H1MIN: LCT (R) D-DAY
Ғылым және технология
LCT(R): R for rocket, was a variant of the Landing Craft Tank used by Allied forces for close inshore support of amphibious landings. Winston Churchill encouraged the creation of these craft to provide high saturation bombardment of targets prior to landing to neutralize defenses such as mines. The successful trials in England proved the usefulness of this platform and had a powerful impact as 17 tons of ordnance fell down on the defenders in just a few minutes. The U.S. Navy also had some of these craft and the lessons learned on D-Day created the LSM (R) ships later used in the Pacific Campaign.
There are great articles on the British and U.S use of these fascinating ships.

Finally, thank you for your continued support, subscriptions, ideas, and comments. Much appreciated.
...and on the 75th anniversary of D-Day, please take some time to commemorate the brave soldiers, sailors and airmen who sacrificed it all. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten...

that depends on what he wants to do in his free time.
My Father was a Coxwain of a Mk-5 series LCT in the South Pacific in WW ll. The one he steered was not modified for rocket use but other landing craft were used for rocket launch operations there too, I remember him saying. I have seen films of that kind bombardment in action and its impressive. Your animated version is tribute to the " Gator" Navy.
This series of videos is blowing my mind. Just full of details I’ve never heard.
Very high quality, very nice animation, i can watch it without sound because the animation is perfect 👍😁
the animations are top notch... on this one water was unbelievable.
So glad I found this channel
This channel is awesome short and very well explained videos
A lot of these military videos are WAY too long. I appreciate the concise format and commentary on your videos. Oh, and did I mention that your animations are superb? Excellent work, thank you!
Thank you for the description, have heard of these vessels but never seen any information on them
I heard about the vessel, just never realised it took part in DDay. Very interesting, thank you. :D
Damn when you hear about these inventions it's hard to believe the casualties

Super good video. I would have never known! Very interesting!
incredibly good quality
High quality content
Great channel
Love your videos man, instant sub! :)
My father was on one these including at D-Day. A slight inaccuracy in the video is that the UK boats would be pushed back up to 1/4 mile when they let a whole load go.
Gorgeous stuff. Subbed.
Thus channel is so underrated :/ You deserve millions of subs
This is unusual stuff keep it up
Look at the god damn water simulation! Better than most animation short film out there!
Amazing...
Remind me playing cod world at war and good animation btw 👍🏻
This is very underrated
"Barrage-salvo H-E, Waco eight-one, Azimuth 35, Range 28... On the way!"
There was a mission in CoD world at war "little resistance" where these were in there. And there would be someone over the loud speaker from the ships say something I could never understand because of how muffled I somewhat sounded (not the guy on the radio) after you call in the rockets. To this day I still don't know what he's saying.

A great idea, but did they actually have any material affect on the beach defenses?

@@samarkand1585 you've got to *hit your target* to have "material affect on the beach defenses". Those things were damned inaccurate, pretty small and shooting at really big beaches.

They did. The Americans modified this rocket ship even further. They would be used in the Pacific during WWII and the Korean War

@@RonJohn63 you don’t need to be accurate when you’re shooting hundreds of rockets

Imagine what a whole group of those could do.
Here boat, boat has rocket launchers, rocket launchers launch rockets, beach go boom.
This is a brilliant concept, it would've probably saved more life on omaha beach, or maybe it did, as a fan of ww2, I'll admit that I don't know if it ever got used on D-Day
yeh
Can somebody tell me whats the difference about this ship and LSM(R)
Wouldn't want to crew this one if the on-shore cannons aren't silent!

So was it really effective?
after some vids of your channel i thought it got the animation from world of tanks or war thunder, but you are making em by yourself?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So, its basically an arsenal ship.
They needed these on Omaha Beach instead of fucking with trying to float tanks
But smoke is suppos to extiguish fire
Gaijin gotta add this in War Thunder.
Why didn't I see this in COD?
The first time i saw this is at cod waw
arrow barrage vibes
Is your day job at Pixar?
i think you have the best like to dislike ration on youtube :)
Ask anyone on Omaha, most of the rockets didn't reach the shore.
We need this in war thunder😆
UK always make the weirdest weapons.
imagine them adding this to war thunder, would be so pathetic
But on D-Day they didn't get in range because they were cowards so they were fired short. Utter waste!

An open deck of rockets is a juicy target to heavy shore batteries, and anything within 1/4 mi of it when it goes up would have a bad day. That so perhaps the strategy was to wait until shore defenses are reduced to mortars and lessor weapons, or if things got bad, (even worse than they did on Omaha), then go ahead and risk the rocket barges in close, but keep your distance from it with everything else you have.
