It’s more a Jewish song than Christian, bearing in mind the influence from the Torah. Cohen was Jewish by birth to a Canadian/Lithuanian mother who was the daughter or granddaughter of a Rabbi and a Canadian/Polish Jewish father in Canada so i guess the lyrics show where he was at in his faith. A beautiful song all the same.

I had 2 holes in my heart when I was born and the doctor told my parents that they couldn't take me anywhere or I would get sick but they didn't listen to him and still took me to church safely and I was healed with no surgery or anything needed now I'm 14 years old and worship and praise God every day❤

I cry when i listen to this song. WONDERFUL!!!!

🥰 You have the voice of an angel...I cried through the entire video...so beautiful! You sang the song with such emotion it made me cry so much harder! I would give anything on earth to have this sung to my husband and myself. He is the most selfless man on earth ...he married me with having 4 children and he has always treated my children as if they were his own. He met me when my children were 2yrs 3yrs 4yrs and 5yrs old and did not run...my children and I are blessed to have this angel in our lives. I thank God every night when I say my prayers and I can say my children see him as a Dad not a stepdad. My daughter will be 40 years old next year! This man is my life and honestly, I do not think I could survive without him. He is loved by every person who meets him. Thanks so much for listening to me going on and on but he means everything to me and my kids.
