By the way, the HD model SMG was not replaced by an M4A1, but rather a variant, called Colt M727, which is basically an CAR-15 with the M16A2 upper receiver and fixed carrying handle sights, it was used by the Navy SEALs and other SOCOM elements in the US Army.

@@szymonchlebicki4606 the only limiting thing is ammunition availability and reliability really. I imagine it's harder to keep an STG fed with ammo and maintained without spare parts than it would be to do the same with an M4 or AK

"With the coming of a new half-life game" thats something i never tought i would hear.

The HD pack really feels like a downgrade in a lot of ways when you compare the two. It just kinda takes away the uh... "unique-ness"(?) of some of the weapons, and makes them look more generic. Especially the nests for the Snarks. I love how the original looks like it could be its own mobile, living creature. Like the nest itself is alive. Perhaps the last stage of a Snark is to turn into a living nest? I wonder if they can reproduce asexually or not. Makes me wish there were just, like, books filled with random lore bits that the Half Life devs thought of during development.

Gordon is apparently a bodybuilder enthusiast, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was able to handle a crowbar with one hand.

You know, the interesting thing about the HD SMG is that there IS an AR pattern 9mm SMG, the Colt Model 635, but it has a differently shaped magazine than the 5.56mm version. Just thought you could mention that but I guess model is more important than in game function.

It honestly would've made more sense than a full-blown -M4- Colt Model 727 considering Black Mesa is a CQC environment, although it would still be weird to have it hold 50 rounds in a single magazine.

The Alpha version of the game did show HECU grunts use m4s before they were replaced with the mp5. Still doesn't make sense as to why they would change the model. Also off topic but the double barrel shot for the spas 12 looks more and sounds like a burst shot rather then at once. That's the most logical explanation for that.

The crossbow in hl1 isnt technically a crossbow, one of the scientist before you get it calls it a shark tranquilizer so maybe thats why you couldn't find anything.

1:41 I applaud you for correctly pronouncing the Koch part of Heckler & Koch.

If you think about it, laser-activated or motion-sensing mines that use light are absolutely NOT the move you want for a mine. In the real world, there are already issues with mines indiscriminately killing the wrong people (including friendly forces who don't know mines are set up somewhere). A Laser tripmine makes that problem even fucking worse because an optical sensor is way more sensitive than a mechanical activation method (like a tripwire or a pressure plate). Mines would be blowing up all the time because of stuff like the wind, or dust, animals, etc. It's an idea that can only be implemented successfully in video games, because the real world is full of stuff that will set them off randomly.

I like etymologies and origins, I also like guns, and I like half-life. This content fills all them. Subbed~ . Oh and the reason why the vanilla and OpFor has MP5 model is because the lore (from OpFor) suggests that the HECU grunts were trained specifically for close quarters combat. It also makes sense why the said submachine gun may possibly share the same ammunition with the pistol.

The HD model's smg still shares ammo with the pistol, even though it uses a completely different type of bullet.

the SMG is *NOT* an MP5SD. It's a regular MP5, with a mounted M203. What looks like an SD barrel is just a poorly modelled heat shield. Look up "Indonesian MP5 M203".

The Crossbow in the game is what I think is a Harpoon gun mix with a crossbow because in the game you find this weapon in a cage and the bow is there and what most divers use is the Harpoon gun I think that is it because the ammo can Also shoot under water

HEV suit actually does give additional strength to the owner, basically exo skeleton but much more high tech, this is just common sense since the suit is pretty much a power armor and it can eat bullet like a champ, second the suit must be sufficient enough to carry its own weight.... so why don't go further and beyond the crossbow... is actually not a crossbow at all, its a dart gun uses to tranquilizes target, dual to the balance of the game they have to make it become a sniper "rifle" the closest you can get with the gluon gun and the tau cannon is the plasma welder/cutter

i remember reading somewhere a long time ago that the barrel on the viewmodel of the revolver was made intentionally misaligned in order to look better

The MP5 uses the M203 "shorty". The HUD of the MP5 if you noticed, has M16 proportions... as the handguard reaches the full length of the M203. The only weapon that looks like the child of the MP5 and M16 is the Heckler and Koch G41.

You have a lot to learn

Black mesa appearently was a cold war military base originally. so the discontinued grenades were probably in the building for whatever reason.

As for the tau cannon, it was initially a gauss in early development, since it fires depleted uranium 235 which is perfect for a gauss gun, not for nuclear fission which i assume the Tau cannon requires it as i suspect it requires energy to create the Tau Particles which are third generation fermions.

The laser tripmine was used in Duke Nukem 3D. It may have been directly lifted from there.

There are some things I would like to point out since Whomobile was a bit lazy at doing his research on these weapons. Spas 12 shotgun can be set for semi-auto fire (which might explain the double shot action), even though player is still using the manual pump-action with it. Spas 12 needs enough powerful shells to use it's semi-auto fire otherwise it might jam. The manua pump-action has to be used for weaker shells. Colt 727 (or just AR-15 or M16) should not be able to share it's ammunition with the pistol unlike MP5, but it does anyway.

From what I understand, the tau cannon shoots tau particles which are similar to an electron, but is heavier than one. The reason why this is special is because due to its greater mass, it doesn't radiate something called Bremsstrahlung radiation, which means it has more penetrating power than electrons. I'm guessing that due to the fact it doesn't lose energy due to this radiation, it has more overall power, thus higher penetration.

I think the shotgun icon isn't a Spas-12 because Valve wanted to add a small touch where the H.E.V. suit AI isn't perfect and didn't recognize the weapon correctly.

I always assumed the crowbar was like a light tool because of Half-Life until I touched one IRL and realized it was a piece of SOLID STEEL.

Actually you are right about the Tau cannon because the weapon's category is gauss rifle not the name it's like calling an m16 a Assault Rifle or something like that...

The reason why Snarks explode after awhile is because it's a final defense mechanism. How they're thrown actually is that Gordon(or the user) applies pressure to the Snark causing the Snark to panic thinking it's going to get crushed in someone's grasp, as a result when released they go in a feral frenzy in where they attack any creature they deem a threat and most importantly the one the threatened them. After awhile the creature's blood boils to a point in where the chemicals within erupt in a burst of acid and the Snark dying. It's a evolutionary defense system to dissuade the Snark's prey or would-be abusers.

What buds me about the HD models is that the Beretta and The Clot727 use the same ammo pool in game. Those guns don't use the same ammo irl. Beretta is 9mm and the Colt is 5.56. It makes sense with the original models because the Glock and the MP5 both use 9mm.

Something random you should know is that it is possible to swinging a crowbar with one hand it all depends on the weight of the material

Okay that's so you just straight up grabbed it and not listen to the scientist that made the thing

I KNEW YOU VISITED IMFDB, anyways... I use IMFDB for when i wanted to get all the weapon types for payday 2 considering that certain weapon types is payday 2 are just the weapons with modifications like the Bofors Ak 5 being turned to an FN FNC, which makes sense since the bofors is a sweedish FN FNC.

I like how blatantly diffent the world models are from the the first person veiw.
