It's certainly a risky proposition that requires a strong risk appetite, especially if you are shelling $200k (all inclusive MBA cost including cost of living) for the program. High risk high return opportunity (analogous to stock investing).

@@jaimesmith1086 When I was planning for MBA applications, I had 10 years of work experience. So American programs weren't really on the radar, since I'd have been a misfit in the class where the average experience would be half of what I had. @@sameer-kamat Thanks for sharing Sameer. Glad it worked out very nicely in hindsight. With 10 years of work exp, I can certainly see how a 2 year MBA (more of a staple of the North America demography, barring a few exceptions) could be an overkill. European MBAs certainly hold the 1 year advantage. Would love to learn more: - In terms of geography: were you also considering the Indian ISB or IIM's PGPX program which I think is 1 year program (former is the post experience full time & latter is executive program). - Speaking of executive, were you also considering an executive MBA or Sloan fellows which I hear is another one for more experienced folks, granted I think they don't help with the career change (more of just moving up within same company/industry) which I think your full time MBA helped with to pivot from Tech consulting to M&A. - How was the decision making process like when you were at the point of 10 years of work experience and figuring things out which ultimately led to a strong conviction to pursue the MBA program and finally moving overseas to do it. I hear the conventional wisdom thrown around is that when someone has over 10 years of work exp (similar to yours), things become tricky and things like executive/part time/sloan MBA, etc tend to creep in. Yours is a very awesome case study & I see all the content you put out is deeply entrenched with good wisdom. I am learning lots from you which is helping me navigate my career, so thank you so much. Truly appreciated.

@@jaimesmith1086 Indian MBA programs were not on my list. I had worked internationally before my MBA and I wanted a degree that would keep the international doors open, just in case I decided to use it in a different country. So instead of an elaborate bschool selection strategy, I simply chose one where the university (if not the bschool) would have global recognition. Indian bschools weren't (and still are not) at that level yet.

If yes, doesn’t it increase the probability of getting the H1B?
