A highly pleasing video for those who want to dig up words for specific movements or gestures. I learnt a lot today. For me, wiggle and lace are unknown.
@Englishwithjennifer
5 жыл бұрын
Glad something was new. There are links in the video to older lessons on gestures, like giving a thumbs-up, etc. WIGGLE - You can wiggle your fingers to say hi. You can wiggle your toes to keep them warm. A child can wiggle in his/her seat when there's a long wait. LACE - You can lace your fingers together and put your hands in your lap. You can also lace your fingers through someone else's and walk together hand in hand. :)

hi Jennifer I really enjoyed your lesson. Could you tell me what is the difference 'have to ' vs 'would have to'??
@Englishwithjennifer
5 жыл бұрын
HAVE TO is like MUST. It can express necessity or certainty when we're talking about the present or future. WOULD HAVE TO expresses the same thing, but the use of WOULD makes our statement hypothetical (unreal or unlikely).
Good analysis

Explain toward vs towards Can both be same? Can we use either? Explain with certain examples
@Englishwithjennifer
5 жыл бұрын
Same meaning. Same use. Use either. Some say "toward" is preferred in the U.S. and "towards" is preferred in the U.K. I don't think it makes much difference. If you go to YouGlish and filter for American English (US), then you'll see plenty examples of both variations. youglish.com/
i would appreciate if you explained what is the difference among these words grumpy , sulky , moody , and mardy .thanks
@Englishwithjennifer
5 жыл бұрын
Grumpy, sulky, moody - - are similar. Never heard of "mardy." Grumpy - - could be because you're tired or hungry. Usually unhappy about something. Sulky - - the same, but not as common as "grumpy. Moody - - Can be your general nature. A moody person has mood swings. Their moods change, often for the worse.

Hello teacher, I have a question. I'm confused a little bit. We have studied modals, and their use "the meaning they indicate" ( permission, possibility, ability, necessity ... ) Could you please identify the use of must in the following sentence: - What goes up must come down. it is necessity but is it obligation or conclusion, and why?
@Englishwithjennifer
5 жыл бұрын
MUST can express necessity or certainty. I think in the case of scientific facts, it depends on how you look at it, but overall, it's probably certainty. A ball thrown up doesn't make the decision to fall down and it doesn't feel the obligation to come down. There's simply no other possibility. We're certain that it will come down. We're certain of our prediction. Hope that helps! I'd like to do a series on modals at some point. :)

Hi, Jennifer. Thank you very much for your new lesson. I've gotten a strange problem with your member only videos for 3 or 4 months, maybe even longer. The problem is I can't access the member only videos on iPads. It seems the videos work for mobile phones only. And the same also happens to your live streams. It's uncomfortable for me to watch long videos with captions and comments on the small screen of my mobile phone. The problem does really bother me, but I don't know how to solve it till now. Do you know the reason and how to cope with it? Thank you.😀
@Englishwithjennifer
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sean. That's strange and unfortunate. I don't have any ads on member-only videos. I just checked the playback of the most recent live stream on my iPhone and my iPad, so it's working on those mobile devices. I'll repost the link on the Community Tab for you. I have an iPhone 8 plus, but I remember dealing with the smaller screen of the regular iPhone. Let's see if a reposted link gives you access to the live stream recordings. So sorry for the trouble.

JenniferESL Thank you, Jennifer. I’ve fixed the problem. Somehow my iPad’s.stopped updating apps automatically for several months, and I’ve never noticed it until today, so lots of apps including KZread aren’t the latest version. The problem is probably caused by it. Now, I’ve updated all the apps manually and finally all of your videos can work on both my iPad and iPhone again, cheer.😉😏 Sorry to bother you, I was thinking I probably need to change some KZread settings related to the membership.
