They sure don't deserve any hate. I have a pittie now and have had 2 others- they really have so much love to give and just want to be loved as well. They thrive in loving homes.

She is one of the lucky ones. It is heartbreaking to know others are not so lucky.

I consider "pets" to be family members NOT pets. So if you consider it that way you will understand why someone would go so far out of their way for her. Be very Thankful there are people who go that extra mile!!! You never know when you yourself may need the help of one of those generous Souls! ☀️💖🙏

I was wondering the same thing. Not only why they were (what appeared to be) anxious to put her down, why wasn’t her condition being treated while in their care?? He said she was skin and bones- why isn’t the shelter helping her? I understand it’s expensive but have a heart… I digress. I’m glad he rescued her and she has a loving home now.

That shelter didn't Want to put her down. For goodness sakes, shelters save as many animals as they can- they just can't save them all. Offer up some good support, not criticism of a situation where you have no specific info.

​@bodie1098 I'm guessing the OP was referring to the fact that he had to keep calling the shelter to reassure them he was on his way ...why he'd have to do that I have no idea but it seems like the shelter had a specific time line for putting the dog down. You would think the shelter could have reassured him that the dog would not be put down at the deadline,my goodness or perhaps he was just nervous if he didn't keep calling them to let them know he was on his way theyd put her down ...I'd hate to think the deadline was just for dramas sake on his part...which I doubt it was.

God forbid he would've been late and that poor baby would've been put down. I support shelters and I've actually adopted a few of my babies from there, save your unnecessary comments!

​@@bodie1098oh gosh...do I have a story for you. A family had their wee Dachsund out in the front yard... she disappeared. Years later,they get a call from a rescue group that was run by a friend of theirs,the lady that runs it looks for dogs in shelters that are dachsunds or dachsund mixes. Anyways she spotted a dog that looked just like her friends dog in a shelter out in the Ca Valley and she contacted her friend to tell her I may have just found your dog. So they immediately contacted the shelter and the shelter told them ...sorry but this dog is scheduled to be put down. Reason being? Because the arseholes that originally stole the dog from the yard had dropped off the dog at the shelter because it was too old for them and they had paid for the euthanasia so for whatever stupid reason the shelter is obligated to put the dog down because the $ for that was already paid. It's insane!!! The fam begged them to wait...told them we are on our way. But the price had already been paid for euthanasia. The ONLY reason that dog didn't get put down is because they called both numbers that they had been given by the dognappers were not legit and they could not contact these criminals. Family finally got there and rescued their wee dog and took her home,that dog went crazy happy just seeing them after all those years. They took her home and she slept in their bed that night and lived out her twilight years with her family.

@@Kachemba731 there is absolutely no way they would’ve put that dog down. He called them in advance and told them he was flying out there and said that he had called them repeatedly after landing while he was on the way there. He was just being overly dramatic.

What a heartwarming story. I dread to think if the shelter would have enforced the deadline. This is why our family only donates and volunteers for non-kill shelters.

I’m a Peds NP. My heart hurts to think about not only all the pups that are dumped & abused then disposed of but also the children who are treated the same way. I would wish to save them all. 💜

The way she just curled up in the passenger seat. She was completely relaxed and comfortable, she knew she was safe and loved.

I'm crying because of this rescue, I'm also crying because of all the pups that couldn't be rescued.

Although I admire this guy for doing what he did, I'm POSITIVE that there were dogs in his own local animal shelter that were under the same threat, and that he could have saved one of them.

Thank you, but just so you are aware, Vancouver and the province of BC has NO KILL Shelters. Yes, there are occasions where due to an incident or if they are sick beyond recovery... But, our average adoption time in shelters is about the same as Los Angeles's euth list time. When we are not overcrowded, it was an average of 7 - 10 days that the pups were adopted. Now, probably more around 21 - 30. But, we have a much better handle on things and we don't have KILL Shelters. So, while I appreciate the kind words, please ensure that you do some research before stating comments you aren't educated on. Thank you again and I hope you have a fantastic day!
