Half Pound Smoked Burgers on The Yoder YS640s Pellet Grill
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Love me some burgers! This week we make half pound smoked burgers on the Yoder YS640s pellet grill. We mix up some mesquite, some cherry, and a little something special to take 1.5 pounds of hamburger and turn it into 3 half pound smoked burgers.

Great job! I really like Grillgrate's Grill spatula as it fits the grooves perfectly and I can make sure my burgers are going to come off without tearing them.

Hey Kevin, I use aluminum foil and just change it between cooks. Not every time, but most. Depends what I’m cooked and how much of a mess it made 😀. Thanks for watching!
I have buy the Yoder. Of all your grills. That one speaks to me the most

Thanks! No, I'm not a lamb guy to be honest. I make it for my wife as she loves it, but usually a rack of lamb or something like that. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
What temperature did you smoke at and what temperature did you turn the grill up to cook on grill grates?
@RumandCook

Long time since I did that video. If you look on my website I think I give step by step. I’d say 225 and then 450 would work though. Thanks!

Hi Jake, watching some videos and you answered a couple questions a week or two ago. new to the Yoder 640, not new to smoking. The ribs and Brisket I have done were amazing Yoder is great. No wrap Brisket till long rest Goldee's style first time and amazing. Great burger video, I will be trying. However a question. almost never see you using the grill grates. Wondering how often you use them for steak, burgers or anything direct rather than just smoking. About to purchase I think lol.
@RumandCook

I don’t use them that much. I have a video coming out where I do some wings on them though. I usually do steaks over charcoal. They work well though. 🍻
Really looks. From a fellow Canuck. What was the damper positioning?
@RumandCook

I always leave it in the middle. I haven’t found much use for it to be honest. Thanks for watching!
Please tell us what you turn the Yoder up to. That would help. Thanks.

At what temp did you sear at, I didn't catch it in the video if you said?
@RumandCook
3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I missed this question. 500F will work nicely. Searing will always go higher than the setting because it's expected the door will be open.
Doesn’t the grease drip straight through that grill plate and onto the fire box? Not sure that’s an ideal situation since the igniter isn’t cheap and might get screwed up.
@RumandCook
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it’s not an issue. The igniter is below the fire. It’s a Yoder accessory and there aren’t any issues using it. Thanks for watching.
I can't watch your channel anymore... I'll want to spend $2000 that I don't have on a grill... looks so good
@RumandCook
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate that. You can take some of the smoking videos and apply them to a much less expensive smoker. I started with an Electric Brinkman, and then used a Weber Smokey Mountain. Temps are very similar and you will get great results. I’ll be posted a rib video soon where I do it in the oven and use the same concepts as a smoker. As long as you know your temps and experiment, you’ll get some great results. Thanks for watching!
Glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t want pink inside my burger.

what was the temperature of the first cook please and then what was the temperature when you put them on the grates. Thank you.

Our of curiosity because you research and research what made chose the yodeler over Lonestar? I am sure you looked at it.
@RumandCook
2 жыл бұрын
Lonestar wasn’t out when I bought mine so I couldn’t compare. I can’t give much input on the LS because I haven’t played with one. People are excited by the amount of smoke you see. To me it looks like it’s burning a semi dirty fire, but it’s difficult to gauge based on the video I have seen. People say some great things about it though. Be interesting to what people say when they have more time on it and do some reviews.

How were you checking the temperature of the burger? You said temp at 275, but I didn't see a prob
@RumandCook
Жыл бұрын
Older video so I don’t remember the specifics, but the grill was prob set to 275 and cooked the burger to 165. I use a thermapen instant read thermometer to check my temps unless it’s a big piece of meat and then will use the probes. Hope this helps. 🍻

No problem. That means you’re prob close to atbbq.com ? Can maybe see one in person there. That’s where I ordered mine from. Definitely some difference between the two, pluses and minuses on both. What caused me to make the switch was the direct sear abilities. Thanks for watching!

I lived in Canada for the first 25 years of my life, it’s uncommon but not unheard of. You don’t see it in restaurants, but home cooks will do it. There is nothing wrong with it as long as it’s high quality ground beef. I still prefer to cook it closer to 160 though.
You need a beer to go with that, not a coke!

Surely I can’t the only one that has a rum and coke with a burger 😁. Not too worry though, I’ve had many a burger with a beer as well. 🍻

ruined the bun, and onion way too thick. C- on appearance and being able to consume. Can't speak for flavor.

Lol well video is misleading for sure, but the bun was def too small for a half pound burger. I also happen to have the worlds smallest mouth for a grown man. My dentist hates me 😀 Flavor wise it awesome. Thanks for watching.
Do you ever move the damper in when direct grilling? Probably doesn't make much difference.
@RumandCook
11 ай бұрын
No, it doesn’t make that much of a difference. I rarely touch it. 🍻
