The Danish National Symphony Orchestra has also done several performances of well known Film scores like Star Wars and Fistful of Dollars among other things. There is also Video Games Live which has performed music from dozens of games, though maybe more for the benefit of video game enthusiasts rather than the regular audience of traditional music. I think that the musicians who performed the music for Halo 3 and similarly scored games definitely qualified as serious orchestras.

Suddenly, it's 4 in the morning several years ago...and I've just survived the Warthog run for the first time.

When halo first came out, it was one of the most life-defining, emotional experiences of my entire life. I was 13 and my older brother who was my inseparable best friend throughout our entire childhood was 16, so we had already had so many incredible gaming experiences playing things together our entire childhoods. Our dad pre-ordered the new Microsoft video game console that was supposed to be the future. We drove to the nearest mall where the closest EB games was, filled out our preorder card, two controllers and 3 games: Tony Hawk 2x, Dead Or Alive 3, and a brand new IP we'd never heard of called Halo. When the preorder came in, it was on a school night mid week. We rushed straight out to pick it up after school, and came straight home from picking it up to finally check it out. We played DOA for maybe 3 minutes before immediately turning that garbage off, and played Tony Hawk for a few hours which ruled. After getting bored with Tony Hawk eventually in the evening, with our parents sitting on the couch watching, we both sat on the floor in front of the tv and turned halo on for the first time, with the lights off, everybody focused and ready to see what this new game was. I will never, ever forget hearing that intro music for the first time, seeing that opening screen, and looking around at everybody, realizing that we were all collectively thinking "something major is about to go down..." We ended up staying up all night playing it, pulled an all-nighter, and our parents let us stay home from school the next day to finish the game. When we beat it, I cried. It absolutely smoked all of us. That first time playing through the first halo game is an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life, and an experience I have been able to replicate very, very few times with other games.

More than any entertainment medium, games make the player FEEL something. Each playthrough is unique to each player and yet a collective experience.

This made me tear up. Back when I was in deep with depression and going through some hard family times, halo was something I always turned to. I have so many fond memories playing with friends. Staying up all night playing through the campaigns. Spending so many hours in slayer matches. The music was such a strong component of what made this series great. Hearing it performed so masterfully and with such passion brings me back to my youth. Reminding of all the wonders and otherworldly visuals I experienced when playing the game for the first time. It just brings tears to my eyes. Thank you.

I see a lot of people saying this brings back memories, and I wish I could say it brought back memories for me too, but I grew up in a shit era of gaming. I played Halo Master Chief Collection on Steam the first time ever about 2 months ago. you can still get the memories, doesnt matter how old you are. and since they are single player games (the campaign is) you don't even need friends :)

I literally cry like a baby everytime. Idk why I put myself through this. Like 5+ times a year I listen to this. Not only the in game memories as a kid but the outside memories aswell hit me hard . . . Such simple times gone like the wind.

That mjolnir mix with the electric guitar was from halo 2, not halo CE

You can feel the nostalgia flowing through your veins.

A unique piece for a unique game, Halo OST is more than an OST for a videogame it's a whole masterpiece in its own right. This was beyond fantastic

Dark Souls is similar. The theme of Soul of Cinder told a bigger story with just 3 notes than some games could with an hour long boss fight.

Man… to be in that concert hall…. I’m 20 years old again thinking about how this theme made me feel back then and still does today.

The conductor gives me chills to watch, her passion for this craft is piercing and we wouldn't have these beautiful works without somebody to organize musicians in orchestras.

I was listening to this and I found out that "halo the master chief collection" will be released on pc, i think wanna cry

It is because this entire arrangement was done by our national television and orchestra. A part of our taxes here in Denmark goes to things like this, which also makes the tickets quite cheap so everyone can enjoy classical concerts. I was at the concert, and I remember paying about 30 dollars for a ticket. The recording is done by the national television.

​@@TheSlayerPr0 No, Iconic Name was correct. Although the two songs are very similar, this is definitely Finish the Fight and not This is the Hour. After the section with the full orchestra finishes in TITH, you only hear string instruments for the rest of the song. Whereas in FTF that same orchestral section finishes and then you have that epic part with the horns again (the one that uses the piano’s melody). This can be heard at 1.59 during the FTF KZread video (listed below), and at 5:05 in the current video. Man I was just sitting here having a good night then when the violins came in at 2:37 I started crying actually tears of joy, so many good memories man.

20 years ago halo started my journey in life, and hearing this theme still gives me just as much goosebumps as it did back then.

man this is a great job they did. I am not gonna lie, I dropped a couple of tears at 4:10 simply because this entire song resumes my childhood.

4:11 goosebumps started... head shaking at the rhythm... hand's finger moving as if I had the control... great memories.

I remember going over to my neighbors house, back when I was probably around 10-12. This was where I was shown the way of the 117. Went out and, couple days later, got an Xbox just for Halo. The rest is just really awesome memories with Spartans of old. Just M.I.A

To hit ‘em with that Delta Halo is just….so….beautiful One of the all time great Halo levels too.

I was at that concert at vividly remember it being only the second time ever I've cried from live music. The combination of nostalgia overload and the absolute perfection from this talented group of people just hit the spot. Little did my young self know that I would probably never get to live a more beautiful and simple life like the days when Halo with the boys was all I cared about, but at least I got to do it to the sound of this masterpiece on a daily basis. While life now is not (and will never be) as simple as those days gone, hopefully there will be plenty of beautiful moments like watching this live in the future.
