my cities dickhead mayor decided to make every cop patrol solo. the day after that happened a police officer got pushed into train tracks and nearly got shot by his own gun. this order was instantly reverted and the superintendent of the police department basically said "told you so" to our mayor. i live in NYC. multiple times has 2 officers proven to be better. including in a shooting that happened in harlem where 2 officers were shot (both killed) and where 2 officers were ambushed in queens where a officer was shot and the second officer literally trickshotted the shooter, killing him.

Yeah, mental health within police, military, etc., is typically heavily negatively stigmatized as well. Yet there are many who function perfectly fine with mild to moderate treatment for mental health conditions, even ones that require meds. The negative stigma needs to end, of those who seek treatment, and policies need to be updated to allow such to happen without fear of repurcussion from dept/govt. Having staff mental health peeps ain't cutting it, because nobody really trusts talking to someone on the payroll, especially when it is something not directly job related, ie manic depression, schizo-type disorders, even severe bouts of PTSD causing extreme sleep deprivation, hallucinations etc. They need to have a bit of an anonymous sort of setup, to where there is a layer of separation so peeps can trust not facing career repercussions for seeking treatment instead of hiding shit and battling symptoms without any sort of treatment.

He ended up pistol Whipping me one night when i tried to leave and fractured my eyesocket and cheekbone. Thought i was going to die that night but i didn't. I ended up being able to escape him about 6 mos later by completing leaving the state...found out after i left that he had been using PCP for the second half of our relationship...around the time he started having the rage issues. He acted just like this guy was acting. I didn't even know u could find PCP out there but apparently its pretty popular.

@ok this man wasn't a criminal prior to his two run ins with the law and was actually law enforcement before he refused the EAP and got himself fired. His attempted murder of a law enforcement officer is what got him killed, but I 100% believe it was due to his mental health issues. It's not as simple as more health care, less weapons. Health care is cost prohibitive for some without insurance, and prison becomes a place people can get treated for free. There's a lot of nuance to the issue. But this one? Dude just needed help, didn't get it, went into a delirium or manic episode, and got himself killed. It's sad, but not a statement about anything larger.

When he was reported to be acting crazy he was probably having such an episode. May he now rest in peace. 4 of my brothers did military service. 1 was K.I.A. the other 3 all have various strengths of P.T.S.D. but they all have found ways of coping with it. One brother is bad but he has been in therapy and is taking medication for his problem and is still around 42 years after the end of his service. There is hope but sometimes you need a bit of extra help. I wish you well and all the best. Your name is very familiar. I am trying to place it. Did you ever live in Salisbury Rhodesia? Fleeing pursuit *with a deadly weapon* yeah, it'd make sense you'd want to stop him before reaching a residential area he might start shooting in / taking hostages, but I'm kinda sketch on the "Slow Speed Pit Maneuver" there... Good shoot at least, that man clearly was trying to die and couldn't be politely asked in the heat of the moment whether he was willing to take someone else with him; already lead to a firearm discharging into an officer's foot. But I think you're right to be a bit skeptical about the story involving the guy leading up to that point, something seems off.
