HOW AWESOME FOR HIM!!! I'd seen previous videos of him before. He's a street performer who likes to use the acoustics in the subway stations. (sorry dont recall which city was was in) but the videos were always a lot of fun and he's a spectacular performer. Glad to see him getting a bigger stage.
Those phantom notes he starts at 1:12 are incredibly difficult to make, as you have to vibrate the reed at a specific frequency while ALSO putting enough air and vibration through for the main notes... and he makes it look and sound as easy as walking down the street o_O

As someone who's been to a couple of Too Many Zooz gigs now, this guy is incredible. The things he can make that Saxophone do are unreal. It's really worth seeing the whole group live if you can, since his bandmates Matt and David are equally insane on the trumpet and on percussion respectively!

The thing I was unprepared for at the live show was how amazing Matt is on Trumpet. Not that Leo and David aren’t, but the recordings have the trumpet down in the mix and in many cases with effects on it. At the live show it absolutely screams. David is a little more on top of the beat than this drummer as well.

@MD-zo7cl I dont know if youve ever seen drumset music before, but overwhelmingly its literally just a scribbled line on each beat which indicates "Improvise." Usually the only noted parts are ritards or syncopated sections. Any jazz drummer knows this very well, its quite rare for there to be actual defined written pieces for drumset. Orchestral percussion is a whole other story, and who knows maybe this percussionist got lucky, but it isn't what happens normally.
I played tenor in school and church and I gotta say this dude is absolutely wild on that bari to be moving that much and playing that well. But I'm really loving these notations added to the usual Italian in the sheet music. "raspy af"... "irish leg shenanigans"... "show epic zebra shoes"... "commence donkey noises"....."one leg"...."rotate on crack"....."honk" ...."dirty but clean idk how to explain"... "DIRTYYYY".... "MEGA SASSY DIRTY DONKEY with PELVIC GYRATION" ... Yeah, I had perfect intonation on the bari, so it's kinda hard to listen to it in most songs that butcher it, and while this guy isn't great when he's still and slow like at the end, I probably couldn't sound as good while moving. And two more things people don't point out, while moving that much, your mouth, and your reed, is getting dry, and it'll make it sound worse and is harder to control. Second, the fact he can hold the thing up while moving like that obviously takes a lot of practice. He's holding the whole thing up with his right hand most the time. The neckstrap helps but not for tone.

The movement is part of his performance in general and a large part of what got Too Many Zoos on the map in the first place, imo. Music isn't *just* about making notes from an instrument. Spectacle is important. It's the difference between being good and great.
