Halibut & Striper Fishing | San Francisco Bay Live Bait (Anchovies) Drifting
Спорт
On this trip I am in San Francisco Bay live bait drifting anchovies for halibut and striped bass. I picked the bait up from J & P Bait @ pier 47 in San Francisco. After we got the bait we fished in and around Treasure Island, Berkeley, and Alameda. We caught so many fish, just not many we could take home. Thanks for watching. Please give the video a thumps up and subscribe to the channel.

nice, happy to hear you liked the video!
excellent vid as always- great content. I was out this week live bait drifting and missed so so so many fish. very subtle bite on the live bait drifts.. among all your other great vids, i'd love to see one just on the techniques of setting up a drift -- how to work incoming/outgoing/slack tide, water depths, dropoffs, direction of boat, all that stuff. i don't have a boat( yet) but working towards it. usually go out on charters and its hard to pick cap't's brains for that type of stuff. great work sir.
Audios on point! Great vid fellas

9.99k!!! You got this!
👍I never knew about the drift bag and using it to slow your boat down. Too cool! Glad you shut the lid and in doing so you saved the keeper halibut from flipping overboard 😂

Happy you were able to learn something, yeah "drift socks" are great for slowing you down on a fast drift or when anchored to keep your boat from swaying back and fourth. Thanks for watching
I like your videos, you are always to the point, never any unbearable music always good footage, thanks for sharing.

Berkeley must of heard you, they paved that road, still working on it too..
University Ave is an awesome paved road. Really it's should be classified as an improved road. A gravel road would be an improvement.
Nice catch Chris. Any day fishing is better then sitting at home.

That's a great day of fishing brother. I am afraid that we slaughtered the butts two years ago. You have go through all the shakers to get a a keeper. Good luck fishing.

yeah lots of shakers. Gonna try some colder water next time I go out for halibut, less fish but shouldnt be many smalls. Looks like we saved enough butts to make all those babies. My guess those 15 inchers are 2 years old, just a guess though. thanks for watching and I am happy to see you getting back on the water!

Hello Chris great videos I been following your channel since you started keep it up What’s the best weather or swell chart you use to go under the golden gate? Thank you
One of those days. I had just 8 shakers today on the outgoing tide. Left before the Incoming tide.

dang, yeah so many smalls. Fishing should be real good when they grow up. I didnt like that tide or wind this week so I didnt go out. Thanks for watching
Awesome vid. Chris,! I have a question, how much does your bait cost? Do they charge by the pound for those live anchovies?
Where did you launch in Berkeley? I keep hearing crazy bad things about launching in that area so we are scared to try it. Never been in the bay there so we have no idea where the best place to launch is.
how deep were you guys hitting the stripers
Dude, that road has been an issue for at least 25 years. Berkeley won't re-pave it because it's situated on landfill. They still haven't repaired the pier as well. When I was a kid in the late 60's/early 70's, you could walk a half mile on the pier and catch HUGE stripers.
Lost my brand new black Diamond paired wit an silver Avet sx/g2 2 speed right at the rock wall. If u happen to pull one up my man

Bonk Em
You should do another catch and cook
That road leading to Berkeley marina has been terrible for YEARS! I think it was built on landfill!
Chris let's get on tue boat together... CE tackle coming at you
I’m ready to go. Let me know!
🤑
IS THAT A 300 OR 400 SIZED REEL?
I think I know what day you went out was it the 17th a lot of boats out that day we got a Hali and a striper that day

Have you seen the homeless camp off the Berkeley I-80 exit? It’s becoming a tent city. Fixing the road to the marina is the least of their problems.

Why did you stop launching Alameda?
@tamalpias

Probably because the hobos break into your car to steal loose change because with a trailer they know you are gone for at least half a day.
I launch from Richmond because that road is so bad
Love your content Chris! Would love to collaborate sometime!! Cheers!

Lol If you can get them to fix that road and the homeless encampment I’d be amazed! Good old California! I actually had my trailer jump off the hitch on the strip leaving the marina 3 years ago 🤦🏻♂️

yeah lot of small ones this year. Its a good sign though, we should have lots of halibut over the next couple years. Thanks for watching
Berkeley marina sucks. Kept a boat on L dock for 7 years. Got tired of windows busted out in the parking lot. Government bureaucracy at its finest. Feel terrible for the people who own the sandwich shop by the freeway.
was always told they built that rd like that on purpose..... make sure boats were secure before you hit the frwy

That road suck bro 🤦🏽♂️
Chris, I appreciate that you take care to not injure small fish, but that little halibut clearly has tail-split from the net. kzread.info/dash/bejne/n3easNZ9Xa-am9Y.html I've seen it in other videos of yours, too. Those C & R nets aren't perfect by any means. I've had good luck trolling barbless salmon gear for halibut, and have caught halibut up to 16lbs on Watermelon Apex. I can't remember one fish that has shaken off at the boat. If they're borderline we just slip them off the hook without touching them. I would encourage you to try barbless hooks. People look up to KZreadrs like you, after all. If you promote it, others might try it. I know people will sh** on me for saying anything other than "Nice job" but there will be lots more people will be fishing for halibut this year with the salmon delay. That means lots of beat up little shakers with mortal injuries. Thanks for listening. -Andrew
Can’t fix the road till they fix the homeless encampment at the exit 🤣.
That is not how you fish a live anchovie
