I've been feeding the same 2 wild foxes for a while now. I cook for them everyday.

The fox isn’t running away with the food because it distrusts you. It’s instinctive behavior for foxes to move their food away from others so they don’t get it stolen. Even pet foxes behave this way with their owners, and will gecker defensively if the owner comes near while they are eating.

It's something canines learn when they're young. Food will be stolen by litter mates if given the chance. The times you may not see this is if the animal has been raised and handled exclusively by humans. Domestic dogs will do this as well, particularly if they were allowed to grow up for a time with their litter mates past weaning.

Quite oppositely, most canids are generally friendly towards humans (and easily spoiled :D). And for example here in Slovakia, we are vaccinating wild animals using air deployed baits. If there is any rabid animal found (quite rare event), it is from Ukraine or Poland. Here in Bratislava it is impossible to meet rabid animal at all (400 km from UA border).
