

Thanks, now the suspension is butter smooth! Before it sounded like a coffee grinder 🤣

There was so much friction before the flip and the suspension was horrible. After flipping the improvement was tremendous. Now the suspension is butter smooth. I also sanded down the knigpins a bit even though I have a non LM chassis. Great tip! I think this is a must-do, not optional.

Thanks for the video I learned a lot! There's another way to loosen the kingpin and ball: pop them in and out of the socket several times. This enlarges the plastic rather than shrinking the metal.

As always, you are a wealth of very clear information. Followed you since SCX24 videos, but just late to the game, jumped into my first Mini-z, wanting to race stock class. 👍

My original RC videos are about the MR-03. My early videos was just me messing around but it turned into actual useful information at some point. 🙂 I pretty much exhausted what could be said about them. I probably have a video about everything you might need to know. Thank you for being a long time viewer. : )

I'm gonna do this. Thanks for the explanation. I'm curious who makes those blue knuckles. Thanks! My king pin is tight like your example. I wasn't super impressed with the way my front suspension worked from the factory, lots of binding and unevenness. I think the flip may solve these problems. Thanks again,

Thanks for the info on those blue knuckles. I did the flip and things are much improved, but I can tell I still need to do some sanding or buffing with diamond paste. Your channel is an excellent resource. Thanks for your time!

Would this not cause roll over as over travelling suspension my car rolled as soon as I made this change

  • @EXPIOWA

It shouldn't. My cars are all dead stable. If your car is rolling try putting a thin layer of superglue on the side wall of your tire. - Not the tread at all. If it starts to tip it will momentarily loose traction and flatten back out onto the tread. It happens so quickly you won't notice it. Rolling is a normally a result of too much traction and a high CG, not over-traveling of the suspension. What you may be experiencing is the front tire touching the underside of the body or a headlight bucket as the suspension compresses in a turn. It this happens your car will experience an immediate loss of control as it will stop the tire. I normally Dremel away some material to give it clearance if that occurs. If it never compressed before properly but now it does, that could be why. The tolerances often are terrible and need adjusting, especially with the P1 and R8 bodies.

@@EXPIOWA my boy runs r8 I run the lexus and yes grip was an ish with it it's quite involved learning to set up a car for different tracks I'm also going to try and run the bigger carbon t peace on the rear and my boy the medium carbon his car with new tyres was spinning out on left turns and I found the t peace was softer one way than the other so I think maybe the body was hitting the floor and causing it to lose grip I think but as I said 😂 I'm not sure I race at ashfordrccc in Kent England we have also started doing hfay races if your aware of the you get a box of track that only makes so many tracks and people around the world take part and your times are all recorded I've just ordered awd 030 evo but I also need to order the merc suaber as its wider and works better with my eye site 😁

@@EXPIOWA Just started with Mini-Z and can confirm P1 problem at the front. But I did a quick solution and ordered +1 rims instead of the stock +1.5. Works without dremel. If the body gets damaged over time maybe I will grind it and try wider front rims.

I have discovered that the car flipping after a kingpin flip is normally due to the body coming in contact with a front wheel now that the suspension can flex. This is particularly true with the R8 and P1 bodies.

I was wondering, why do you have the duct tape on the bottom front of the chassis?

  • @EXPIOWA

    @EXPIOWA

    2 жыл бұрын

It is Teflon tape. It slides easily and won't slow the car if it bottoms out. I don't have it on all of my cars. I am not sure if I have it on any cars anymore.

@@EXPIOWA I was wondering if it was a friction thing. Thanks! I noticed you've got tape on the front and underside of some of your car bodies... was it the same type of tape and was the idea to keep the nose from catching on the side rails?
