Haas Mini Mill Chip Clean-out Door | My Haas has no chip conveyor, so I made this.

When you buy a Haas Mini Mill without a chip conveyor, you are provided with an open hole on the side of the machine from where you clean chips out. Very quickly you learn that coolant splashes out of the hole and makes a mess on the floor. In the video I make what I would have hoped Haas would have provided. What I came up with was fun to make and will do a great job of keep the coolant in.

Is that a haas chip rake? I have the same rake that came with my used MM and always wondered who /where it was made.

man... I would love a haas mini mill to add to my shop arsenal. What kind of feedback do you have for someone who would be interested in get into milling or looking for a haas mini? yeah i know that a open question. I just love the idea of milling somthing and would love to learn more about how and why a hobbyist would or should get into one. Also what about power requirements from a home garage.

What’s up Ratha. Yes you should get one.😂 I’d say this first, if you’re still limited to a standard home garage when getting a cnc mill, than this is the way. I love my mini mill but if you can get a bigger machine than most definitely do that. I have run many Haas machines of all sizes in my past careers and the holy grail for me is the VF-2. If you want further input sometime just DM me on Instagram. Thanks for watching and thanks for your great content. Dave

I run this machine on single phase 240v. / 40 amp breaker. I have other machines that use 3 phase power that is supplied by a rotary phase converter.

There is an extension on the side that the pump sits in where you can put a oil skimmer…. but I don’t do anything 😁

@@nubtools i'm new at work and they have an '04 model. the oil thickens in the sump and makes a nasty layer. i tried taking out large chunks but no luck.

I ran one about that age and the coolant tank design was very difficult to maintain. The newer models are designed much better. Have you looked into the rope style skimmers?
