You can imagine musicians being a bit naughty, getting them in a line up would be a dead givaway because one look at Leo would tell you who did whatever it was
Can we all just take it in that this is literally history. Proms 53 will always be the best proms ever and this just proves that even though jazz is not as popular it is sure as hell still alive. :)

Bart has grace notes on his grace notes, Christian just shakes his head, Jon Faddis admits he's out ranged - the man's a beast!

First time hearing a tone like this one the trombone. How does he keep such a tone so consistently at such a high range?
That man put the LIFE into that trombone 💪

The three soloists were great. The band behind them sounds damn good.
Brilliant, Remember catching this when first broadcast. This is a very refreshing eccentricity and really needed at this time in this Art form. Jazz has been waiting a long time for a new kind of unique approach to help capture attention. We have had the wonderful Getz and Desmond of the Baritone =Geri Mulligan after of course the great Harry Carney then you've got your Pepper Adams types which every bopper recognises from alto to your Ronnie Cubers, Nick Brignolas to Gary Smulyans. Baritone has to be played and thought about a lot deeper in some ways to get things over to the every day listener to bridge the gap otherwise it can simply sound like a Bee taken off . For me Leo P doing his thing, is the best thing to come out of jazz in a VERY long time. Oh one last thing, this cat can really play,
Is nobody going to talk about the drummer?

I can’t speak for Mingus but I bet he would’ve been pleased with Leo’s interpretation over his work. Of course, he would’ve liked to hear Eric Dolphy’s interpretation but we just don’t have that option, do we? I’m a fan of Leo and what he’s doing. He has good roots and I’m excited to see where he takes his abilities.
OMG Leo used to perform at NY 42nd street subway station and now Albert Hall!
