Hack Aging Through Autophagy

Ғылым және технология

biohackersummit.com Leslie Kenny's life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis in her 30s. When her doctors told her lupus had a life expectancy of 5 years and that rheumatoid arthritis could only be managed, not cured, she set out to optimize her health as best she could using safe, natural solutions.
She began helping life sciences academics at European universities including Oxford, where she lives, to raise money for their discoveries. It was at a meeting with one such scientist that she learned about a natural compound called spermidine, rich in a traditional Japanese dish she had grown up with, natto. Spermidine was showing great promise supporting health as we age.
Leslie immediately wanted her octogenarian mother back home in California to take it. Unfortunately, spermidine wasn’t available in the US or really even known there. Spotting this unmet need, she decided to bring it to the US herself. Today, at age 57, Leslie is living proof that we can get better with age, so long as we take responsibility for our health and meet our doctors halfway.

Autophagy and its role in targeting Hallmarks of Aging: - Explaining how autophagy can address some of the Hallmarks of Aging, such as impaired proteostasis and mitochondrial dysfunction. - Examples of impaired nutrient sensing: - Illustrating altered nutrient sensing, including insulin resistance and ferritinophagy, which affects iron release in certain conditions. - Stem cell dysfunction and its significance: - Discussing the importance of healthy stem cells for tissue repair and rejuvenation. - Impaired intercellular communication and autoimmune conditions: - Highlighting the role of proper cell signaling and its relevance in autoimmune diseases like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. - Cell senescence and its implications: - Explaining the concept of senescent cells, which have stopped replicating but continue to secrete harmful cytokines, potentially leading to health issues. - Conclusion and implications for understanding aging and promoting longevity: - Wrapping up the talk and discussing the importance of autophagy and its potential to slow aging and improve overall health. 3. Introduction to autophagy and its significance in addressing aging: - Autophagy is described as a cellular self-cleaning mechanism that can be hacked to slow down aging and improve cellular function. - Explanation of autophagy and its process: - Autophagy involves the removal of cellular waste, damaged organelles, and misfolded proteins through a process resembling internal housekeeping. The importance of lysosomes in breaking down cellular waste is highlighted. - The discovery of autophagy and its Nobel Prize-winning researcher: - The role of Yoshinori Ohsumi, a cell biologist awarded the Nobel Prize in 2016 for his discovery of the mechanism of autophagy. - Autophagy's impact on the Hallmarks of aging: - Explaining how autophagy influences all nine Hallmarks of Aging, such as impaired proteostasis, mitochondrial dysfunction, stem cell dysfunction, and impaired intercellular communication. - The complex nature of autophagy and its potential for rejuvenation: - The complexity of the autophagic mechanism is emphasized, and the possibility of rejuvenation through proper autophagy functioning is discussed. - The interconnectedness of Hallmarks of Aging: - Encouraging a holistic view of the Hallmarks of Aging and how they interact with one another rather than considering them in isolation. - Personal testimonial and the power of autophagy in health: - The speaker shares a personal experience of being given five years to live but managing to extend their life through various interventions, including enhancing autophagy. - Conclusion and the importance of maintaining proper autophagy: - The presentation concludes with the message that aging is not the cause of autophagy's decline but rather the other way around. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining proper autophagic mechanisms to promote healthier aging. 4. Introduction to the potential of influencing multiple Hallmarks of Aging: - The speaker discusses the possibility of making positive changes in one Hallmark of Aging and gaining benefits in other aspects as well, emphasizing the interconnectedness of these processes. - Lifestyle habits that impact autophagy: - Explaining how lifestyle habits such as sleep optimization, caloric restriction, intermittent fasting, and exercise can influence autophagy. - Gender-specific considerations for autophagy interventions: - Highlighting the differences in how men and women respond to fasting and the potential challenges women may face in implementing fasting as an autophagy-triggering intervention. - Gero protectors as alternative autophagy-inducing interventions: - Introducing the concept of gero protectors, substances that can trigger autophagy without requiring fasting, with a focus on their relevance to women's health. - Controversial aspects of certain gero protectors: - Discussing concerns related to the use of Resveratrol, particularly in regards to dosage and potential negative health effects. - Human clinical trials of gero protectors: - Providing information about ongoing human clinical trials for gero protectors like metformin and rapamycin, and mentioning a Danish study on metformin's potential impact on male offspring. 5. Spermidine and its historical significance: - Exploring spermidine's historical roots in ancient tantric practices and its association with longevity. - Introduction to spermidine and its importance for aging: - The spermidine and its role in the aging process, highlighting its significance for healthy centenarians and its potential to enhance longevity. - Sources of spermidine and its impact on autophagy: - Explaining how spermidine can be obtained from various foods and its ability to target autophagy elements, potentially contributing to increased lifespan. - Comparison of spermidine with other gero protectors: - Comparing spermidine and rapamycin with other gero protectors based on their alignment with the Hallmarks of Aging, with a personal preference for natural spermidine over synthetic forms. - The benefits of natural spermidine and its compatibility with the body: - Discussing the advantages of obtaining spermidine from natural sources due to the molecular mimicry and additional co-factors it provides, which are familiar to the body. - The potential for hacking the Hallmarks of Aging: - Summarizing various ways to influence the Hallmarks of Aging, including the use of spermidine and other gero protectors. - Closing remarks and optimism for healthy aging: - Emphasizing the potential for a bright future by leveraging the body's innate wisdom, autophagy, to slow down or inhibit the Hallmarks of Aging, leading to a long and healthy life. Practical Message: 1. Understand the Hallmarks of Aging: Take the time to learn about the nine Hallmarks of Aging, which include factors like DNA damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, and impaired nutrient sensing. Knowing these key aspects will help you better understand the aging process and its impact on your health. 2. Embrace Autophagy-Boosting Habits: Incorporate lifestyle habits that promote autophagy, such as intermittent fasting, caloric restriction, and regular exercise. These practices can activate autophagy and enhance cellular cleanup and repair mechanisms, potentially slowing down the aging process. 3. Choose Gero Protectors Wisely: If considering gero protectors like metformin or rapamycin, do thorough research and, if necessary, consult with a healthcare professional. Understand the potential benefits and risks associated with these substances before incorporating them into your routine. 4. Focus on Natural Sources of Spermidine: Include foods rich in spermidine, like wheat germ, soybeans, and certain types of mushrooms, in your diet. Natural spermidine provides additional co-factors and is more compatible with the body's processes. 5. Adopt a Holistic Approach: Rather than targeting individual Hallmarks of Aging in isolation, take a holistic view of your health. Focus on improving multiple aspects simultaneously through lifestyle choices, as positive changes in one area can have a beneficial impact on others. 6. Prioritize Sleep and Stress Management: Adequate sleep and stress reduction are crucial for overall well-being and can also play a role in promoting healthy aging. Prioritize quality sleep and find stress-reducing practices that work for you, such as meditation or hobbies. 7. Personalize Your Approach: Understand that the aging process is individual and can vary based on genetic factors and lifestyle choices. Tailor your strategies to suit your unique circumstances and needs. 8. Stay Informed and Open-Minded: Keep yourself updated with the latest research and findings on autophagy and healthy aging. Be open to exploring new approaches that have shown promise in scientific studies. 9. Focus on Long-Term Habits: Aging is a lifelong process, so prioritize sustainable habits over quick fixes. Consistency in adopting healthy practices over time can lead to significant long-term benefits. 10. Be Patient and Optimistic: Remember that healthy aging is a journey, and results may take time. Stay patient and optimistic in your pursuit of a healthier and fulfilling life through autophagy-enhancing practices.

    She states fasting for child bearing aged women disrupts the cycle, but provides no evidence. What are the diets of these women? Do they consume processed foods, sugar, seed oils, and high oxalate vegetables? She pivots to pharmaceuticals and supplements to aid in this pathway. Eating a proper human diet of one-ingredient animal protein and fats minus processed foods, sugar, seed oils, and high oxalate vegetables is a fasting mimicking diet could be far more effective without side-effects. This would be without intention calorie restriction. For more info, Look up OB MDs Dr Jaime Seeman (@DoctorFitandFabulous) , Robert Kiltz, MD (@doctorkiltz), and Dr. Andrea Salcedo (@consciousgynecologist) on youtube for evidence. There are many more MDs/PHDs on this way of eating such as Dr. Jason Fung (@drjasonfung), and Dr. (phd) Thomas Seyfried (@Dr.Thomas-Seyfried_Charity) just to name a couple. Wish you well.

    Autophagy is the way to go. Good things happen (cell repair, etc) when your body is not constantly digesting and processing food, especially fake processed food. Your body can turn its attention to repair. She is wrong about fasting. Our hunting ancestors did not eat every day. If you are burning fat and producing ketones, you are not starving. It would take weeks to be truely starving. How to do autophagy? Start with a real food ketogenic diet. Then start fasting. 12 hrs, 16 hours then skip meals, one meal a day then 36 hours or more. I fast 3 to 5 days every 6 weeks or so since 2018. Found out about autophagy in 2019.

Autophagy is best personal human intelligence cleaining system to improve whole system we call our body. And with that consequences like younger and stronger body will be new normal - if you do it... just knowing is sadly not enough. Would love to see science about DRY fasting... For me its a game changer for detoxing and improving everything - IF you do it scientificly - first few days what you eat is crucial. Your life depend on it if you do it for more that 24h than first day of eating is only drinking... water, tea from dried apricots and kefir in really small quantities and eating slowly. First food should be steamd or boiled veggies, NO Fet, no salt, no raw food

    Fasting can help a lot, so can increasing beef and getting rid of lineolic acid. Some benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting. Fasting restores NAD+ to healthy levels. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy. Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria, plaques and viruses by the immune system. It will also remove any 'foreign material' like spikes that are not supposed to be there. Whether natural or unnatural in origin.. Telomeres are lengthened and fasting also increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors. Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. Reflexes and short term memory are increased. Fasts from 36-96 h increase metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release! After 72 hours or more fasted, your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune bodies, rejuvenating your entire immune system. This helps prevent the onset of new autoimmune conditions, which develop through a leaky gut and damaged immune system. Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures. Thymus is regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. The thymus also plays a vital role in fighting cancer. Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue! The obese will lose extra tissue like loose skin while fasting, but the skinny or frail will have increased growth hormone release than the obese, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness. The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting. When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell required for viruses to replicate. What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast. Most teas and herbs are OK. Most supplements and meds will either break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting. Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility, especially in women with PCOS. Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system in a similar way to CBD oil. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function. One day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again! Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers. Some patients may need continued acid reduction medication while fasting. Does the body preferentially prefer glucose as a fuel? No. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns fats in the form of free fatty acids. Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose. Fasting stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention! Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth. This can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers. When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn carbohydrate, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with. Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level. When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer. A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs. Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast and seek advice. What is BTW means? In medicine we were taught not to use this method.Of course that teaching was authentic in Edinburgh,Scotland.I might help. For me all healthy life style variables change my pure white hair into black not completely.Not fasti which is stressful but meditation,no stressful medical work,walking out in nature and engaging the mind in what we do.The builder work in my house reverse his diabetes by ketogenic diet,then whole plant diet,one meal a day .very extreme and consistent.I suppose we are different and no one size fits all.Extreme Fasting lead to high energy.One morning did four total abdominal hysterectomies in addition to long list of medium surgical operations.Not eating is simply could not eat because of severe abdominal pain in stressful Iraq.Changed my environment the country to work helped my health.Simply run away from that madness of over working 5 amto 12 midnight.

    @@lalisa2486 @AT-xl9db I started with high dose Vit B1 - Benfotiamine and Allithiamine 1 plus 2/day, then added Acetyl L-Carnitine then B complex using P5P not standard B6, then added DHEA 50 mg per day, then expensive R lipoic acid on empty stomach, then some choline and inositol cycling them, then Copper and selenium but spread out weekly, quite a lot of magnesium L-threonate, some glynac (not much, it gives me cramps), a little Quercetin occasionally, a lot of Vitamin D3 and Omega 3 from Algae, I eat beef mince and mango/pineapple/melon and drink Soya Latte once a day in the mornings. I do gentle gym work twice a day and noticed I got A LOT more energy, but I don't push-it, light weights, very light cardio. Used to get fatigued in the gym but no longer so I done my mitochondria a lot of good. I am auto-immune susceptible, hence the diet - even strawberries are no good for me. I notice that auto-immune remedies are often also anti aging remedies - fortunately. I'm definitely younger now after 3 months of this ..... Before I was truly forgetful and fatigued. I am 73.

    Some mushrooms have a lot of spermidine. Also cheeze and beef are good sources of it. My opinion differs from that presented in this video. To ignite autophagy I rely on Intermittent Fasting and a keto-carnivore diet. Plus exercise such as HIIT. Yet it is important to use additional enzymes to avoid accumulation of lipofuscin in cells and atherosclerosis plaques in walls of large arteries.

  • @Dr_Oleg_Kulikov

    @Dr_Oleg_Kulikov

    Жыл бұрын

    @@elvisbz You may try any available enzymes. Fish paste in a traditional Thai spicy papaya salad is working well for digestion and skin. I tried to marinade ocean fish in a way as Scandinavians do, but gave up as I am in Thailand and the fish paste is available here at local markets for a relatively cheap price. Also, I produce a very potent enzyme that is good for blood vessels and inner organs' elasticity. So, my blood pressure is normally about 100/60 or even 85/53 with a heartbeat rate of 50 or below 50. And it gives me great endurance to swim in fins for up to two hours at relatively high speed or go cycling for up to a 100 km distance. I supply my enzymes to my friends and get reports that it works for them too. Unfortunately, EU customs don't allow to send the not certified products. America works well. If I will find more customers in the US, I may increase production from 1-2 kilos per month to dozens and even hundreds of kilos. I have invested my money in the production facilities but the war in Ukraine crashed my plans as I was planning to get pure organic raw materials from Ukraine for the enzyme production. Please, check my KZread channel for more information. So, from the enzymes available commercially, I may recommend you the fish paste and papain.

Sounds like your neurotransmitters need a lift! Try smoking cbd flower and mixed that with a lil sassafras oil before u smoke it which u can order both safely online. Trust and believe the government is lies about sassafras being toxic to humans being native Americans used it daily safely way before European science hit the scene
